Not sure you'll see much of the Norwegian Fjords for your money on this cruise.
Just 3 days spent in different Norwegian ports.
Most of the stunning scenery will pass you by while you dine or sleep.
The other 3 days are spent at sea travelling from Southampton to Norway & back via the North Sea.

I saw more of the Norwegian Fjords on a daytime catamaran ferry from Bergen to Flam as part of a circular route via the Flam Railway to Myrdal and back to Bergen by train. Cheap and cheerful, but far more memorable.
I even saw a monster of a cruise ship moored up at Flam. The tiny port is a total tourist trap, and was completely overwhelmed with a ship load of passengers all wandering around not knowing what to do with their day. Spend money on souvenirs & tat for an hour, and back to the ship for drinks.

If you want to see stunning Norway, this isn't the way to do it.
Good price for a cruise though.

What are you on about I did it last year, Ok I was on the premium drinks package so going back to see what I missed, but I was up at 4am one morning to watch us cruise up the Fjords, and what do you see? Loads of big mountains, loads of waterfalls, the odd house say a mile from the next maybe more, but then that's what it is, be ready for trundling along for miles and miles of mountains, hills and waterfalls, in fact I don't think I got up at 4am, I think I just went out onto the deck from the nightclub but you get what I mean, and YES I would have been that big cruise ship in Flam, amazing parking skills as its a dead end!

I had my buddy with me, she's no problem at all and doesn't answer back!

Comes out at £699pp for 2 in an inside cabin with FANTASTICA benefits (free breakfast in bed every day, 700 MSC voyager points instead of 500 AND choose your cabin location) with Premium drinks, NOTE: buying premium drinks on board will cost you €87 PER DAY!

Solo in a Bella (no benefits and cabin allocated) with premium drinks £969, £999 with Fantastica as above.

This is a GREAT price for a Norway cruise but on top of that you get to visit the Shetlands!

    I booked yesterday!

Buying the drinks package at the time of booking is around say £230 (Premium drinks package), if you don’t take that offer, the next opportunity will be offered on the MSC App you download after paying at around £360 (these are just examples) l, BUT if you wait until you are on the ship then drop your trousers and be prepared to be spanked because THIS is what you will then pay! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

DON’T DILLY DALLY IF YOU THINK YOU MAY WANT DRINKS GET THEM INNTHE INITIAL PRICE! It’s so nice to be able to stop in at any of the 21 bars for a tea, selection of coffees, fresh orange juice, bottle of water, beer, top level spirits or champagne on an unlimited bases without checking your bill every 3 hrs or so worried your spending too much, it makes the cruise a relaxing cruise not a mental torture game. Even if a non drinker you get more than your value from non alcoholic cocktails and other drinks and all worry free!

Some menus from a Virtuosa a ago so probably a bit more now, may help some decide if to go for a drinks package, remember you will have around 16hrs a day roaming around and great to drop in at any of the 21 Venus without a care and order what you want (up to your $16 max per drink).

Never been on a cruise and can't seem to find much on their FAQ. Can someone please help answer a few questions? When it says "all meals included", how many meals per day is this? And if you're not a drinker, and would only want teas/coffees, would you still require the drinks package? Also, when the ship docks, does it just stay there the entire time and people are allowed to get off and on as they please? Or must everyone get off? Cheers🥂 (edited)

Meals - Includes breakfast, lunch and dinner in a dedicated dining room with waiter service OR BUFFET open 17hrs or so a day with snacks/pizza until 2am OR you can dine Ina selection of what they call speciality restaurants for an extra fee, around £35 per person but fresh meals and you can buy bundles of these restaurants at a discount. FREE tea and coffee plus tap water and squash available at meal times and when the buffet is open.  You will NEVER go hungry.

Drinks package - this allows you to go in any of the 21 or so bar venues coffee shops on the ship and drink whatever your package allows for free and unlimited, see my post explaining what each package is and costs of drinks. You can also have teas coffees and non alcoholic drinks. I must say it’s so nice to have a package and enjoy the whole experience of dropping in and out of venues without concern of what expenses you could be running up, rather than skimp going backwards and forwards to the buffet to fill a water bottle but then if that is up to the individual but you certainly don’t have the experience no matter what is said.

When docked - when docked it’s your choice, stay and enjoy the quietness and all facilities or you can get on and off the ship when we you want by having your cruise card scanned, you get  this credit card sized ID card when you board and it opens your cabin door and is used for purchases, cash is not used aboard. WHEN YOU LEAVE THE SHIP IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO BE BACK AT THE DESIGNATED TIME OR YOU WILL BE LEFT BEHIND, THE SHIP WILL NOT WAIT. If you are on a ship’s excursion and it is late that is the only exception, if on your own your left!

    Hope that helps. (edited)

Does anyone know what the drinks prices like on MSC? I wouldn't get value out of the drinks package unless they are extortionately expensive.

I had heard horror stories of £50 bottles of basic wine and £15 pints but I looked into the P&O Norwegian cruise that was posted recently and was surprised to find that drinks on board are very reasonably priced - around the same as UK pub prices. So unless you are drinking a vast amount (more than 8 pints a day of beer for example) the packages aren't worth it.
    TinBlack's avatar
If you add drinks at the time of booking it’s much cheaper and the equivalent cost of 2 coffees, 2 juice/smoothies, a beer and a cocktail which most will certainly exceed. Beer is £6-7, soft drinks £3, mocktails £6-7, cocktails £9-12, wine/Prosecco £7-10 champagne £14

Inside BELLA (IB) still available still available with drinks £666 PLUS I believe with a code you get £25 off per booking on Seascanner here with the OP's code above, I fond it almost impossible that anyone gets it for less than this for 2 in a cabin.

That’s because the cruise ship books it all. If you go to the booking office, a 4 min walk, as soon as the ship docks, you will be able to buy tickets as the spares are released. Just make sure your train is going to be back in Flam before the ship sails.

I booked this but now wondering whether I should have gone direct to MSC and price matched. As an MSc voyager I think you get 5% off the price on top of the promo? Is that correct? If so I have overpaid
    wellhellothere's avatar
Also booked it this morning, did price it MSC and I would have been more money, we've paid £1307 with the drinks package, was on the MSC Euribia 4 weeks ago, enjoyed it so much booked this up, drinks section was fantastic.

It's not good timing at all - outside school holidays. I really wanted to do this cruise. Great price adding 2 kids for £1145, but can't take them out of school again!

I only went to Norway last year as I got back to Southampton on a cruise from the Canary Islands and there was a train strike, it was the first time I hadn't driven down from London, anyway I just asked reception on the ship where they were going next and they said Norway, I asked if they had a cabin and they said yes, I paid and stayed aboard, the cabin was only 2 doors up from my existing one, great! Anyway I had to wait for the cabin to be ready and they changed my cruise card but as I had my case thought I would take it and leave it in there, I went there scanned my card and walked in, there were two people having sex on the bed They looked up a little surprised as I stepped back out, I then realised I had gone back in my old cabin by mistake it seems they hadn't quite shut the door properly in their haste to get in, anyway I got in the right cabin and must say I never saw them again so no idea if they were coming or going or should even have been in there, maybe it was seamen or women! Was there an upside down pineapple on the door? Maybe they meant to leave it unlocked.

Adding my voyager number doesn't seem to add the usual 5% discount. Anyone else finding this issue? I have messaged Seascanner before, and they mentioned that after booking, any discounts (if applicable) would be added after booking and getting in contact with them. Obviously, still a good deal but made even sweeter with extra discount!

Think it's because it's a flash sale last minute price. We've just booked with Cruise.co.uk for £635 including premium drinks package . Been on MSC website and this cruise is no longer available (11/05 sailing is) , wonder if they've given all available cabins to travel agents to sell. (edited)
  17. colinthepatterpillar's avatar
Does the Norwegian route every drop as low as the Northern Europe route (£320-360)?
    yorkie12's avatar
The sailing the week before this( 11th May) is £540 so I would think this price is about as low as it gets. You can never be certain about these things though.

Any tips if your kids are over 18. For instance 3 adults? Would that have to be 2 rooms so cheaper to take 4?

Had 300 a week deal if you go on the day and seats unsold for Fred Olsen cruise

Actually it might of been more like £150 it was years ago mind you time machine (edited)

Cruise.co.uk have now sent me the invoice from MSC and this quotes the price of £739 each (including drinks package) not £635 that we actually paid. Presume Cruise.co.uk have taken the difference from their cut.
    Gadgetdeals's avatar
I did question the price based on others I had seen but as you went budget on Bella then it could have been a possibility, I always get the best price through my agent at cruise.co.uk but booked the Fantastica IR2 level which is slightly more as although most likely the same cabin it includes Fantastica benefits of selecting your cabin, free breakfast in bed and one free change of cruise, so was hard to compare to yours.

Prices were changing, I got £699 but next day had dropped £20 but now more so it’s a lottery really as to when to buy, some you win some you lose but it’s just pennies really.

Seems the agent has messed up so happy days for you, your MSC invoice ‘should’ match that of the agents.

    yorkie12:

The MSC website classes the inside cabins on the higher decks as 'Deluxe' although ,as I've said before, most of the inside cabins are the same no matter what deck they are on.

The lower deck inside are also classified as deluxe.
IR1 and IR2 are all deluxe interior

Dont nknow why it won't display the images for me.

All Bella bookings get one of those cabins as they are the only ones available.
(unless solo then there are the studio)

Fantastica is not a cabin grade it is an "experience" in MSC speak. (edited)
    yorkie12's avatar
I know , I've been with MSC 8 times since covid and I'm well aware what the cabins are like on Virtuosa and what Bella and Fantastica experiences are. I don't know why you keep posting the same information .
  23. Sue2019's avatar
I'd have loved to do this. Not allowed to fly, so I thought ooh this I can do. Did a quote for travel insurance just for me (I do have many wonkinesses ) £3500 for 7 nights cover. Needless to say I'm staying in the uk xx
    Gadgetdeals's avatar
Your EHIC card is valid in Norway, the ship also has a fantastic hospital on board with a ward believe it or not and a number of Dr's. I don't know what your wonkinesses are and whether it is likely one wonk could cause you to be evacuated by helicopter and who is liable for that, but there will be a few of us on there who would be quite happy to meet up so you know you are not alone.

If you need to go to see a Dr as soon as you knock on the hospital door it is £100 before they talk to you but the care is amazing and not silly expensive unless you have a severe wonk explode!

    Rolo09:

Thank you. It sounds like adding the package at the time of booking is the best plan.

With MSC if offered the package is always cheaper at time of booking if you decide you want/need it.
    UK always packages premium.

It tends to be in the £30-£35pppd some cruises more some less, sometimes they adjust the cruise fare/package balance.

    Some cruises package not available.

We can manage PAYG on some MSC cruises.
Last one spends were £260 package would have been £420.

Some are happy with the €15 select drinks with meals(MDR and buffet), option only available on board.

If Virtuosa returns to £ for the Southampton season need to find the new prices once they start(Tues 23 April)

For the other extras(dining, spa, fun etc.) most are cheaper in advance.
