I got one of their road bikes to commute on as bikes keep getting stolen in the UK these days. They're a pile of crap, but they work enough to commute, but I wouldn't buy one for leisure. However for £90 it's paid for itself in a month, so anything after that is a bonous, but it's already falling apart badly and the wheels do not stray true and the spokes are as loose as anything. The gears don't work properly either, there is so much play on the lever and it cannot be fixed... It's more like a friction indexed hybrid lol.

On the upside, no one has bothered to chop my flimsy lock off for it lol.

By the sound of it they're more likely to nab the lock and leave the bike!

Is it good bikes this cheap exist?

Yes and no, it's a mixed bag.

Yes, they can save a person with no transportation £500 a year in bus fare.

Yes, they can cheaply introduce people to the hobby / lifestyle of commuting by bike.

No, they give newcomers to the hobby the impression every bike is this poor.

No, it's terrible for the environment to keep making rubbish like this to be melted down over and over again.

No, they're a maintenance money pit, any amount of use will lead to breakage or parts failures.

I would say if you can afford better, buy better because if you enjoy riding, you'll want a better bike pretty quickly.

    Or buy second hand.

I must say the most off-putting thing about owning and riding a bike is the risk of doing so alongside 10 tonne trucks and buses where you don’t stand a chance in a collision that may not be your own fault.

where an interesting one from last year:
allocated only two stars from five
    and
suggested generally "meh" - but relative to the price:
Is it worth the sub £220, yes
implying significantly less meh at the current significantly less price.

Looks to be a Sports Direct / Mike Ashley badged bike? Can't find it anywhere except those in his group.

Why is the bike in all the Amazon reviews a different frame to the one on the listing? Which one do you get?

Unclear about what happens in Amazon - often sellers exchange items and retain feedbacks to kick-start new sales, please note the discounted price is in SportsDirect.

Has the twist grip gear change improved or is it still very hard to use. I've changed a few to normal lever types. Do would prefer not to spend more on levers

Is this bike for women? Looking at the shape of the frame?

Would it suit a 10 year old boy?

This is a big bike, I am an adult and currently using it. The frame is an aesthetic unless aiming for big/pro use, adult men or women will be able to use it. It's too big for a 10yo. (edited)
