Ideal Industries In-Line Push-In Wire Connectors - Pack of 100 - £8.25

Product Details

With its small size and tool-free application, the SpliceLine® from Ideal Industries is a real time-saver when it comes to connecting wires in a wide range of installations – particularly prefabricated wiring, lighting and ring main circuits.

Existing wire cut too short? Space too tight to use a crimping tool? No problem – with this inline splice connector, simply push the short wire into one end, and push the extra length of wire into the other open end. It takes less than 10 seconds to join two wires together.

• Inline splice connectors
• Joins 0.5mm² to 4.0mm² solid wires, or 1.0mm² to 2.5mm² stranded wires
• Provides a crimp-free, solderless butt splice
• End-to-end connection ideal for pre-fab operations
• Slim design fits through standard knockouts
• Perfect for lengthening wire
• Faster alternative to traditional butt splices
• Transparent polycarbonate window for visual inspection of connection
• 32A / 450V rated
• BS 7671:2008 (17th Edition) compliant
• Manufacturer part no:

Not to be used on stranded wire with more than 7 strands. They can be re-used (twisted off), if previously used on a solid wire. They have a "probe hole", each side, for a meter probe. The body is polycarbonate - not your regular cheap plastic.

I'm still not convinced in spite of all the certification. I've been trying to find out what materials are used inside the shell. They aren't "jelly filled" and so the surrounding air is going to gain access to those materials. If that is warm and high humidity, it may easily condense out on the metal inside. Combine that with dissimilar metals and in a decade or two...

OK, so not everyone lives in a solid stone walled house with no dpc in the land of the perpetual drizzle, fog, low cloud and mist.

Regarding the air and humidity concerns you've raised can be said for 99% of connectors, wago and others.
If i remember these are supposed to be installed where they can be accessible for inspection.

I've used them and they solid, i don't think I'd use them with stranded wire, wagos are more suitable.

These come handy in consumer units replacement or back of a socket when you have short lengths on the wire. They rated at 32A too.
