I bought this last year for ~£170.

It did an alright job of keeping me cool but it couldn't handle the entire room. Admittedly it's an attic room with an open staircase but my recently purchased Luko 16000BTU performs noticeably better (and quieter).

    7,000 btu to 16,000 btu - I'm not surprised

    It's 7000 btu.
It's not the best, but it's "fairly" light and "portable" while being thin.

It's ok to take the edge off

Silver crest will come with a 3 years warranty and they are very good at honouring their warranty. I'd think of this as a minimum 3 year investment. Good price

    Bought one yesterday.

The window kit looks a bit faffy with the velcro and the fabric with the zip across.

    Worth a buy?

If they do a deal like the one a few years ago were a similar one went for £99 it would be worth it.

I am starting to consider one of these for the inevitable few days of very hot temperatures we get each year, I will take a stroll to Lidl when on sale!

    What are we thinking 9000btu?

    Wilko deal seems better

That's only 5000BTU instead of the previously advertised 9000BTU

These "hot air comes out a plastic pipe at the back" units are never great.

Mine is brilliant and easily cools down upstairs in a few hours.

Anyone managed to find them in their local Lidl? None of my locals have them

Mine had a few on Thursday.

You really need to consider a 15000 BTU unit as a minimum

Surely it depends on room size?

You can watch your electric bill getting big in real time when you are running one of these...

What sort of money are we talking to run this overnight, say 8 hours?
    sadact06's avatar
Around 1kw an hour maybe less if not cooling constantly. 8 hours at 20p..
