Thanks for the tips.
I have a pair of Specialised RBX Road Shoes - they retail for around £75 but I got them on sale for £38.99. Check Rutland Cycling, they usually have nice discounts. You'll want SPD shoes and SPD pedals. I have the Shimano PD-EH500 pedals which has a clipless and flat side. Cleats will come with all clipless pedals and these pedals had the multi-release cleat. If yours don't come with those, you can buy multi release cleats for really cheap.
Thanks. I plan to try clipless on one bike. I actually find the straps on toe clips fairly easy to get out but then I don't have them that tight. Sounds like the multi easy release cleats are the way to go; any recommendations for what ones & a cheap pair of clip-in shoes (preferably ones you can walk in normally ie. mtb/flat).
I think so, yes. The strap on fabric pedals could prevent you from moving your foot entirely by acting as a barrier. With clipless, if you get the multi easy release cleats you ncan pull in any direction to get out
how so; I have used them for a couple of years. Do you think clipless are easier to get out of in a crash?
