Thanks for posting that, it's nice to know that Active took matters fairly seriously anyway! I think we owe it to Whittlebury Hall to badmouth them at any opportunity whenever we see them post online offers! Let people know they are not to be trusted.
I do not think there is much more that we can do, but I have posted my experience on TripAdvisor - from the recent reviews, we might not be missing much!!
I received a reply to my email to Active Hotels today - reproduced as it came - sorry about the length!! Thank you for choosing Active Hotels. Firstly we do apologise for the time it has taken to get back to you with regards to your reservation at the Whittlebury Hall and Spa. We do appreciate your time and patience. We have investigated this case and we have found that the hotel made a human error where the incorrect rate of £5 was entered onto the system and subsequently rooms at that price were able to be reserved online. We have contacted the hotel and have spoken to Tracy (revenue manager) who refused to give the room at £5 but still offered the discounted rate you were previously advised of. As Tracy refused to honour the original rate, we passed this case onto the hotel's account manager who resides within our office. As Tracy could not deal with this any further, she passed this onto her general manager. Our account manager has been in talks with the management at the hotel and unfortunately, they will still not honour the £5 rate. The hotel's original offer to you does still stand should you wish to take it, if not, you may cancel your reservation. We are carrying out an internal investigation with the hotel but this will not affect your reservation any further, the hotels decision is now final and as mentioned, they will only offer the rate previously offered without further negotiation. If you do wish to accept the rate that you were offered for your reservation, I kindly ask you to contact the hotel to confirm this. If you wish you cancel your reservation, please follow the link below: http://www.activehotels.com/wl/servlet/cancellation/listemailbookings?hotelid=231222&guestEmailfirstname.lastname@example.org&trkref=AHB&language=en Please also see below for the hotel contact details: Whittlebury Hall and SpaPhone : +441327 857857+441327 850478Fax : +441327858987E-mail : email@example.com Unfortunately, in this case, there is nothing further we can do as we have no influence in the rates and also the contract, you have, is between yourself and the hotel, but obviously we will always help where we can which is what we have tried to do in this situation, unfortunately to no avail. If you did want to pursue this matter further please contact the hotel directly on the details above or alternatively you can use the following email for their groups general manager's PA who will pass the case onto the hotel's general manager: firstname.lastname@example.org We sincerely apologise for the situation and hope that despite this, you will consider using our services in the future. Given up on this offer, managed to book at a small B & B, which looks lovely. Still paying £70/night for B & B, but after this episode I prefer to give the money to a family run business than a big group who are only thinking of their profits. Needed to get specific dates booked and time was running out too, didn't want to end up with nowhere to stay. As it was most of the B & B's were already ully booked for the dates I wanted. Tried looking at cottages but they didn't have the dates either, so if you need a room for a certain date, I would start looking elsewhere quickly. Good luck in persuing this offer but I think you are flogging a dead horse. Sorry!
Then ....... Interesting - but is this a reply to MY e-mail?!? He seems most concerned to deny any deliberate deception but I don't think I inferred anything like that, did I? Anyone else written anything which seems to match up better?!?

I have been on this like i've said and i would reccomend to anyone its was the best spa i have every been to honestly guys I would reccomend 100% (great for a treat for the wife or whatever)
It's near Towcester in Northamptonshire. It is quite a nice hotel, I've stayed there twice for conferences but I can't personally vouch for the spa. There's also a golf course directly opposite the hotel and it's diffocult to get a mobile phone signal inside the hotel, although ths might be a good thing if you're going to relax !
where abouts is this
