Those headphone jacks can be replaced very easily - no soldering required! You just need to unscrew the controller, the jack socket is held in by friction, fix them for pennies!

Purchased a pair and had to return because the mic wasn't in the box. To be fair to the seller they replaced them very efficiently. Shame the headphone sockets on all of my XBO controllers are toast...don't seem to last five minutes (shock) .

I got these recently and the "refurb" referred to a replaced connector. They didnt do a very good job and it started to crackle after and hour or so of use. I reworked it and used glue lined headshrink, which they didnt, so there is good strain relief. My repair is solid and it now works a dream, but if you're not able to resolder the connector then I'd stay away.

Amazon link for prime users same seller Edit Cheaper if you buy the 50P version The Recon 50P and Recon 50X are identical, outside of branding and color £11.50

Ordered for my boys thanks

I think this is an excellent price for these. The broadband extender 600 turns any powersocket into an internet port and means you can connect up any wired product to your broadba… Read more

Powerline networks aren't great between floors. I get 10mb/s downloads on the same floor but it does down to around 2mb between floors. This is an old 1950s house though. If your goal is full house coverage you're better off with a mesh network or careful placement of wireless routers/extenders

It's a drop off. But it depends on what you want to use them for. For just browsing the internet, WiFi is usually good enough. You'd really want to use these for a specific reason. I've found that they're generally much more stable and consistent than a WiFi connection. I use one on a Vita TV for remote play. On WiFi it was unplayable.

WTF are you on about...

They need to be the same brand

An "Internet Port"? Surely you mean an "Ethernet port"?

BT Dual Band WIFI upgrade (for older routers) £19.99 @ Telephones online£19.99
Bit specialist this so apologies and will probably go cold LOL! This adds 5GHz Wi-Fi to your older router that may not have 5GHz built in enabling newer devices to take advantage … Read more

Bt should give you the better router .leave them and rejoin?

Had one of these years ago for about £8 at pc world. Rather pointless unless you still only have a 2.4ghz only router or a computer without wireless. Apart from a printer and an ancient laptop all of my kit is AC now. Spend a bit more and get an AC router, will give much better service over time. It is worth remembering that basic 5ghz has a very poor range compared with 2.4.

I, too, bought one at £7.98. I haven't found a way (and an email to BT customer care confirmed the same) to use the access point as a WiFi extender. Perhaps the firmware can be flashed?

Just in case it is not obvious from the description, this access point does 5GHz WiFi only. BT designed it to sit right next to the old 2.4GHz HomeHub routers. I bought a couple of these back when PC World was flogging them for £7.98 delivered a couple of years ago. I am still using the USB WiFi sticks today, which obviously do both 2.4 and 5GHz. Can anyone help with my query? I really appreciate any help. Thanks!!

Most rural areas are cat 4 LTE which gets you 30mbps in practice. The posh areas selected by EE in cities get cat 6 which is 2 channel authentication and your device needs 2 radios to make use of it to get the 60mbps this is not 5g ?!? Nowhere in the country does 5g..... Yet

So can someone clarify the following (country of use will be the USA): 1. Using a 3 SIM with preloaded data, an Android phone that enables WiFi hotspot to allow other devices to connect will not work as 3 blocks tethering. True or False? 2. Using the same 3 SIM with preloaded data in a MiFi device will allow multiple devices to connect and use the data. True or false? Having experienced scenario one last year and being told via this thread that scenario 2 works.... I'm a little confused as to what the difference is. Both personal hotspot and MiFi are the same thing in essence. Why would scenario 1 not work but scenario 2 does? Any clarification/help is much appreciated guys. Thanks.

got my 790s around 2 years ago... they are prefect ! cost 180 at that time, but well worth of money

Atleast you picked up on.

As far as I'm aware those devices are only for a wired ethernet cable to go through them, so good for connecting up laptops/desktop pcs that are far from the router... Also they are pretty expensive as you pay a lot for the 2000Mbp/s transfer rate even though the fastest internet speeds you're looking at in the UK domestically are around 300Mbp/s (Bt fttp, virgin media fibre and EE Fibre max+) There are powerline adapters that extend wifi, TP-Link TL-WPA4220KIT 2-Port Powerline Adapter WiFi Starter Kit

I set one of these up for a friend (actually a better model) and also couldn't see any improvement.

i have tp link av homeplug 2000 and i need to extend a wifi in the kitchen, will this work?

Useless. tried just that with one last week and it made zero difference. Returned it and swapped for a powerline system. Much better.

I'm not sure about back garden. It emits a wifi network around itself, I've used one in my own home set up to create a wifi signal for my bedroom and that has worked. If you put it as close to the garden as possible, the wifi network could reach all the way into the garden but it depends on how large your garden is and also on a number of different things, glass interferes with wifi signals more than you'd think, so if the door is closed that will have a big negative impact on the signal. It works best when you're in the same room as it, basically.
