Hi @matt2222 thanks for sharing your first deal :) This does seem to be the cheapest available currently, as other members have highlighted too, so added some additional information and voted hot,

matt2222

Think it might be the classic ‘I’m not paying £140 for a rucksack HUKD” (lol)

Jiffy

Typically selling for about £220 elsewhere so should be hot!

taxboy

SRS are very reputable and have been around for years

derbyco1_.

This is a great bag, I have the 24L version. No idea about the company but it's a good price.

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 25mm F1.8 Lens - £199 @ SRS Microsystems£199
Great fast prime lens, the 25mm is really versatile, great in low light conditions, also looks to be available in silver.
zzzz

This oly is nearer the Panasonic 25mm f1.4 Leica - £350, than the 25/1.7 £130 A very good lens tested by lensrentals against 3 more expensive 25mm lenses and was their choice

Walija

I have the panasonic 25, lovely crisp lens. Heat for this though ... (y) 🏼

SPT101

This is a great deal and I think better than the Panasonic 25mm. I’ve had both but always struggled with lens flare on the Panasonic.

number1andy

I second the 20mm 1.7, useful if you prefer something a little wider than the 25mm. I never tried the Panasonic 25mm so can’t comment! :)

jazzuk777

There's a Panasonic at 25mm though, goes about £150, once or twice around £110 and reviews suggest it's not worth buying this Olympus over that.

https://www.atomos.com/cameras I think sony a5100 one of cheapest options. As mentioned abovee - M4/3 have a 2X crop factor - a 50mm lens will look like 100mm. Not so good for wide / indoors. Better to try used sony nex for manual lenses Focus peaking is helpful but focus magnify is better. Olympus sensors haven't changed much since 16mp introduced 2012?? Only top dollar sensors are better https://www.dxomark.com/Cameras/

argt7

Thanks, I understand now, much appreciated for the effort, time and information! (y)

alsproject

As the camera is mirrorless, you will need to turn on focus peaking (a focusing aid built into the camera) when using legacy lenses to make sure that the element you want is in focus but you will still use the focus ring on the lens to focus. There is an element in cameras called crop factor which is basically compares the sensor size to a full frame sensor (or 35mm film) which you need to bear in mind so in micro 4/3 terms, as the sensor is half the size of full frame, it has a 2x crop factor

ah_heng

Thanks... I was hopefull at this price :)

bobbyzero

No, you can have a live viewfinder on your phone over wifi using the Olympus app, but it's not instant, noticeable lag

Cheapest I've ever seen this.
joegoody

I have the fisheye and its very good. Great fun. I use RawTherapee to edit and I have a lens profile for it so I can remove the fisheye effect if i fancy too so its double versatile

triobot

Great buy but if the fish eye body cap lens was at this price, I'd purchase this.

wansheet

Couldn't resist. Something to experiment with. Reviews aren't too bad considering it's price. Good find.

Thanks. It's £29 delivered (white or silver) from their EBay store. Went for the silver as something fun for a little Panasonic GF5 I picked up earlier in the week.

I've always wanted to get the 50mm lens, but after seeing recommendations from here and checking out some reviews, I bought this one. Now I have to wait for it to be restocked :|

Oneday77

Everyone who reads into photography always hears about the Nifty Fifty. People then go in to say that a 50mm lens is a must to most kit bags and that it’s very versatile. While most of that is true, that is only advice when using either a full frame or 35mm camera. In the case of of DX Nikon bodies, including the pro level d500. The 35mm should be used as opposed to 50mm. Then just about everything you read about of heat is the equivalent.

BadCredit

Just get it. Magic lens. Takes wonderful pictures without working too hard.

grove39

From what i've read, don't bother and wait for the 1.4 when it comes out. One person on a photography forum said the 1.4 was pretty good (Canon only at the moment) but was actually giving the 1.8 away for nothing as it was that bad.

Don’t know where you are in the UK but try to get to Bodnant in North Wales, its a knockout in good weather, or even not so good weather. I can also recommend Speake Hall in Liverpool.

I would also look at getting a 50mm lens of some sort for portraits. In terms of 4K, the nearest thing to the E-M10 that will do 4K is the Panasonic G7. It's a great camera but there is no stabilisation system in the body. If you are not fussed about 4K stick with the E-M10.

its fine, sometimes the wind needs to be long, im new to this area but have had the intention of moving upward and away from my simple and old fuji finepix f800exr, im going to be spending quite a bit of time away over the next few months and would just like to do a little more with a better camera if possible, the camera is going to be used for general use and scenery , and some night work and maybe then some astrophotography, there are a number of lenses that keep cropping up in the capable budget category one being the rokinon 14mm 2.8. first question is , will this sort of cover most bases for me for now how do you feel about it not having 4k capabilities, i dont shoot a lot of film and im not one to constantly need the newest of formats or specifications but would like to know if there was anything similar in this range that did shoot 4k, i briefly looked at the mark iii but it was too much of a leap for me. also how long after spending 4 days reading do i stop waking up shouting either, focal lengths at random and or words like abberations.

spatter

Tell you the truth film is so forgiving that it will probably be better than you think. Plus each picture actually has a real value in that it cost you something! Buy a 50 1.4. it will probably be around £60. It's a great lens. And processing is a bit tricky now. Look at Bristol cameras as they have a really cheap postal service. Or AG PHOTOGRAPHIC for a better and more expensive one....

moorjock

Will look out for that one, not got my first film back yet hoping the pics dont match the ones i used to take on my instamatic when i was a kid

spatter

The Sony has way better AF. I'm sure the Olympus takes great photos though. It looks good.
