Bought one of these a few years back...and quickly realised that I suffer from VR motion sickness
    BubaMan's avatar
And then played games with static environments & teleport movement, right?

After many years of occasional VR gaming, I still get motion sick in VR with full locomotion but there's a ton of comfort settings in almost all VR games these days (vignetting, snap turn, teleport) and there's loads of games that don't need any settings, as they don't have locomotion (Job Simulator, Beat Saber, Puzzling Places, Moss, I Expect You To Die, Trover, etc).

    What hassle?

I have a Quest 2, bought it at £199 a while back and really quite happy with it. Previously I was using a Rift. Remember you can use a USB3 cable for PC-Link to play PCVR stuff you may already on Steam, Viveport, Oculus Rift and also if you had a Rift then there's a chunk of games that were cross-buy and so they are available to you on the Quest 2 for free, and vice versa.

Yes I am sure Quest 3 is an improvement but personally Quest 2 I think is pretty good if you don't really want to spend the extra £300 or whatever and aren't that bothered about the overly hyped mixed-reality (others opinions may vary).
    hukdchris's avatar
How much of an improvement did you find it over the rift?

Any one knows where to get the prescription lens to order in the UK all the ones I can find are abroad
    Dirty-mog's avatar
Yes I went with Adlens who are based in the uk

Tempted but all the games look terrible. Anyone have one and know of decent games?
    jcrider's avatar
In agreement with the other comments, you can use it in many games. Just like in the video below, I also use it Microsoft Flight Simulator and it's extremely immersive!

They used to be great in JL. The recent CEO who has now been kicked made so many negative changes and outsourced the call centres etc. The new boss has a lot to put right to make them as good as they used to be.
    dazaman89's avatar
Their call centres are an utter shambles and that's no disrespect to where the folk are from.

There's a big language barrier and I don't think people are trained properly.

I'm really disappointed as I think they've gone backwards as a company.

I regret seeing deals like this sometimes. I've always wanted to try VR, but the prices out me off. This is a good price, although people are saying they'd rather save their money and get the Meta quest 3.

Problem is, the meta quest 3 is almost half a grand which is a lot of money. I own a decent gaming laptop - can I get buy with the mq2? What else can I use the vr headset for? Can I watch movies on it?
    BubaMan's avatar
The Quest 2 is a brilliant headset, especially for this money!
But it is 3½ years old now, so it will show its age a bit.
If you are planning to use a VR headset with a PC, the Quest 2 is perfect, as your PC will be doing the hard work.

The Quest 2 will play 3D movies and VR animations natively or via your PC.
It has a huge library of games and apps to run natively and via PCVR and (most importantly) it is wireless.

Having had both the Q2 & Q3, the main benefits of the Quest 3 are the colour pass through (much better mixed reality) and an uplift in the general specs.

Due to the huge customer base of Quest 2 owners, I would expect that most developers will continue to support it for a few years to come.

are these suitable for people who wear glasses?
    copperspock's avatar
You can get glasses spacers for them. Some people manage fine, but others find the glasses get a bit too close to the lenses for comfort.
But you can get special prescription lenses for the Quest 2 anyway.

Is this based on using an account specific code for £25 off? I’m guessing the code is MYJL25OFF150?
I cannot see this on my account…

Thanks OP for sharing but this seems fishy… over 100 degrees heat in about 10 mins for a deal available to a very limited number of people… (edited)

Better off spending £5 extra with amazon. John Lewis are terrible with their warranties now.
    DonLeo17's avatar
My 3yr old TV was having an issue. They sent out an engineer and another week later it was fixed free of charge.
Extended warranty is really worth it, especially when it doesn't cost extra.
  11. cost_of_living's avatar
    Shouldn't it be 174.99?
  12. Frank_the_tank's avatar
Looks like a great deal but isn’t the Quest 3 considerably better?
    sidesey's avatar
The Quest 3 is better in every way except battery life. The 128 Q2 is likely to be in short supply soon, as the 256 version is. Meta are probably releasing a quest 3 lite soonish. It’s rumoured to have a Q3 chip, with Q2 style lenses. This is a great price for this Q2, but If it was my money I’d most probably wait and also get a 256 or 512 too. From personal experience, games are getting a lot bigger and will continue to do so. If you have a decent gaming PC, then less storage should be ok though. (edited)

I haven't much experience of VR except for a few plays on grandkids quest 2 first on some sort of exercise fitness game and then a boxing game.Even though graphics do look a bit dated by the time I was finished I was sweating my bolks off but had had a really fun cardio workout .I would get this just for the calories I would burn on it.

Am I right in thinking this is account specific? I wouldn't mind ordering, but doesn't seem to be coming in my My Rewards.
    LindaMariaWilliams's avatar
    I've got the same problem

It's a great headset! Just like in the video I also use it for Microsoft Flight Simulator, it's brillant!!:

Do we feel this will stay the same price or get cheaper in the future, say in Aug-sept? I want to buy one, but I'm not fully 100% sure. If they are still the same price in summer, I'll bite.
    copperspock's avatar
I'd say if they do get discounted further, it won't be by much. This is the cheapest I think it's ever been,
  24. tomy159's avatar
    Hi all,
I'm amateur on this never have it,
Just got question it is possible to connect with phone and play movies from phone? Or from shield pro?
    CyDoNiA's avatar
There are apps that can do that anyway. Skybox allows you to sit in a virtual cinema and watch stuff. I think you can possibly cast to it but I haven't tried. There's a load of apps though like YouTube and Skybox that allow you to watch stuff inside it. There is even now a "laying down" mode where the headset knows you are laying on your back or something. Not tried it though as it was added recently.
