purchased this exact model about a month ago it was my first chainsaw so was a bit wary of buying and using it, did some research via YouTube and read the instruction manual carefully and found it easy to use just use common sense and safety, also similar thing with all chainsaws don't let any soil go near the chain or it will blunt the chain I had to but a spare chain of ebay, and don't forget to buy some chainsaw oil part no 27933

Lots of positivity for this one.

How does an electric cutter compared to petrol? We've got a petrol one and it spends half the time in shed for maintenance!

If you can get a cord to the job, there's little point in using petrol. The motor on these is sufficiently powerful. As for the rest of the kit - it's a cheap chain saw. It's fine for DIY tree felling or cutting up bulky body parts to make them easier to move so good enough for most people's purposes. I've got several chain saws - 2 similar to this and a cheap petrol. I can't remember the last time I used the petrol one.

Brought one of these recently to cut some conifers down. It certainly earned it's money.
    Been fantastic.

Good quality chain but why non adjustable? Are they referring to when the chain stretches because they do and if you can't adjust the blade length, that's pretty poor.

It is adjustable via a small screw

You lot have convinced me I was looking at an einhell because I've already got a 3a battery. But I only need it for near the house and I've got a 18m extension already. How hard is the oil to change and do you need to empty the oil when it's not in use? Sorry if stupid questions I've never owned a chainsaw lol

Don't need to change oil, just keep topping up,window lets you know when it's low

I have had 3 of these over the past 7-8 years very good saws for the money mine would last about 2 years. Then it used to be 3 years warranty then 2 years now it seems to be 1 year.

    so it is your fault

I have used one of this and worked so good. I need to now replace the chain saw. But looks very expensive just to buy chain.

3 chains for less than 15£ on ebay

    Really light weight also.
Easily chopped down some dead shrubs.
Just add oil, gloves, protective eyewear and good footwear.

    Don’t forget ear defenders

Or, for £7 more there is this model with a 2 year warranty - screwfix.com/p/t…9fg
Would anyone know if, apart from the extra warranty there are any significant differences?

This is the old model though apart from some minor orange colour updates on the new one they are virtually identical, according to the instructions manual specs the new model has some minor speed upgrades, there are no stores anywhere near me with the old model, though you are correct the guarantee is only 1 year now, that's a bit sneaky from screwfix

I keep being drawn to the idea of a cordless one, but that's nearer £80 & has a much shorter bar.

And your battery or charger will die

Yup, another happy customer. Bought it while my petrol one was away for warranty work and will now sell that and stick with this

Can you sharpen the blade on this or does it just get replaced?
    secsteel's avatar
Sharpen it had mine 3 year's still using the original chain

I have this one as my first chain saw. I don’t use often - just add oil to keep in window view and tighten the plastic screw for the chain every now and then.
Much easier to use than I expected.
Buy chainsaw oil, gloves, ear defenders, safety glasses and electricity.

Oh and you have to pull back on top handle and press button for it to work. Took me a while to work out. (edited)

Buy the electricity.. lol, yep that's a prerequisite.. I'll make sure I get some from the electric shop on the way home. 🏼

i have this as well. my first chainsaw So my expectations were perhaps unrealistically high. I thought it would be able to saw a tree trunk was very disappointed to discover it’s only good for branches.
