Thanks, with the gfx market at the moment that unfortunate.

ComingInHot

F means the intergated graphics card is disabled - you need to install a dedicated GPU.

ws007

Hi I know what K is for, what's the F?

7777777

Good to see Intel humbling and reducing the prices to attractive levels, performance wise they are not that far behind AMD but the power consumption is rather bad. This cpu has 65W TDP which could be very misleading info to some,it consumes well over 200W on its own when fully loaded.

Absolutely. More a comment on the parlous state of the rollout of cards than the deal.

danj906

I agree it's over inflated. But what you paid 16 months ago, is a mute point. This is about finding deals today and I can't find a new 1650 card instock any cheaper on the Web.

UEFI

Thanks for the heads up, people must be insane to even think of such an old card.

Sam_Crow

Ridiculous, considering I got my 1660s 16 months ago for 199.

_sion

I agree it's crazy money but that's the market at the moment. I've been trying to get a 3070 for the last month or so and have had no luck but refuse to pay scalper £1000+ price.

And a quick look on pricerunner and the AMD estimate seems a bit low too. Especially if you want a mobo with good vrm to help the boost clocks :)

tim.sarai

I have this processor and it’s an excellent cpu for the money

astateoftrance

That is a option but it is a used processor and only has a 1 year warranty. This should have 3 years.

Jonathan_Smith

Which is actually rathering interesting, same price as a 5600x lmao Wouldn't you need one of the "better" b560 motherboards like the b560 steel legend for £120? it has better VRM cooling and would help the 10700F boost clocks stay higher for longer or something along those lines.

rprp

I think your B560 estimate is high. They start at about £75. That would make a B560+10700F about £310.

Sounds like a good match, a 470 board would give you a upgrade route though.

greg.troy

I'm using a gtx 1660 oc 6gb. Hoping for the 3060 later this month. Been looking at B460 mobos for around 100 quid. The i5 10400f can be got for £130ish so very similar price to the i7 9th gen chip alone.....

astateoftrance

First I am no expert, but sounds like upgrading the motherboard and going 10th gen would be the best option, especially as you want more features. It would also give you the option of upgrading to the new 11th gen if you get a 470/490 board. I am actually in a similar position, I have a h110 mobo and a i5 7500. Thinking of getting a 470/490 board then either a 10400F or a 10600K. Just not sure how much I want to spend :D What GPU are you using ?

greg.troy

So for someone with no idea or intention to OC and aimed at a mid-range rig, as mine is, the F is ideal? Would it be best to upgrade mobo to support 10th gen and go i5 or stick 9th gen and go i7? My mobo is very basic atm, no M2 support which I'd like. Sorry for the questions :)

astateoftrance

The K means you can overclock it, also I think they usually have a higher base frequency. Any non F CPU should have integrated graphics.

I'm wondering whether to keep my 7700k until 2022 when new ryzen comes out. the new intel is literally just more of the same. 10% increase tops probably. rumours are next zen will be up to 40% faster

henry.ford

Sure, and I'd love to get a 10700k at that price but I can't jump for some reason. Just me and my nerves :S

uthypranks_TV

Well it was allowed on this site and they have pretty strict ebay rules.

Tired of waiting for 5900x so got this to replace 3900x which I'll sell. Only game so should be better for me. Thanks, OP.

ladaowner

some gaming wins and some games it losses. The thing is if you buying this just for games then the 5600x is a better buy 5800x with rtx 3070 Or 5600x with rtx 3070 will be almost same FPS less than 5 fps difference There is always the argument that in few years more than 6 cores will be needed but by then I it would be time to upgrade to something else. Productivity is a different matter 5800x is way better.

jwsg

From that video the 5800x is ahead in the productivity tests but behind in some of the games at 1080 and 1440

playstak

Received mine today with next day delivery at first they said it will come Monday which is normal because of weekend but was surprised to see it came today.

jwsg

I was planning to go AMD this time - specifically 5900x until AMD decided to only supply single CCD 5600x and 5800x in quantity. The point about Intel having iGPU is not is it actually being used for games - although its handy when first bringing up a build - but half the chip is given over to a GPU and still Intel are competitive - AMD prices are too high for 6 or 8 core no iGPU on a 7nm process If the new Intel chips do actually have 15% more single thread perf then the reviews will again favour Intel - power consumption is never headlined - no doubt AMD will drop prices right after I buy one
