Thanks for this. I went hunting on the Anova site and decided on the V2 which, after the code shipped at just under £99. Probably should have spent a bit more for the new one but they look quite similar - no wi-fi.

Unfortunately it's a poor choice of stock images and wording on the website. If you look on Amazon you will see the 220V volt versions are both pictured with US style plugs. A friend of mine that purchased this deal just opened up his order and confirmed both items are fitted with a standard UK 3 pin plug and rated 220V.

I originally started out with this type of peel but switched to a metal one a couple of years ago. With the wooden peel, it was necessary to make up the pizza on the peel because it wouldn't slide under a made up pizza without snagging it. I always used either flour or coarse semolina to help it slide off and onto the stone. I switched to the metal peel and started making up the pizzas on the work surface, still with a fine scattering of coarse semolina underneath. The trick with the metal peel is to rub down the sharp edges with some fine wet and dry paper so they are rounded off. This prevents the edge from catching as you slide the peel under to remove it from the work surface. I still use the wooden peel. It's my 'taking off' peel, which is more suitable for cutting the pizza on before serving. The next pizza is already on the metal peel ready to go in the oven ;) This is a good price for these wooden peels. I'm half tempted to get a spare as mine is starting to wear down from all that pizza cutting.

8% TCB... and use semolina or polenta on the base of the pizza so that it'll slide off the peel easier.

I find that the moisture in the base tends to mean it sticks to the metal peels - the wood peels are very smooth (and can be oiled) and the base just slides off without catching.

I work in a US company, my boss in US is a big time BBQ nut, he goes in BBQ smoking competitions etc with his pals, it's a huge industry over there. Just bought new house with big South facing garden, tempted to have a crack at this!
