Old 2018 code wasn't that popular but hey it's January 1st

Chanced it with WOMAN2019 and it worked; still expensive mind you but saves you £15 for anybody that was going to give it a try.

I am living proof as I’ve now lost 4st. It’s very easy to follow & it allows you to eat pretty much anything as long as it’s included in your syn allowance. There’s lots of free & speed food to fill up on first.
If you’re serious about wanting to lose weight & stick to the plan, then you could be like me & look forward to a healthier lifestyle. It can change your life. As they say don’t knock something til you try it!!!
Usual sexist code shocking in 2019! Does man2019 work or any other gender? Where are the protests and boycotts??

Btw decent deal thanks
Best of luck for those working on their health this year
Love all the people that rear their heads to tell others how to lose weight on any Slimming World posts here.

My other half has lost 8 and half stone in just over two years using Slimming World. A phenomenal achievement which he never thought would happen, he eats bigger portions than myself now (the person who said 'eat less and you will LOOSE (sic) weight' is essentially talking rubbish) and has kept the weight off, even with treats and special occasions.

And I make/eat a lot of the SW compatible recipes and they can be more than tasty and satisfying, one thing, if you're not willing to to learn how to cook from scratch (a lost skill among many nowadays) you probably won't succeed on SW. The ammount of resources out there for this stuff is huge, attending the classes just keeps you on track and focused.

Honestly, do what's right for you and don't listen to the plonkers here who want throw in their tuppence worth to try and put others down for no reason other than their own misguided ego.

Have you actually Tried it? Or is this just a generalisation?

A friend of mine has been on SW since Juky/August and has lost over 3 St.

I'm gonna say that it actually does work.
Best of luck for those working on their health this year

I know a lot of people who have had success with Slimming World. Your not starving yourself on it which is a good thing. As long as stay motivated you will lose weight.
Is this the scheme where they tell you a baked potato is 'free'?

Surely you should be monitoring calorific intake and measuring that against energy expenditure and your BMR to come up with a statistical evaluation rather than just eating what you want in your syns.

If it works then great. But if you can lose weight on this plan id be convinced you could do so much more without it.

It's sad that people will put others down. Well done you.
Calories in VS Calories out!
Eat less and you will loose weight, not a rocketscience!

eating 500 calories worth of beans/potatoes/rice is going to fill you up way more than 500 calories of ''weight watchers low fat cookies'',
If you go hungry= you will want to eat more that's about it..
Exercise for weightloss is Pointless, you will just want to eat more and it doesn't burns much calories compared to not just eating junk.

Instead Do the exercise because it increases your mental performance , gives you clearer mind and If you enjoy it! You are not going to loose weight with..

First thing you should do is Drop the cookies/liquid calories/deep fried fastfood etc.. not drop 50squids on this pointless thing.

Btw like 95% of people who Drop weight with these things..End up going back to the same weight they were before or even more- as they can't sustain eating this way!
What you should be focusing is on finding the stuff that you actually enjoy and go from there.
Trust me= You will NOT Enjoy this thing!

btw If you are happy being overweight and are ok with several fold increase in developing nasty diseases when you are older= that's fine! Don't let someone convince you if you don't want to change anything!
If you are not = Just Get your stuff together ,grow up and fix it.
There's no fast-track to it, only Pure Dedication will get you there!

Totally agree. Fat loss is a long term life style change, there is no quick win or secret "diet". Put yourself into a calorie deficit over a long period of time, stay consistent with good food choices, drink more water & cut the alcohol down, you'll see results and changes in your body that will encourage you to keep going.

These companies exist to make money from you! There's a reason people go back over and over again and go up and down in weight. It isn't a healthy way to loss body fat and keep it off. They don't teach you anything about calories and the nutritional value of food and how it fuels the body. Also the emphasis they put on monitoring your weight on a weekly basis and having these weigh in nights is totally counterproductive, depending on how much water you've drank that day or the types of foods you ate has an impact on your weight. Your weight can easily fluctuate up and down throughout the day. I feel monitoring how you look and how your clothes fit is a much more healthy and rewarding way of monitoring progress. At the end of the day friends and family aren't going to ask how much you weigh every time they see you but they'll definitely comment on how good you are looking after you've lost a decent amount of weight!

Absolute pish. This isn't a fad diet plan, done right it's a lifestyle change. You simply learn to cook healthier food and stick with it. They give you the guidelines, it's up to you how closely you follow them, if you want to succeed wihh losing and keeping the weight off, you eat large amounts of healthy foods during the day, never allow yourself to go hungry (like calorie deficient diets) and eat the right things. End of.

Exercise for weighloss is pointless. Seriously i would edit the post before more people read that. I'm not a fan for these programs as I have never needed them and believed education is best. However what works for one doesn't work for all.

But your spreading lies. Exercise increases you BMR and burns stored fat or food ingested depending what's in your tank when you train. If you go to a gym and talk on your phone instead of training, you won't burn much. If you do 15 minutes of HIIT or 45 minutes of plyometrics with intensity, you will.

Additional muscle mass will burn more calories at resting potential, so that contributes to calorific burn.

It's a puzzle, food is just 1 piece of it.

Ok let's just agree to disagree. I do however with you that it will teach you to cook and eat better foods, any home cooked food is better than processed ready meals or take aways but why stick to rules that exclude perfectly healthy food from your diet just because they label them as a "Syn". Moderation is the key.

Eating large amounts of anything healthy or otherwise will not result in loosing weight. Fact. A calorie deficit is not a "diet", the things you eat on a day to day basis the food groups you eat are your eating diet. Eating 200-400 less calories a day compared to who much your body needs to run and live will not make you starving! Drinking more water and eating better foods will make you feel more full and satisfied.

What 'perfectly healthy foods' are labelled as synned? I'm intrigued by that comment.

And if eating a large amount of the right things (as well as having plenty of water) every day won't result in a weight loss, I need you to explain to me how my other half did it simply by doing just that? He never goes without, never feels hungry, can factor treats into his week and still lose/maintain weight and most of all, his weight loss has been steady and long term? This goes against nearly all the comments you made in your post.

PS: He's not the only example I know personally to have done this, including one of my work colleagues, the person that told me that told me about it after she went from a size 20 to a size 10 using Slimming World alone?

People who lose weight on slimming world or any other diet are at a calorie deficit. It's impossible otherwise. If your body needs 2000 calories and you eat 2500 calories of broccoli you will gain weight. Because you are eating healthier foods which are less calorie dense then junk food you will eat less calories. Junk food causes hunger because of insulin spikes so you eat more.
Is this not just calorie control that you can do your self with any foods

Essentially. But it provides a platform and social element to it. I have seen lots of people succeed with it when hopelessly struggling beforehand. I have to be careful what I say because I have never been to slimming world so wouldn't be sensible for me to have an opinion for myself. My issue with it has always been the whole 'WIMMIN ONLY' feeling about it . Could just be terrible marketing.

While it is 'women heavy' at the groups and I do feel that SW could do with better marketing for men, they do include a lot of male success stories on their websites, but the 'taboo' around men tackling weight loss is very much a society-wide issue rather than just a SW problem, just look at all the go-to publicised weight loss companies and their promotion material is nearly all targeted at women. They could make men-centric groups, have more male group leaders, etc.

That's the upsetting part. Because these groups do have a positive influence on people. But I guess it is a business and needs to make money - so they are targeting their client base accordingly I suppose.

Yep, attending the group does help keep you focussed and I've not heard many negative stories of 'fat shaming' when gains are made, in fact quite the opposite at my partner's group, they usually discuss as to why they think a gain was made, what could be done differently, etc. I'm not entirely sure how to make weight loss appealing to men, but I do think the women-centric focus to their marketing puts most men off.

I can’t exercise at all due to my disabilities so slimming world was perfect for me as I can’t burn any calories. It’s taught me however to eat better. When you have physical & mental health disabilities sometimes the wrong food is the easiest to eat & can be cheaper!
I know that the changes I’ve made will need to be life & not a quick fix. I won miss slinky & woman of the year, it’s not even a year yet & 4st lighter. I’m proud of myself for my achievements & the support you receive outweighs doing it on your own. It helped me make new friends & get out of the same four walls. This has improved my mental state of mind even if my physical side will never change.
Well done to everyone on their weight loss however they achieve it. What’s right for one person maybe not right for another!! Just make the change for you & nobody else!
