Can someone please tell me where the £4000!!!!! is spent to manufacture this bicycle? Honestly find it insane!!
    bonzobanana's avatar
This is a high end mountain bike with an advanced carbon fibre frame and high end components its pointless 99% of people buying this, its only for those who need a competitive off-road mountain bike. The carbon fibre frame won't be as robust as aluminium and the high end suspension components will need frequent servicing and replacement parts. I'd have zero use for such a bike the same as most people.

or, buy a nice car instead for four grand lol
    johnnystorm's avatar
Spend four grand on car? I could buy 8 half decent TVs, or a pallet of jelly babies. None of them would get me around an XC MTB course like this bike would.

Upvoting just to see the salty comments.
  4. whatyadoin's avatar
    Bet that is lightning fast
    johnnystorm's avatar
Yep, at the last XC World Cup race in Brazil the Spesh team riding epics got 1st 2nd and 5th from over 100 starters in the Mens and 3rd & 11th from 50+ riders in the women's categories. Just checking the last F1 results to see where the £4k cars finished. (edited)

Still £3600 above it's true value
    RJA964's avatar
It's got carbon fibre parts, those ain't cheap
  6. powerbrick's avatar
Only 12 speed, what a con
    HaroFreestyler's avatar
That’s the sweet spot for this type of bike. I’d never go anything but single set now.
  7. mostly's avatar
I could buy two sets of wheels for this price, etc etc.
  8. Shure's avatar
I did post that as a comment earlier but decided to remove it as the same bike is the same price at tredz as well.
Balfes are also great to deal with and also don't charge for C2W vouchers
  9. loofer's avatar
unrelated, any discount codes on Tredz?
I need to knock £50 off a bike priced at £1550 to bring it within my £1500 C2W limit
    whatyadoin's avatar
    £25 of £250 GAY53L8DUQ
    £5 off £50 GAVGUFEMRX

just had a pop up in a minute ago

ps do you have british cycling? 7% code on there for tredz (edited)
  10. stuart.devine's avatar
If you have to ask, then you won’t understand. If you’re a xc racer, this is great bike.
Out of my price range though.
  11. Shure's avatar
Nice deal if you have access to C2W for that value aswell
    Swidc's avatar
is it not capped at 3k?
  12. FunkiestMonkey's avatar
I'd want an emtb for that money
    whatyadoin's avatar
haha just got back from italy, i hired an e-mtb, 55km 1500m day out, still had two bars of battery, adapt mode bosch was awesome, the only time i used boost, i got a top 5 on strava up an extremely steep rubbly track,
unfortunately £4k wouldn't be enough add another £9k and you've hit RRP

pivot shuttle/ full factory and XT .. lovely..
  13. slacker's avatar
Cheaper than a year of car insurance for my 17 year old...
  14. PeacePipe's avatar
It doesn't even appear to come with a bell!
    toomanylogins's avatar
it does come with pedals though :-)

Looks like a great deal - I have a lower spec Epic Evo and it is an amazing bike
  15. rsj's avatar
Wow, that's a lot of bike for the money! I was not expecting it to be full carbon
  16. KingBennis's avatar
    Bargain

"I could buy a car/motorcycle for that." etc
    Swarfega's avatar
Always makes me laugh when non-cyclists chime in with this comment.
  18. Baw_Bag's avatar
id be scared to use the bike at this price never mind the rrp. the amount of times i end up over the bars it wouldnt look good for long
  19. Kingalf's avatar
Bigger bargain if you can utilise the cycle to work scheme
    Swidc's avatar
I have a 3k limit and I thought that is the maximum any company would offer. Is there no limit on how much your employer can offer?
  20. toad679's avatar
    £4k for a mountain bike!!!
you could buy 1/4 S-Works Aethos or 2/3 of a Madone frameset or a Princeton Carbon works front wheel for that

£4k thats like smoking 20 a day for 9 months

A bargain thats what that is
  21. stewartrichardson988's avatar
I sprung for that Lapierre Pro 9 that was on here. It is so fast
  22. Wanio_123's avatar
For someone has skills bike for £1000 will be enough
  23. joebaker123's avatar
RRP: £8,000.00. Price vs Value compared to a 500£ bike
    whatyadoin's avatar
depends, a pro on a halfords special a pro would beat you on this, but give the pro this and he'll win world championships..
  24. bozkurt1881's avatar
If you take off tyres just frame left over and this frame is 4000 lol
    gummy_bear's avatar
That's what they'd do in Liverpool nick the wheels and leave the frame
  25. Rocket0712's avatar
i’d want it to tuck me in at night for that price
    craftycockney2011's avatar
If you fell off it on a nice trail you would definitely get a good night's sleep

I posted this as my husband wanted one but has his dream bike anyway but was still drooling all night about it! Thankfully the large is now out of stock, he’s still drooling though
    Shure's avatar
He'll be telling you he's shrunk a few inches since he last measured himself to fit into the medium

Great for a trip to the great city of London you will have to take an Uber or train back
  28. Pete_OnB's avatar
Love to know the manufacturers cost on this.
    craftycockney2011's avatar
Wild guess around 25-30%. Sell on to retailers with a couple of points on top. Excluding any volume or back-end bonus/subsidy for retailers.
This would explain the discounts that retailers can apply once the model run is about to change or be updated.

I'm fairly certain retailers wouldn't sell for a loss. Otherwise, it would eventually become unsustainable.

I've seen as much as 50%+ off big brands when clearance sales are on.
