About this deal

Not a bad price at all seeing as it only came across from Xbox a few weeks ago.

Rebel against an evil tech megacorp as wannabe rockstar Chai and his ragtag crew using the power of raucus rhythm combat! From Tango Gameworks, the critically acclaimed studio that brought you The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo (no, really) and featured in 50+ "Best of 2023" lists by critics, HI-FI RUSH brings high-energy action where the characters, world and even combat stylishly sync to the music.

CHAI VERSUS THE WORLD
His heart mistakenly fused with an old music player, our hero Chai is labeled a 'defect' by a superpowered tech company and must fight his way to freedom! His moves amplified by the beat, Chai's 'defect' grants him the power to navigate dangerous environments and battle hordes of enemies by following the rhythm in his heart. Jump, strike and even laugh to the beat in a slick animated world synced to the music!

OPEN UP THE MOSH PIT
Tackle a wide range of corporate drones (like, actual robots with jobs) in satisfying, rhythm-boosted combat. Your actions automatically sync up to the music, but get into the groove and Chai can pull off devastating Beat Hits, extra-flashy combos, team-up attacks with their allies, show-stopping special moves and more! Expand Chai's skills with upgrades and turn every encounter into your own "animated music video" moment as you reach for those covetous S-Rank scores.

ROWDY REBELS VS. BADASS BOSSES

Lead Chai's squad of colorful teammates as you take the fight to the heart of an, er, heartless corporation. From Production to Marketing, face off against each department's fearsome boss, determined to stop at nothing to protect the company’s bottom line in over-the-top battle sequences featuring their own music tracks.

TURN IT UP!
Speaking of tracks, tap your toes and nod your head to a killer setlist of licensed songs from artists such as Nine Inch Nails, The Black Keys, The Prodigy and Number Girl. Playing to a crowd? Fret not: Hi-Fi RUSH also includes an alternate, streamer friendly original soundtrack featuring The Glass Pyramids, Shuichi Kobori, REO, Masatoshi Yanagi and more.

READY FOR AN ENCORE?
Completing the story is only the beginning! Replay levels to uncover secrets, climb the perilous Rhythm Tower for a new high score, crank up the speed in BPM Rush, beat challenges to earn new rewards and deck out the team with customizable cosmetics.

A hugely overrated game. Try the demo first before paying for this.

Thanks, didn't know there was a demo. Will have a look.

Just to offer a different take to some of the more negative comments here: I think this was one of the best games of 2023. A brilliant, breezy action game that feels like a PS2-era title. Worth it for this price, but I agree that you should check out the demo if you're on the fence!

I agree with you, amazing game! I even played through through it twice on release which is rare for me

This game really is excellent, a true joy to play as it feels like a proper video game.

Check out the broad reviews across the Web, both critic and user.

I dare say there are a few playstation fanboys in the comments here who wouldn't be caught dead praising a game that first came on Xbox

Just enjoy both worlds like I do! (edited)

The thing is, your comment is the first to say anything even remotely 'console war'y?
Any 'negative' comments were people who have tried it and were flagging any pros or cons of the game, especially to people who would be paying directly for it rather than getting access to it on a subscription (I'd dare to add that it wouldn't have been received nearly as well if it landed to xbox without being part of GamePass, and not nearly as many would have tried it).

Fwiw, I think my opinion on it is in the minority. Most friends of mine who have tried it have enjoyed it. I'm even hoping to give it another lash myself when the notions on me. But it's well at the bottom of the list.

Mediocre xbox game, Microsoft just paid all the outlets for positiive reviews. (edited)

Those are serious allegations to make. Do you have any evidence Microsoft paid ALL the outlets for positive reviews

It’s a bit repetitive and the time attacks are too much

There’s a setting you can change to give you a longer window on the QTE parts at least

I'm glad I got to try it on Gamepass.
It's very colourful and pretty, but the main guy in it was a bit annoying which put me off (could absolutely be up somebody elses street though).

No idea why this was being lauded so much when it released but. Maybe because it was shadow-dropped on GP?
Definitely one for a subscription for me.

Played it on Game Pass Ultimate on my PC. Awesome soundtrack and a fun game. It takes some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, it's very satisfying.
Would have bought it if I'd not already finished on PC. Maybe if it ever comes free with PS+, might give it another go.
