As the was closed and msccruises would not answer phone. I got in touch with the IGLU cruise and talked to Alex on ext 6575. To cut a long story short, he finally managed to match the price for £600 per person ( £1 more than THG) and booked me a holiday. I did ask him if he is happy to have others call him to match the price for them. Personally, I know Iglu but never have dealt with THG .
    IgLu number is 02038483600
Guy extension Alex is 6757. It will take around 20 minutes to fully book with them as they do all pre departure details, etc, with you over the phone. And if you have MSC voyager number, have it handy as it will speed up things (edited)

Wouldn't it be much cheaper to get people to book it all themselves online? Not booked recently but booked lots of brilliant value cruises online without the faff of having to contact a random middleman.

Just got back off this ship. Exactly same itinerary. The places were fine but... I highly advise against it. Dirty glasses. Understaffed crew to 6000 guests. Sugar water drinks. The TVs for all guests haven't worked all week. Queues. Queues and more queues. You'll be waiting to be served more than anything else. No seating anywhere to be found. Nowhere to relax. And TONS of horrible rude English tourists and way too many kids. (I'm also English and the ones on this were the worst kind.) I promise you... You'll be disappointed. Fobbed off and if you have a food allergy good luck being catered for. You'll most likely be eating at the buffet with the hoardes of screaming children. If you don't like smoke or smoke filled rooms. Good luck because people will vape and smoke cigs on board (mostly the casino and sky lounge) and this is completely accepted and encouraged by MSC. You'll pay for literally EVERYTHING on MSc as they pack you in cheap and high and then make you pay for everything on board to make up the money you didn't spend initially... (edited)

You've clearly went over a school holiday time. Go out of school term time and its a completely different experience.

The main dining room serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. No need to go to the buffet and far nicer to have your food brought to you in a civilised way, rather than have to go find it.

Most cruise lines allow smoking in the Casino - though i think MSC are now phasing that out (thank goodness).

Buying a package up front saves money. You can get the Premium Plus drinks package for £29 a day if taken at the time of booking.

Same with speciality restaurants - all of which are very worth doing.

Those with 'cruise experience' - do you find 'full board' reasonable? I've always been told 'if cruising, all inclusive'. What's the typical food/drinks costs on cruises? (edited)
    svm4m4nwcw's avatar
full board is all inclusive apart from drinks, unless you want keep drinking every night you good with full board. each stop you can get few bottles from docks never been issue. even take them on top deck only places you can’t bring your own is bars and restaurants
  4. rossmcgowan123's avatar
What's the drink prices like on cruises? They're always full board
    TinBlack's avatar
London pub prices £7-8 a pint or wine £10-12 cocktail £14 champagne glass

But premium drinks package (all drinks up to £14 without restrictions) is £35pppd if booked at the time of booking which is absurdly good value if you like that sort of thing (by which I mean drinking). 2 coffees, two soft drinks, 2 beers and a cocktail and you’re already ahead (edited)

Great price, but I was very disappointed with the entertainment on this ship during a Fjords cruise last year.
    shug119's avatar
I was on it, though entertainment was very good.

Msc got to be my worst cruise so far, done fair share of them but msc has me question ever to go on . Barely anyone spoke English, staff was slow to serve people and food was meh, if you compare to NCL, virgin , carnival or royal carr even tui marella
    ForzaGTC's avatar
I agree, bar staff so slow, no queuing system, people queue jumping constantly. Food was meh to say the least, some days it was bloody awful. The ship itself is fantastic.

Good deal BUT msc cruises just keep falling and falling. I feel like this has more room to fall they just can't sell all the rooms.
    peakbear's avatar
That is from the piccie it looks like a boat that will fit about 10000 passengers on. OK seriously, just checked and it is a mere 6334 passengers that fit on it ;-)

I loved the ship. Very impressive.

Just got back from a very similar cruise with P&O on the Ventura, cost slightly more at £783 for 13 nights but it was so good to get some sunshine after our wet winter.

This ship has some dreadful reviews literally, was tempted but glad I didn't take the plunge now!. Just look at the TripAdvisor reviews below.

All the recent reviews are 1 or 2 stars, avoid.

"MSC Virtuosa is a beautiful ship but unfortunately a year down the line it has turned
into a 2 to 3 star booze cruise. The food and presentation of it is so bad and i witnessed staff handling food without gloves. My husband and I were very sick for
seven of our eleven days and we reported this to customer services but heard nothing. I have never had to review a cruise in a negative way before because the
food has always been 5 star. It appears to me that MSC just want the money without
anything in return as the ship is geared up to spending i.e. for Adults and more importantly children. One thing I couldn't believe was there selection of cereal
which was 3 or 4 very cheap options. Also things I have never seen on any cruise
i have been on was people smoking on loungers instead of going to the designated
areas this would never happen on any other cruise. We have cruised many times
are very ordinary people who have always been delighted with the service and menu
selection but not this time. I would seriously say to people if you are thinking of cruising please don't go on MSC Virtuosa even if you get a good deal. Look at
    P. & O. Princess Royal Carribean in fact you would be safer with anyone. I have one positive in all the negativity the entertainment was excellent a lot of effort when into
that side of the cruise and the girl who looked after our cabin was lovely."

I think MSC ran a few 2 nighters over the last month or two (and i think over easter) which definitely become booze cruises.

We have been on Virtuosa and loved it. I think the trick is definitely to not go during school holiday periods and to go on a 7 nighter. That attracts more experienced cruisers who dont try to everything everywhere all at once. Also the ships dont run at anywhere near capacity when its not high season.

Also i really dont get why people insist on going to the buffet, particularly at peak times. They are always bedlam. The main dining room is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and is a far more civilised affair.

Also theres a couple of bars on board that people seem to swarm to, whereas other bars sit almost empty. We just go to the quieter bars.

We're on Virtuosas sister ship next Sunday for a week around Norway from Copenhagen. That'll be our third MSC cruise, and we've another 3 booked too.

So in theory could you just book this and turn up on your own as a solo traveler?
As sometimes these deals are better than dedicated solo traveler deals!
