All VR Headset Discounts, Offers and Sale - July 2019
Honestly, go for the newer rift S. It's £70 difference (a lot still) but the benefit is much greater. If your system is bottom end it might not cope with the USB requirements the original rift and sensors demand.
Think im gonna pull the trigger on this, do I need anything else? Know my system is bottom end but worth a shot. Though might have to loose one of my monitors... just got used to dual, First world problems
Oh well, W10 is mandatory for it to work.......but all is not lost, there is a rumour that MS and oculus might be have a even bigger partnership with the next xbox, rumor has it the Rift S or a xbox Scarlett branded Rift S might be supported on the console for vr gaming....Forza 8 in vr possibly could be here next year....:-)
Thanks man, it's all new to me tho I don't have Win 10 and my "best" is a Sandy Bridge i7 but I'm eyeing the Ryzen Zen 2 for a new build.
Yes, it streams from your xbox X to your PC, which your VR heasdset is connected to, you need W10 though, MS and Oculus had a partner ship going a few years ago, and from that came the xbox one streaming app with CV1 support.....check out Yt for videos of it in action............Xbox X........to PC with windows 10....to your CV1.
If you wanted to play a movie on this one would you be able to send it over wifi from an android/pc or do you need to copy it to the internal memory?
These are aimed more at media consumption now, so not directly comparable to the much more expensive quest. And they are far better than mobile vr for media and gaming.
Never tried this, but I'd suggest going for the Oculus Quest, the controllers are so much better and the tracking is phenomenal! If you want to tread in to the VR world definitely go for the quest, and if you want to try it out, get a phone holder. :)
Great device to start you off in VR, great price too. I bought at this price a year ago and then when i upgraded I sold on eBay for the same price using the eBay £1 deal, so they certainly hold their value if you wanted to see what it is all about.
Very good price
Keepa chrome extension
Where do you get these chart stats from?
You guys reckon this is worth it? Not as much heat as I would of assumed?
This is a fake prime day deal. Freezing Cold sorry.
Some other games require move controllers, it will say on the game box. But there's plenty of content out there that you can use with the regular gamepad.
Nope. All included games can be played with the normal controller
Do you need the ‘move controllers’ to use this and the games included?
Combine this with £10 audible credit and £8 top up credit. £191. I'll bite
Shame nobody has got close to that GAME bundle from a few weeks back that was a similar price with 3 more games.
Physical, yes. No replay value.
That says "physical" to me but it strikes me as one that I'd want to show to friends... I'll sit on it a bit longer - I've got a pile of utter disgrace to get through (cheeky)
ooooo, you're so 1337.
Nice... I am, I get phone calls often, they ask me to confirm my address and mobile even though they phone me so now i just say it very fast
I was one of the lucky ones and got my AO order within 2 days keep holding out for it well worth the £15
Classic Buzz comment (y) :D XD
Same! Just bought this to go fully immersive! Can’t wait
I think this is probably my biggest issue with VR. It seems to require a lot more mental energy than simply sitting back and playing a game non VR. After an hour I'm normally comatose. Saying that, Dirt didn't make me feel sick at all. Even rolling off mountain sides was a lot more fun than it sounds!
Sorry to hear that, Jim. The only one that got me was Scavengers Odyssey on day 1 of release. I too haven't gone near that again. Once bitten twice shy and all that.
General health is true. I can't go near vr if feeling run down/hungover etc. I need to be feeling tip top before I go in.
I picked this up a while ago for $50 from Australia and it’s not great. The tracking is awful and the gameplay limited. I’d wait until it’s a lot cheaper before considering IMO.
Give this a big swerve it's not worth £10. Lots on sale on Ebay...anyone interested can have mine for £40!
cheers @NeoTrix nice one! (angel)
Still expensive for some plastic you put a phone in.
64GB back instock. Currys online. https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertainment/gaming/virtual-reality/oculus-quest-vr-gaming-headset-64-gb-10193128-pdt.html?awc=1599_1562578272_d6477cdf2c5d03d24976d99162d55db6&srcid=369&xtor=AL-1&cmpid=aff~Stock%20Informer~Comparison%20Engine~38503~Megit+Limited
Funny you mention that as I returned mine for the same reason but I'm thinking about buying another as I the device itself is fantastic and I actually miss having it! I still reckon for £400 it's good value for money and worth owning despite the comfort issues.
Urgh if only they had the 64gb as I have a £50 off a £100 voucher, and there’s nothing else I want to spend over £100 on.
HEADS UP: Oculus Quest (128GB) version in stock and 1 day delivery terms on Very.co.uk website - it shows a popup too saying 34 have been ordered in the last 48 hrs! Just ordered one - spread the cost options available too- they do 12 months buy now pay later (and 9 months) or 3 payments if you use very or PayPal credit payment possible too.
That's pretty much the issue, for most people that's exactly how they will use it. It's certainly easy, but if you're not a hard core VR user and lucky enough to be pretty resilient to latency and frame drops then you aren't going to have a fun time. Which is my point, it's not something you should buy a quest for. It's not like I'm saying anything new. Streamings not at a point it will work for everyone and you shouldn't buy it for that. There will be wireless headsets, but we aren't really there yet, and it's so technically difficult we will never get to frame rates and latency like on the index. And honestly the improvement on the index is worth a cable.
It was out of production until recently.
Wasn't it this price with Farpoint a year ago... has it been going up in price for some reason?
Firewall Zero Hour
Got it cheers ! ;)
Your thinking of the Oculus Quest.
Update... Dropped further. £332
Updated as price has dropped further!!!! £339 now!
Never heard of quest. Something for me to YouTube. Thanks mate (y) (y)
Until then there's still the option of oculus quest. Great graphics for inbuilt into headset vr and pick up and play. I have both and use the quest alot for ease of use and ability to take round friends etc (always a good party pleaser) I use oculus rift when diving into the first person shooters that haven't yet been ported to quest (though they have been confirmed to be on their way) or when my wife's playing on the quest.
Just the ps camera (and obviously a PS4), but certain games you will need the ps move controllers
What else would i need to purchase to get it up and running?
Mine was V2 , from the last few times this offer was posted I think it’s pot luck but you’re more likely to get a V2
Mine came without the camera , but looked brand new and was v2. You can get the cameras for £25 at cex
Shouldn't need to - when i ordered one in March it was a V2 and came with a camera. (although didn't come in any Sony packaging). I would have kept it but smelt awful (weed and cigarettes) so it went back.
Damn, thanks thought it may have been somewhere else as I doubt we'll see a 15% off eBay for a while now.
About 3 week ago when eBay had the 15% code taking £60 off. I went with the quest but the rift had the same discount.
Not being a dick here but when/where was the new Rift cheaper? Genuinely curious as would like to know where to look out for this.
Cutting it fine. Still not the cheapest it’s been though.
purchased. my first vr headset overall im impressed, i recommend Robo Recall and Sairento VR
Apparently the HTC Cosmos will allow you to tether it to your PC or phone. It's due to come out in Q3 this year.
You can do it with the Quest, just not officially sadly.
Its a shame they can’t do one where you can connect to pc for better graphics and Steam library and then detach for wire free gaming. Cant decide on this or the Standard rift. I would like Steam games as cheaper however limited on room where PC is. Quest seems intresting for the 18+ Stuff 🤭
Ps4 normal and pro both play VR fine IMO (y)
Thanks for all of your advise copperspock, I'll give it deep consideration. Happy gaming (highfive)
I forgot to say: a lot of people who initially feel a bit weird will get their VR legs after a few short sessions with it to acclimatise. I've never felt any VR sickness so maybe you'll be as lucky :).
Fingers crossed! (lipstick) (strong)
Haha I had to do the same. She was surprisingly cool about it and actually loves it.
Cheers, I will start a list of games then try and persuade the other half!
Bit pricey for a gimmick with not much to play and crappy graphics
Good deal, although it's probably still a better to buy the Mega Pack from Smyth's toys for £209 and get Blood and Fury thrown in free
I know it doesn't matter. I'm not saying it was you, but if it was, then that would be very petty. Indeed people can decide for themselves, and they can make better decisions with the correct info.
A thread gets downvoted, you lose your magic Internet points, it doesn't matter. What matters is someone can see two sides of the coin, we're all adults, and we can decide for ourselves.
I think there are more than enough quality games on the system to consider it worthwhile, yes. I also think potential buyers shouldn't be misled. I notice that an old PS VR deal of mine was downvoted the same minute you left that comment.
No it isn't.
Cheaper than a Nintendo Switch...
Don't forget the extra ebay £5 quid off in addition (y) I picked one up as part of the alt Frankenquest mod for the Oculus Quest, worth a shot at this price.
Any ideas if this comes with a touchpad?
Good price for new. There are loads of these around 2nd hand now as they only work on a limited number of fairly old phones.
Damn, i wish I'd seen this last month.
Yes, I think it's call "mure" - if you have areas of no or little change in contrast they appear to be "dirty" - you see it straight away if you look at the sky surrounding the cliff house. But then i found that once you get using the headset in an app it becomes a "non issue". I was also concerned about the black levels until I tried the headset - that's another non issue for me - I think they have got to the stage now where LCD technology has overcome the limitations of the original LCD headsets. Agree - I think it's the most comfortable headset I have experienced and reminds me of the Rift DK2 (which was my first ever 'serious" VR headset).
I sent my back on Wednesday, far too many issues. Fine SDE makes the screen look dirty, you can see the bottom of the panel, panels randomly dim, cable is super thick and heavy. Resolution was very impressive, but the trade off as with all LCD is colour vibrancy, although the best LCD panel i've seen it does not compare to a Samsung OLED. It's also a very comfortable headset. Lots of other people have experienced similar problems on Reddit.
Yes, but it is the closest to a "real life" experience that you can get. https://gadgeteer.home.blog/
wont let me purchase megapack with controllers. But every other deal it will????
JUNE20 code expired :( but other code worked... NWMQY
£246.98 (party) (party) (popcorn) Thanks OP. Super Deal.
Got my set with the controllers today. I’ve been very skeptical about VR. I was wrong. It’s bloody awesome. The ocean descent blew my mind. It was like being in the sea. The shark looked so real. When you look down you really feel the depth. VR playroom is so much fun. So glad i bought one. :D
