Was active yesterday and worked in conjunction with the bigthanks £10 voucher so effectively £20 off £50 spend.

However, all the kids items that I wanted was a little overpriced so used the bigthanks discount on something else.

This seems to be the same deal that was posted around Christmas except, as to be expected, stock levels are much lower.
It may be the design philosophy of Vans but I don't understand why they made all the Nintendo designs so obnoxious and garish. There are way too many colours and shapes going on in most of them and it makes them really ugly. There are plenty of adult Nintendo nerds with money, which I presume these were aimed at because of the retro designs, who would buy official footwear and accessories if they were half decent and I think Vans really missed with these ranges. The two Converse designs pictured above are so much better.

Agree with you entirely. I also dislike some of the large "VANS" branding you get on the clothing. Is supposed to be about Nintendo, or Mario or whatever character. I have bought one or two of the better VANS shoes, wife has nice enough Peach ones and kid the Mario Hi-Tops. The official Nintendo bags via Nintendo UK store or Rewards Club have been higher quality and classier also (i.e. Mario NES 8bit backpack, NES console backpack, Yoshi Egg shape backpack).

No shoes for men at all. :( I was told at a Schuh store last September that they were going to restock all the Nintendo shoes, but that never materialised.
Isn't Schuh a completely different company? Or are they the same? I had understood that Schuh lost the Nintendo shoe/bag licensing, and it was given to VANS instead.

Schuh sell vans and other brands, they had the Nintendo Vans in stock at one point.

Ah right, now I think about it Converse had the license before didn't they, and they made some great stuff, Schuh sold the Converse Nintendo shoes in the past. I managed to get hold of the classic 8-bit NES Mario 1 blue hi-tops they did in my kids size in about another 2 years time when his feet have grown into them. They are pretty neat, I wouldn't have been embarrassed in the slightest to have worn them myself if my size had been available when I discovered them.

https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/b8/51/8e/b8518e1445cca099ee470f2cda618b67.jpg

There were various other styles available and they were all pretty good. Have one or two Vans Nintendo shoes and prefer the Converse to be honest.

The hotel is actually situated in Bucerias, not downtown Puerto Vallarta. Very safe area amd no problems leaving the hotel at night. Going again soon and will be my 7th time without seeing any trouble whatsoever. I would have no problem recommending this hotel or area to anyone.

Edited By: 0011728 on Jan 20, 2017 16:40
A good price but having been to the area shortly after the local drug barons decided to petrol bomb garages and a bank below a hotel I'd try to check the safety situation before taking children there. It isnt easy to do that - people were claiming on tripadvisor, for example, that there had been little damage when there was a photo of the burnt out bank if you searched on google.

Rio Park is a half decent hotel for a couple of reasons. Firstly the entertainment is great, and the animation team, kids clubs etc are also good (kids club is free, unlike some hotels which charge). Our kids loved it. Although I am not sure if this is all year round. Secondly, it's pool bar sells cheap beer and snacks which are about as cheap as you would get from the cheapest bars outside the hotel, so there is no need to leave if all you want is a cheap beer or cheap pizza/fries/chicken.

Bad points, the inclusive food is not the best and gets a bit boring and same after 4 or 5 days. The rooms are a bit tired and in need of decoration. The free wifi is painfully slow, and the paid for wifi is not much better. It is about a 10-15 minute walk from the beach. The pool was coldish in August, so it will be freezing his time of year even without the snow.

We went in 2014 and enjoyed it so much we went back the next year, and like the TV show, we met quite a few families from the previous year, but twice was definitely enough!

On holiday in Benidorm at the moment. Weather terrible thunder and lightning all last night it was like living in a battle of cannons. Constant wind and rain and set to continue until at least next week and possibly beyond.

yeah I was driving down to Alicante airport last night and there was some lovely lightning. I got out just in time as my town had nearly a foot of snow in places.
Thanks OP, booked for a week
How long do you spend in your hotel? Guess this is full board but for me it's usually just a bed.

Great price but officially 2 * hotel :(
Wow, must be a great hotel to get 4* Trip Advisor reviews, not even some 4 star hotels get that. I trust the people.
You have to bear in mind though that people are giving four stars based on the fact that it is a 2 star....so probably just better than they expected a 2 star to be! Meaning a very good 2* hotel. Not the equivalent of a 4 star :)

Do people really stop working solely to look after grandchildren? Or is it just people that have chosen not to work anyway?. Seems like it's aimed at irresponsible people who choose to have a family before they are in a suitable financial position.
There are many such people as you describe Nitro (enouraged by the benefits system too) - however, for some people who choose to continue to earn to support their families, grandparents in loco parentis is a far more acceptable option than paying strangers to bring up their children

How about this novel idea of staying at home and looking after your own children.
Or how about going back to work and supporting your family and allowing your support network to look after the kids?
You did not think that answer through did you? Must try harder.
As a family unit we support each other...my daughter works part time now and studies for her chemistry degree and I work nights and childmind my granddaughter during the day.Old fashioned probably but very rewarding!

I'm a Dad and I went back to work after just two weeks off, does that mean my parents can claim this, they both work?
If your parents are both working, they won't need this National Insurance Credit, unless they are earning less than the wage at which NI contribution is required

Good idea, it's awful when people get pets they aren't prepared to look after properly :(

i honestly wish someone would just put him down. surely some kind of argument can be made along the lines of not wanting to prolong suffering, etc.

On a more topical note, these are pretty good as I went to a few with my daughter last time they were on. Unfortunately they were poorly advertised per store and although it was booked online, the store had no idea what I was talking about when I turned up.. luckily a manager did the exact right thing and stopped what they were doing to give an on the spot completely un-rushed talk with animal cuddles included :) just an FYI.

That's what it appears. The £3.99 labelled PC Download code gets you the PS4 code

£2.99 is the pc version. Upon further reading, uplay is simply software you install on your pc and download the game via that

"Redeeming online codes with Uplay: To activate a game on Uplay, you must first install the Uplay client and create a Uplay account. This process is completely free of charge. The game is then linked to your account and available to be downloaded and installed."

The joie is what I actually purchased just couldn't find the link on the site as I was rushing. Really pleased with the quality for such a good price
The joie one is also £25 they have a good reputation on crash test safety. its listed in the kids section of deals. joie high back booster

... Law now requires a high backed seat and so the old backless ones are now illegal, and carry an on the spot fine in caught using one.
The law which was due to change in December 2016, did not come into force. It is now anticipated it may do during March 2017
So the current law still is:
Children weighing more than 15kg can travel in backless booster seats. (assuming their head would be above the seat back if it were in place and adjusted to the highest position)
When/if the law does change it will say:
Backless booster seats will only be allowed to be used for children who are taller than 125cm and who weigh more than 22kg
As already mentioned, if the changes go ahead, they will only apply to newly sold booster cushions, not ones which are already in use and meet existing safety standards.
while this is true, I think for the sake of £25 to have a safer seat for your child (that meets the new requirements which you must assume has been found to be safer) is that not worth it?
I don't understand why you are making the point that they are probably safer in response to a post clarifying misinformation. It seems like an entirely separate point unless you are suggestion that people should keep claiming that it is illegal?

I think the poster is just pointing out that while it isn't illegal there is a reason the law is changing. It is because the new rules will keep kids safer on the roads as the seats are more appropriate for their height and weight.
The booster is only £25 though you may already have a backless one you can use, £25 is good value for a safer seat

Cuddly is the Gruffalo's Child, not the Gruffalo, might be worth updating the title.

Picked this up just before Christmas for a tenner or so, nice quality. The stick man like thing in it's hand is velcro'd on.

thanks, updated

thoroughly recommended! loved this !
Last time I went I saw a launch.

For those saying this is dull are mongs. You're talking about science and space travel, stuff that is real, not the crap you get in the theme parks.

Went there in 2003. I loved it but my wife of one week fell asleep in the IMAX cinema. FELL ASLEEP!
Going back to Florida this year and having a tough time getting her to go. Hopefully I can just drop her off at a mall on the way.

I'm doing that with my missus, she enjoyed it last time but I'm happy to drop her off shopping and I'll have a boys days out

Some great bits:

Watching a morning launch of a military satellite from the beach and having a helicopter and snipers (who we were told are happy to open fire!!!) within spitting distance.
Being filmed on said beach for an episode on the Graham Norton Show (YMMV).
The shuttle.
Getting to talk to a lovely lady who actually stitched the heat shielding and could point out the ones she had personally done.
QA with a real astronaut (Barbara).
Photo with Barbara.
Book signing with Barbara for my daughter, very inspirational!
Watching a Mars rover uni competition! Some of that was unintentionally hilarious...
Going to an observation tower to see the launch pads.
Realising that the assembly building had its own micro-climate with the potential for its own rain inside on a sunny day!
Lots more!

Bad bits:

Heat as very little shade.
That very lane 'launch simulator'.
