I've got one of these with this movement, that is 35 years old and still going strong. Keeps very good time and never been serviced.

Likewise...I got my Seiko 5 for my 18th...40 years ago (I can't be that old!!}.

Mine has never been serviced either. I did think about treating it for it's fortieth but...If it ain't broke...

Great deal on a beauty of a watch. Just to note the 7s26 movement is old and doesn’t allow hacking (precise time setting) or hand winding. Should run well for years though as it’s a workhorse.

I set my son's Seiko 5 precisely like this... Pull the crown out, set the time forward a minute or two, wait for the second hand to get to 12, then apply slight pressure as if you're almost turning it back but not quite. This stops the second hand. Once the second hand reaches 12 on your phone, release, and the time will be accurate to the second. Then just push the crown back in. Works just as well as my watch that does have hacking.

You'll probably want to get a new strap for this, and if so it needs to be 18mm wide (the lug width).

This is almost identical to my first automatic, a Seiko 5, sat downstairs. A wonderful introduction to the world of automatics (that is fascinating and addictive).

Hacking (or the proxy for it as described above) is pointless, unless you're setting the time daily. Within no time (a day or so) this will be a little way off, to put it diplomatically, and within a month you'll be miles off. In no way does that detract from the appeal and charm, or reduce the value; this is not a chronometer so don't buy it if accuracy is a prime factor. If you're wearing daily without adjustment best to just use it to give you a rough approximation of the time whilst you bask in the wonder of it all being done by springs, crystals, and cogs. By that point you'll either be annoyed by the poor time keeping, satisfied with it for what it is (in which case you'll know how much time it gains (or loses), and will set it suitably far behind (or ahead) each time you calibrate, such that it's accurate at the mid point of adjustment intervals), or eyeing up something a little more solidly built and with a more refined movement. It could turn out (as it did for me) to be a fantastic experiment in what intrigues and satisfies you, and the start of a love of a lifetime. (edited)

Can you be more specific. Miles off after a month. How fast/slow was it?

You're not blind apparently, you can see if it's nice for you or not.

Don't bother trying to buy by using a normal bank card as it fails to go through despite trying 2 browsers and several attempts!!

A sheer waste of time. A bloody piss-poor joke!!!

Just tried with Google Pay---that too does not work !!! What a f-----g joke this Deal is!! Give up. Rather buy without any crap hassles like this at H Samuels on a High Street

Collection not available. Delivery not available. Is it coz I'm Welsh ???

Probably because Aberystwyth is the most remote Welsh location that one can imagine. 3 hours drive to any major city was and always will be a pain! Lovely town for studying, but never looked back!

£ for £ there’s no better watch than the Seiko 5

Not sure how you come to that conclusion lol, You can get something like a Steeldive etc for less with a better movement, higher water resistance, sapphire crystal. You are clearly seikos target audience, nothing wrong with that I guess.
