I bought a logik one for £10 from Curry's 8 years ago. Still running strong. Toasts nicely. No complaints. Definitely worth it.

I’ve just ordered the Logik glass kettle! Now I’m on the lookout for the matching toaster!

We've had 4 toasters in as many months !
ALL were "recommended" or "best rated" and they've all been rubbish.... I'm convinced that they are all made in the same Chinese factory from recycled tin foil.
Even our current Amazon No1 ranked is going back as the bread lifter doesn't lift anymore.
Anyone know of a decent one please ?

We got a Russel Hobbs toaster (£25, 5 years ago) 4 slice, we use it daily, still going strong.

I do empty the crumbs quite often and turn it upside down to make sure they are gone. (edited)

Well.. bought Breville set (kettle and toaster) 10.5 years ago (just before getting married), and toaster still working bob on. Outlived 2 kettles.

...and there's my point, our old toaster lasted years too - modern ones are just junk.
