Actually on the ship at the moment can't really fault anything, service and staff are all excellent.

Same here! The food is bland and service has gone down the hill, compare to my 3 other occurrences on this ship.

On Virtuosa next weekend. That'll be our second time on her.

    Beautiful ship.

Where does MSC sit compared with other cruise companies?
    abigsmurf's avatar
Consistently at or just off the bottom. However they're also generally the cheapest cruise line.

If you're looking for a quiet relaxing cruise with luxury food every meal, this probably isn't the best option

Are drinks also inc. In the "all inc" deal or just the meal, anyone?
    :/ 🤷‍♂️✌

Yes, it includes the Premium drinks package

    Thanks,

they they have jumped quite a bit probably happier with the numbers booking cruises after the couple of super cheap winters and want to encourage packages.

How much was the 1ltr stein and if they still have them the 2l and 3l dispensers?

With a drinks package at £30pppd with £7.50pt that's 4beers or 8 if the OH does not drink, less any you convert into water or coffee.

Just a note, does this include travelling through the bay of biscay? It can be unpredictable

I'm not sure it's avoidable tbh? We've been to Bilbao twice from Portsmouth and never had any problems, booked again for next month.

Was on this ship last July. It was full to the throat with guests. As peak time obviously full with kids too. Bar queues were at least 20-30 mins wait to be served with people queue jumping all the time. Food was dull and pretty poor in my opinion, the options never really changed in the 14 days we were on it. I personally wouldn't go with MSC again because of the above.
The ship itself is great and balcony cabin was excellent.

We went with Royal Caribbean (MSC is the same group) last year around Asia, and I agree, it wasn't the finest cruise I've ever had. We even had people in Speedos, T-Shirts and Flip Flops in the restaurants (not the Buffett) at night. But a week on a boat for this price is a week away from work. It's also a good price for someone that might want to decide wether a cruise is for them.

Personally I prefer P&O and Cunard though, but you pay for what you get and all that.

We’ve just returned from an MSC cruise. No complaints apart from the bars… we don’t drink alcohol but even buying a cola meant a long queue. I’d have been irritated if I’d bought a drinks package. Perhaps it’s a ploy to reduce the amount people can drink?
    wellhellothere's avatar
On the ship at the moment, they've opened lots of pop up bars serving Heineken, wine, fizz and canned drinks, so that's really helped

Damn that's expensive, I did the 15 day one for £600 on the same ship, they charge you extra for everything and anything.
    A_BHot's avatar
Yes, you’re charged for drinks if you haven’t bought a drinks package, but your food is always included. The only other things you pay for are excursions, WiFi and room type - like would be expected in any other industry (or going to Butlin’s)!

One thing that may be minor to some, but was huge to me, MSC ships as far as I'm aware don't have Laundry rooms (I turned up to my last cruise with a suitcase full of crinkled gear, thinking I'd do what I've always done and just iron it in the Laundry room), I ended up with 2 weeks worth of crinkled stuff. Iron and roll /fold before you go
    getmore4less's avatar
Most cruise lines don't have self service laundry.

Sounds like a rooky/P&O cruiser error

Tried to book it but website kept crashing.Went on Live chat, agent booked it through cruise.co.uk (sister company). They had a better deal £664 pp with the drinks package.

Did you have a voyeger discount? (edited)

To check if a cruise is voyager eligible price up on MSC.

We on this ship a couple of weeks ago, we would definitely go again, it was a booze cruise and the bar que’s on the first day were long( 20-25 min), food was ok cabin was very similar to other ships we have been on, we have previously been on Princess, Celebrity & Royal Caribbean

This is a nice route I thought they only do Norway or Northern Europe
    getmore4less's avatar
The longer trips go to the Med and Canaries.

I watched a YouTube video about this ship and MSC in general. Seems like everything was extra cost, even very limited where you can go on the ship without paying extra for different classes.
    getmore4less's avatar
Only a small area at the front of the ship is allocated to the Yacht club.

If you exclude the cabins in the area it's a tiny space.

The rest of the ship is open to everyone.

With planning and buying what you need/want in advance you can sail MSC with no on board spending.

For most the drinks package and potentially a speciality meal package is all they need.

Add a spa pass and a fun pack job done.

As said we had total on board spending £260 as we PAYG for drinks on that one.

Cruise was £350pp total spend under £500pp for 7n.

    Drinks package.

You will get the not worth and don't go without one extreems.

Do you own research for your habits.

Drinks prices on MSC ships do vary depending where they are sailing and currency.

UK get the premium AI which covers just about everything from bottled water to champagne.

Even when off the ship in port a lot in it can still be worth it.

There is no fixed price for the add-on when booking it varies on a per cruise basis and some TAs discount a bit off the MSC cost.

Our last MSC cruise it was £30pppd(7n £420), we spent £260 over the 7n as OH is not a big drinker and I can be happy with just beers a good choice on draft in Masters the "pub"

1ltr/2pt jug is the best value draft option.
not seen the new £ prices on Virtuosa it was around €15 on our euro based cruise.

Some cruises the package is under £30pppd and if both like a drink easy to cover it.

We do take it on some trips with MSC.

Always cheaper in advance at time of booking so work out before booking if going to take it.

    If concerned about weather.
get the windy app, set to waves and watch areas you are interested in for a few weeks.

There are some vlogs appearing on YouTube from the 2n booze cruise.

Totally ignorant on cruises. Could somebody advise me on costs for getting off at the ports etc. if possible please? i.e. Arranged tours, transport costs, fees or easy enough to go off by yourself, cheers
    Thetrout's avatar
Every Cruise I've been on you can get off and wander around at any Port they stop off at. But sometimetimes the ports are miles away from the names they are called (I.E Bangcok was 80 Miles away from the actual City)

There is no way of doing it, as each cruise excursion prices depends on the money rates at the time, each country is dynamic depending on governments, stability, local fuel costs etc.

You tend to get trips advertised by the cruise people about 2 months before you travel. If you book through them you're guaranteed back on the boat before sailing. Outside companies at each port will do the same trips for far less, but if you don't make it back and the boats sailed, you'll pay far more to catch the boat up. (edited)

I did this cruise last year. The bars were very crowded and sometimes service was slow, but the pop up bars were very convenient. The buffet food was excellent, with plenty of tables at the rear. The entertainment was very good and the overall experience compared well with P&O and Marella.
