I've re-added it to the deal, I guess a mod removed it as it's not technically live, however I think it should be there as it's live for applications and you want to apply in advance.

Thanks, I've updated the description. I had just put for people in the West of England combined authority, but I guess that doesn't include North Somerset who are also included in the deal.

I can get a bus pass, but there is no point as we don't have any buses!

That's nice of the Government to reward their voters with a free bus pass, I noticed it's not in Liverpool, Manchester or London, I wonder why that is?

Areas you mentioned probably have enough fare paying passengers to fill up their buses.

Can't vote this hot as it is anti-February babies.

Since the pandemic, many buses are empty that's why bus companies are doing all these deals to get customers back.

Sorry, I couldn't think how to make it clear in the title without making it really long.

Don't worry, you probably have cheaper fares than us anyway.

Would have been much better if they had spent the alleged £8m budget on restoring bus services they have cut rather than on free bus rides nobody really wants. Shameful Dan Norris at WECA and others who have put this in place.

Unfortunately there were strict restrictions on what this money could be spent on, and they were not allowed to use it to restore axed routes.

I think it's a good scheme, giving people a whole month to use it will hopefully get them in the habit of using the bus.

It is a shame so many routes have been cancelled thiugh I agree. We need a lot more investment in public transport.

Residents in the West of England can apply for free bus travel throughout the whole month of their birthday under a scheme designed to radically grow passenger numbers.

To apply, residents need an address in the West of England and a digital photo. Additional ‘proof of age’ is required for under-18s.

All the main bus companies, including First and Stagecoach, have signed up to the first-of-its-kind initiative, and the region’s WESTlink bookable minibuses will also offer free travel.
