Hi @The_Big_Rock moved to vouchers from freebies as it's a code and there is a £20 min spend listed - can you clarify if there are restrictions eg only applicable to train fares ?

Passionateaboutprice

Much better than Trainline as they have same fares but no booking fee. Shame it is only first time booking.

Tried it but Skyscanner worked out £10 dearer than booking via Southern for exactly the same journey.

Regprentice

Just worked for me no bother.- Download the Skyscanner app- On the checkout page it asks if you have a voucher.(as below - voucher to add?)- Enter the mse code in the voucher section- Proceed to pay.

Sadly only one code worked so I booked with that for 3 people and used the Thameslink website to book the rest of the party. I hate sites like Skyscanner with one time offers that are supposed to work twice but don't so shop elsewhere. Shame as better than Trainline which charges a rip-off booking fee. However Skyscanner use trip.com underneath which is bizarre as their prices are ridiculous with their booking fee.

galego

where do you add to the discount code? I get to the payment screen and there's only space for my card (trying to book a one way manchester airport - leeds .... it makes me book via trip.com. Maybe it's not valid on all routes?)

mmquokka

I have had experience booking flights with Skyscanner on Apple devices where prices were higher than on an android device (compared in real time). So be aware to check network price

hartleyhare2020

Excellent. Thanks for posting this.

Had no idea about this, thanks! Unfortunately, you can't add a 'Via' on the app, so for me I can't force journeys to London via Northampton which are considerably cheaper than Virgin.

Not much wrong with Gulf Air when I flew with them to Mumbai via Bahrain. The main thing I judge airlines on is how generous they are with the free booze during the flight, and they were great. I must have had about 15 beers on the Heathrow- Bahrain leg, then several more on the next flight to Mumbai. I turned up in India pretty drunk I must say. The food seemed fine too, they actually ended up offering us extra meals as they had some left over. No complaints at all.

Eulaca

Had a similar experience, airline moved my flight so I couldn’t make a transfer, they put me up in a hotel for the 8 hours I had to wait and I got to do some exploring.

plunet

Layover counties where you transit, connect, or the aircraft opens the door and someone/anyone gets on or off does count for UK quarantine purposes. Quoting from gov.uk "If you have been in or through a country or territory on the red list in the 10 days before you arrive in England, you must follow the red list rules" A really harsh and practical example is Gibraltar. The airport there is well known for suffering from sheer winds blowing around the rock, and short notice diversions happen quite frequently, and the diversion airport is in Spain. So you pack your bags for a long weekend in green list Gibraltar, but because of weather conditions your plane is forced to divert to Spain. If anyone gets on or off the plane in Spain including airport or airline staff, you're now all amber, and there is nothing you can do about it.

cundall

i posted this deal for people travelling next year, its a gamble, but fingers crossed things open up

Layover does not count in terms of quarantine or?

A couple of things to bear in mind for European trips next summer: You will need travel insurance (or risk a massive medical bill), as the EHIC will not be available for UK citizens. The EU may not be allowing entry to UK citizens if, for an unfortunate reason, the UK is still seeing a high number of COVID cases.

arcticchimp

Just booked it from Manchester. it's even cheaper at £53. Although adding a few bags has taken it to £74 per person. Normally looking at £200+ in August. Hot from me!!!

superrams13

Not that great, I paid about £80 last year in summer holidays. Especially during uncertain times I wouldn't want to risk it unless it was dirt cheap

bilbob

Brave person booking a foreign holiday right now. God only knows what Boris will land us with. I'm looking to take my bike abroad next year, but I'm holding off until there is some clarity around this car crash.

whorlow

Without doubt. Companies will not be using all their aircraft and demand will surge.

Thought I'd balance the decade old reviews from some users. Went there last October for a couple of nights. Cost 30£ return. Great city, loads of sights to see, quirky cafes and very safe. Just keep your wits about your like in any other city in the uk. Great beach and cheap to get around with their travel card. The underground maps are easier to navigate than London. Was going to go again this summer.

dapper959

Booked direct with BA - worked out at just under £80 each for two adults and two kids. Short summer holiday with kids sorted. Thanks for heads up! Now just need to find a decent hotel deal

u664541

Went there for New Years about 25 years ago. Absolutely nothing going on. Returned to the hotel around half 11 and saw the New Year in on TV and went to bed. At around 1am the place went mental.

groenleader

Tourist trap city, over crammed with Chinese and Americans in groups and everyone else just trying to push their way through. This place is past its sell by date as its simply not worth the hassle. El Prat airport is still heavily reliant (unions and unemployment issues) on manual labour for bag drops etc, queues, queues, queues, the AC is off to save money. If 'rona rules persist maybe it will be worth it if its empty!

rprp

Wonderful city. Visit Can Majo for amazing paella, Las Bombas for cheap but brilliant tapas, and Tickets if you have money to spend. Lots of Gaudi architecture, nice beach, great shops if that's your thing. And a stadium tour or even a match if you can.

Still there my friend, until at least the second week of August. Hoping the rules change by then lol

Did you fly home before the quarantine rules kicked in?

seanjames

Oh dear

profilias

So ryanair won't change my flight or refund it as apparently booking on 9 June doesn't fall into the free change of flight scheme. From the 10 June any flight booked falls under the free change of flight . Times like this make one wish they collapsed and not the hard working independent businesses and employees of other corporations . I really don't find anyone would be proud to work for them

Cyprus is v cheap £50 rtn until you look into it and you Nedd to provide a negative test prior to entry. What I do notice since my cancelled holiday on 17th March is that majority hotels on booking. Com for example are free cancellation. Otherwise they would get no business. If I lose my £225 for a family of 5 to Spain then so be it. Insurance is still valid if you were to contract the disease whilst on holiday but would not cover your flights if you were a no show. (they did at the start of shutdown due to fco advice). In other words there are bargains galore as flight schedules start this week. However as we now approach the last 3 weeks of the Scottish school holidays flights to bergamo have been £22 rtn. Reus £45 rtn (booked x 5). And if you have a look at tui lates website you can fly Scotland to tenerife as an example £230 rerurn pp flights, bags, transfers, hotel.

ebeneezer_goode

who cares what "may" happen, i was stating a fact that these airlines are not only putting these flights on to countries which require quarantine etc. Based on my own experience

TristanDeCoonha

Perhaps not true during your time frame. However, Spain and Italy may now be removed from the list of "safe" countries for UK visitors, and for the visiting foreigners. Reported in various news outlets, 22 July 2020. Therefore, bargains may become more available, but the opportunity to partake of them will be reduced.

sheffield788

Voted hot! Yes, Hungary is very strict, and so the other countries in the region. Not to blame, the statistics show the results of such measurements. I always said to wear masks, as sooner or later, no country will let us in with the 'measurements' we had in here, which people ignored anyway. Voted hot regardless, there is a chance in a few weeks Hungary to relax measurements, but I have a feeling The UK will still be on the black list.

ebeneezer_goode

not true i just flew to rome for 40 quid return and there is no quarantine etc, so there definetly is bargains out there

DaveGrainger

Couldn’t agree with you more! An absolutely amazing city! Loved it when we visited last year!

jase.2

id rather use ryanair than wizz who really are bandits

Sam223

with aperitivo of course. True, Milan is no Rome but there's quality sights to enjoy which can be done in 1-2 days. Then head up to Lake Como for a few nights and you've got a perfect 5-6 night city + chill break. Btw, Wizz Air prices inc no carry on luggage and when added, Easyjet will likely work out cheaper (their prices inc. 1 carry on).

newwwt

I'd highly recommend visiting the nearby Bergamo as well. I enjoyed my time there more than I did Milan itself. And the nearby lakes are a must.

Oh I see. If visiting very vulnerable people may be an idea to be on the safe side but scientists believe it is far more likely to get in through you nose or mouth. Probably the best thing you can do by far though is just avoid enclosed spaces where not everyone is wearing a mask.

ChrisPalmer

Which is crazy because the number of people who have died from COVID-19 and didn't have a serious pre-existing medical condition is about 1,300 in the UK (figure accurate as of the beginning of July). But then, this whole crisis has been a case study in irrational reactions and fearmongering from Government and media.

Superman_turbo_pro_3000

I was going to visit my son, and I'm no scientist but I'm pretty sure that's how viruses are transmitted by coming into contact with moist body tissue, either in the throat, nose, lining of the lungs, so why not eyes? They're big wet balls in your face that your eyelids are wiping over. How do you know someone hasn't sneezed or coughed 5 people ahead of you? I was being extra careful visiting family.

Calaisjar

I highly doubt you are going to get infected by it getting into your eyes. I'm all for minimising risk but a step too far?

Superman_turbo_pro_3000

true. I wore a handmade mask (straps long enough to hold it on without bending your ears off) and some Bollé Viper clear safety glasses.. Which really deserve their own post as they're only £7 a pair and are brilliant. I believe they're the same type my dentist wears, they really wrap neatly around the face/eyes.
