It doesn’t come with Move Controllers, very few of the packs do, they are hard to find. Not all games need them, but some do.

1616french

I'm talking about controllers etc

joeydeacon

It’s supposed to come with VR Worlds (my own did)

1616french

Does this come with everything you need apart from games?

Yeah there’s no denying the fun to be had with minigames. My daughters like playing Summer Funland on it quite a lot. Unfortunately the people who pass VR off as a gimmick tend to point out the more “pick up and put down” types of games and ignore the fully immersive titles that can leech hours upon days out of your life.

joeydeacon

You’ve just reminded me I haven’t yet tried Wipeout in VR and I still need to pick up Saints & Sinners. One of the fav VR games in our household is actually Carnival Games believe it or not

Wolfmoon810

Fantastic review, care to elaborate? I’ve owned one since launch, played countless titles and had lots of fun. If you’ve only played minigames then I would understand, but the likes of Skyrim, Borderlands, Resident Evil VII, Wipeout, TWD Saints and Sinners etc. are unbelievably immersive in VR.

It’s worth it, at the very lease the PSVR kit is a cheap entry point if you have the PlayStation anyway, some games like creed and boxvr are great for working out, space pirate trainer and superhot vr are great shooters and things like Moss show how more traditional type games can be integrated into new styles of gaming, it won’t replace normal play but is a perfect supplement for when you want something different

dragonfury

Always been on the fence with the VR kit. Can share their experience? Is it just a gimmick or worth it?

Bon = Good Tres Bon = Very Good Personally I’d avoid these variants

1616french

Wish I could understand what the current ones from Amazon warehouse are being sold for at the cheaper price. Anybody translate please😁?

adampeach

I bought one and it is a V1, also came with no headphones :(

EnisE

Bought one. Hope I get a v2 version. First I bought the one without camera and was a bit sad. Luckily I saw this one with camera. Cause those cameras are pretty expensive right now. 130 gbp on Amazon uk.

Darren_Wall

I bought this and the codes for the game have already been used, so I have only the used camera and VR set. The company said that as its used I should expect that the codes might have been used! But it is advertised as VR with Games!! I asked for refund to compensate for the lack of games or for them to supply new codes. I have had neither and still waiting,

Yeah could be - mine looked new in everyway apart from the bags were open (all but one) no headphones and didn't work. I've since noticed the converter I was using was specifically for small appliances (toothbrushes etc) so that could very well be why it wasn't working. I've packed the whole thing up now and bought the Game offer at £200 with Ironman. Will cost me roughly the same once I return Ironman. Plus I'll have the headphones. Huge faff though.

joeydeacon

Hi mate, just seen a message elsewhere about a HDMI issue not so long ago but I can't find it now amongst my notifications, was that yourself? My own arrived today, damaged packaging (sleeve only) to the point it looked like someone couldn't get the box out easily and destroyed it, but the PSVR and everything inside the box itself was brand new.

CBeems

Just received one that was broken. Damaged packaging. No headphones. Didn't work. Sending it back. Prepare for possible heartache with these.

copperspock

Ideally yeah, though some games like Killing Floor Incursion have a good workaround where you can still have smooth locomotion with them.

joeydeacon

Hi mate, just Googled this, can be a faulty HDMI cable issue possibly, do you have spares to try? For what it's worth I also got a USB error, went round in circles until I found I hadn't plugged the cable into the processor box fully, these things can happen (was more akin to a puzzle setting it up)

Mine arrived. No headphones in the box. Headset says "x-HDMI". Sony troubleshooting steps offer to set up a repair. Sending this back.

I felt it was a good time to sell it anyway. Got close to what I paid and will save the money for a newer VR headset. Once the new ones are confirmed as only a few months away I guess the Quest will drop in price a bit. I’m hoping for a boost in resolution for the PC link (driving sims don’t fare too well with the current resolution imo).

Out of stock now unless you want to wait until mid august from iSaleUk

wesleyad

we've just done the thing of adding a battery pack to the back and it's made a huge difference for both me and the wife. Highly recommend for people getting neck issues or sore faces

iceburglettuce

Just one of the Velcro ones. It took the weight of my cheeks which was great, but I think it could have been that strap which caused my neck problem. Probably put even more of the pressure on the back of my neck. I had no problems with the Rift S, but I’m not going to spend another £100 or so to cure a problem that shouldn’t be there.

robmclarenfan

Yeah i have the 64 and its plenty!

Mine turned up today, exactly in the same condition as your own eg outer sleeve torn, everything in box brand new.

avsie

I bought damaged packaging PSVR from Amazon Warehouse in the past - was like new in the box and the outer cardboard sleeve of the box had slight rip - well worth buying this way.

PurplePerson

I know that looked at in isolation this looks like a good deal, but joey did also post a deal for the Mega Pack, for very little more, which (presuming the digital codes are still usable - which they should be), is clearly the much, much better deal.

Loving it. But cannot get move controller for love nor reasonable money ;(

jco83

(popcorn) Sounds awesome

joeydeacon

It's great, not really experienced any motion sickness so far over and above from Hide & Seek, although I think that was down to the camera controls not being great. Watching my other half *$!* herself and start screaming 'I want to get off' whilst playing Until Dawn: Rush of Blood was the funniest thing I have seen this year.

jco83

So how are you finding it so far !? (I'm considering getting ;) )

H0TDEALER

Oh

mikeydalby

I wouldn't waste any money on this outdated technology that will not be relevant soon. The oculus quest should be getting a version 2 soon

XP200

This is perfect for watching media, like taking your couch or bed to the imax cinema, gaming wise it is fine for seated sim vr games, if you have a PC that can do VR then you can stream VR games to it like Elite Dangerous and Dirt rally, works great with PBFX VR, and the lens are very good indeed, and the weight is also good, and nothing even close to the breeze block that is the quest straped onto your face. lol

commsbiff

You're right, that was a very detailed and accurate post from CMHammond - nice one. For what it's worth, I think you've made the right decision. I had the Gear VR with a flagship Samsung and was wholly disappointed with VR in general thinking we're years and years from a useable solution. When a friend recommended the Quest, I got one on a whim without much expectation. I have to say I was absolutely blown away by it. At £400 they are amazing value. However, they are beyond some people's budget. If the Go is within your reach, get it. My advice to anyone who can't afford the Go would be wait until you can. Phone based VR will give you the wrong impression of the technology.

I have had an Oculus Quest for a few months now and it is the best piece of tech I have bought since I got an Amiga A500 back in 1987. nothing else makes people go wow so much. Some handy hints: Firstly search on youtube 'how to wear oculus quest' and watch the video titled 'hint you are doing it wrong' - turns out we were wearing it wrong for the first 5 weeks and now its much more comfortable. Next oculus link cables are overpriced. I found a good USB3 to USB3 C cable by ANKER on amazon for £8. (The cable that comes with it isnt suitable as a link cable and is only for charging) Virtual deskop is amazing. Ive have a Geforce 1060 6B card but quite and old dual core i5 processor and it warns its under min spec but some titles work. The main factor is the PC has to be directly connected to your router (not via powerline adapters) and the quest has to be wirelessly connected to 5GHz band otherwise you don't get the throughput (lots of videos on yt about this) I've not tried HL Alyx, but Nvidia VR Funhouse is fun and free on Steam. Beatsaber is by far the best game on it but only if you add custom songs to it via beastsaber website. We use it daily as a form of exercise. also check out sidequest website for huge amount of free content Downsides: The gap around the nose is quite big which lets in light but after a while you don't notice it. It also means that the lenses steam up quite often so keep a clean glasses cloth handy.

kos1c

Sadly not sure how well the 1060 3gb will run on it. But the headset on its own is a good amount of fun. Especially with beat saber! (y)

karl.jonesJ6s

Thanks for taking the time to write that butty, was a big help. I’ve a gaming pc but rarely use it tbh, much more of a console/casual gamer so have gone for the 128 (mostly so I can play it sooner) Not sure how my gfx card will hold up for VD (it’s a 1060 3gb so not technically supported). Comments much appreciated (y)

kos1c

If you don't own a gaming pc/laptop then 128gb is a good way to go. If you do. Then the 64gb is more understandable. I got a gaming laptop and just got the 64gb model. After a few games, 40+ beat saber songs side loaded. I still got plenty of storage left. You won't be running triple A games on this device without a gaming machine. But there's plenty of content on the store as it is. Plus movies/TV series etc can be useful to fill up that extra storage. (y) Also keep in mind as people build for the platform. Bigger gaming experiences will come to it. Having that storage will be useful. For the device it's self. The first major issue I found is that it's a little front heavy, so my neck gets a very minor strain holding this up (more noticeable when sitting down checking out the store). It's a great around piece of kit and with the Oculus link (via WiFi it's impressive Avrl (I think it's called) and really impressive with the cable as you can push the quality with debug tool). The difference between the rift 1 and this isn't much, same game play experience. But as I take it from mine to the gf house. This will be so much easier in a small carry case and not worrying about sensors.

dougster79

You should be fine with that graphics card. Lowest is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 / AMD Radeon R9 290 equivalent or better and recommended is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060, AMD Radeon RX 480 equivalent or better. CPU min Intel Core i5-4590/AMD FX 8350 equivalent or better. RAM min 4GB. I agree the issue you might have is with 2.4 Ghz wireless connection. All the tutorials on youtube strongly recommend using 5Ghz. Also worth mentioning I had my PC connected via wireless and found things a bit off in VirtualDesktop. I decided to run an ethernet cable instead to the router and it plays flawlessly now. To test your PC compatibility you can download and run this: https://store.steampowered.com/app/323910/SteamVR_Performance_Test/
