This is the permanent fix for chip reset, like I used
The other option is to buy reset chips for the cartridges - but I've not tried that

Edited By: mcintg on Jun 04, 2012 14:39
Just looking at the cost of none Samsung toners is £89 per set and yield only 1000 pages, so maybe not so cheap?, not had time look for cost of transfer belt / drum. I know you can refill but most toners have a chip build in which don't make it so easy to reset most have to be replaced..
does the chip work for this printer, if so have you got a link?
I have the CLP-315 which I chipped using a chip from ebay - now I can refill the cartridges for about £20 a go
Stealth_Fox
I've been put off Samsung printers by all the stories about remote firmware upgrades to stop 3rd party toners working. I ended up getting an ethernet enabled Brother colour laser for £116 from Amazon. It got great reviews from Trusted Reviews etc, and am happy with it. I can get a full set of toners for not very much at all too :D
really cant see them doing that

As you say the warranty is with Samsung after 28 days of purchase so this matters little othen than the fact they are reputable recognised retailer on the eyes of a receipt and warranty purposes
But on all that aside ive ordered 90% of my computer part from this dealer, i find them to be fast and efficient of delivery, i also participate in a little chit chat on their forums which nets me free delivery on their services which is great to say its nexdt working day! =)
i know a lot of people don't like overclockers, but in regards to the 3 year warranty, if it's with samsung direct anyways is there any downsides of buying from ocuk? im seriously tempted as this is a great price and would love some feedback from people on whether they would buy from overclockers or wait for amazon, ebuyer etc to price match?
Yup very easy with AMD.
Reason I got this one, I have a 6970
is this the one that works better with AMD cards because of the DP connection?

i have a 7850 and at this price im tempted to upgrade my 24" benq .

anybody have any experiences with the these monitors and amd cards, how easy is the 3d to get working?
Yup i was afraid the stat gang would be out in force voting cold
This monitor is not posted with the idea of things like photography in mind

I spend 90% of the time i do playing either First person shooters, or real time strategys, for this, its near as damn it perfect =)

I can confirm phones4u are doing much better deals for S3 over the phone than there website. I managed to get 12 month contract for £46 a month with £97 cheque after 42 days with 900 min, 3000 txts and 500 mb data. So total cost over the contract period comes up up to £452. I got the contact details of the telesales person. If anyone is interested I can PM the details plus we can get another £50 if you use my ref as existing customer.

Please could you provide more details on the person who offered the deal. I tried it through the phone but they werent convinced. Please could you explain how you did it.

Well this £46 deal is for the upgrade only. But you can still get £36 a month plus £89 for the handset from telesales. Plus another £50 off if you use a referral.

I have accidently uninstalled this,I have since reinstalled is but it all my miles have gone and it has created a new account, has anyone any idea how to use my old account

My phone's been with Samsung for repair since last week, but I'm getting it back today. I'll reply again later today or tomorrow, hopefully with a helpful comment. Just wondering for now though, had you linked your account to Facebook, maybe that would have made a difference? Also, do you need to provide an email address when signing up?

I've not looked at or used the app for almost 2 weeks, I could have raised well over £100, as it happens, I'm stuck on £62. :(

Oh, and just an update about the data usage, in the past 8 days 'Samsung Hope Relay' has used about 89Kb of data.

Here's the details of data used by other apps in the same period:-

Heatdroid - 544Kb

Facebook - 15,500Kb (I don't even use Facebook on my mobile)

BBC News - 33,000Kb

Enhanced Email - 76,000Kb

'The Hot Team' you say? Why you sir, are on! I shall be going for another run soon, I will add myself to your team at the earliest convenience. I do roughly 15 miles a week if you're interested.

Sorry I missed your post the other day, I've actually raised £37 in 8 days (£35 since creating the team) yet it only shows me as having raised £9 - if you click to view my stats you can actually see my total. Currently position 207 in the country!

Anyway, I'm really quite frustrated that people have been voting this cold, I know it's not a deal in which you're gaining anything personally, but I honestly do think it deserves heat considering what it is.

Been looking on the net.. There are Canon & Pentax lens adapters for the Samsung NX series. No idea how well they operate but would be a nice light-weight alternative to lugging round a DSLR.

thats one of the reasons I fancy a camera of this type.
however a seperate flash puts me off this particular one TBH

Nice price but you are restricted to Samsung lenses. A 4/3 camera will give more choice for lenses and bodies and doesn't cost more.

You can always use manual lenses and adapters just like a micro 4/3.

This kit has always been around the same price as the camera and lens alone as I almost bought one for a present from PC World a little while back when the kit was actually a couple of pounds cheaper than the camera/lens alone at around two hundred or two hundred and twenty iirc.

Because it's a compact camera. Although you can get a viewfinder for it that connects to the hotshoe.

No, it is a Compact System Camera. What's the point of having a camera with interchangeable lenses with no viewfinder?
In my opinion it's a strange camera, but it's good for the price for the right person.

Why is the cashback included in your deal price, this should be amended to £372 as cashback is never guaranteed.

If you see the calculations - the £372 is by taking the bolt on off and before the cashback - the cashback element takes this to £322.

This leads me to my question - which I have posted before on these threads but am yet to receive a reply

So I'm a little confused with this - some people state that O2 changed the T&Cs and you can't get rid of the data bolt on - however others state that you can and they have done since March when these changes supposedly took place.

I've enquired with O2 and according to their online staff you can remove the bolt ons - so whose is right and who is wrong?

Deals posted should only show what you are paying for the duration of the contract, cash back is outside of the scope of mobile contracts and should be omitted from the overall deal price as it is not always payed.

O2 did change their tariffs however Bolt Ons are removable:

Pay Monthly Bolt Ons Terms
General

We reserve the right to withdraw or amend these Bolt Ons and/or the terms on which they are offered to you at any time. They are Additional Services (as defined in your Pay Monthly Mobile Agreement).
You have to give us 30 days notice if you want to cancel your Bolt On or Bolt Ons by calling the Customer Service number on your monthly bill.
Bolt Ons are available through our stores, My O2, our online store and some indirect channels.
Any Bolt On inclusive allowances will be taken before your standard Pay Monthly tariff inclusive minutes, messages and/or data.
If the Distance Selling Regulations apply, once your Bolt On is activated you will not be able to cancel under the Regulations. Your statutory rights are unaffected.

O2 will still allow you to remove of the bolt-on
However since March 12 they've stopped you downgrading the contract after 12 months
Worth mentioning though, its advisable to get it in writing from a third party seller, that you can remove the bolt-on, without penalty.

Bought this tv last week, great picture, sound is good and its also freeview.i am well pleasf with it. Also bought a wall mount for it which is now a third off and it saves so much space. Would say go for it a great buy. Dave from Colchester.
Zoea
effing tempted - my wall is too small. Will it look silly? :)

Of course not, don't worry; it can only enhance and add to the aesthetic beauty of your upright structure of masonry, wood, plaster, or other building material serving to enclose, divide, or protect an area, especially a vertical construction forming an inner partition or exterior siding of a building ;)
cubed
dont you think 60" is a bit... er... big?

For viewing purposes, only if you sit less that 8-feet away for 1080p content, or 11-feet for 720p
For aesthetic/visual purposes, only you can decide :)
I have just bought the samsung 60" PS60E530 from Currys for £999 and then got the price promise refund when it dropped to £899. The TV is Very very very goooooo, no it's f*****g dreat. I did not want 3D Active or Smart (I have a lap top for that s**te). As it is freeview there is no HD freeview but the TV is 1080P and I have a HD freeview set top recorder so watch through that which up scales the picture quality...fantastic quality. The Plasma screen is best, plasma gives depth to pictures whereas LED / LCD does not, the picture even compared to LCD (well LCD with led back light) is far superior and runs at 600hz absolute flicker free for movies as well. PLASMA is the way to go except I have a window behind me whch I have to close because of the high reflective of the screen. But I had a LCD as well and the PLASMA is best Deffo... get the 60" before its too late... a no frills TV (no 3D or Smart) but for freeview and if you have a HD freeview tuner go for it ...you will definately not be disappointed believe me (and I do not work for samsung...just a fussy f****r :-) forget the running costs. I have an old plasma which warms the room LOL, this new one does not. go for it and you will be smiling cheek to cheek ..before they all sell out!
Gone for the 51 inch. I had wall space for 60 but just felt it was too big for room after making cardboard mock up to dimensions. Also took free delivery and was offered tomorrow but got in laws around so going to wait until thursday to unpack in peace and without comments about wasting the kids inheritance.

But comparing to a 24 month contract (assuming cashback pays out, etc) this would be £12.54 a month for the phone then with (for example) a giffgaff sim on top it would be equivalent to £22.54 a month.

There are similar deals with 200m/unlimited txts/500mb data available for £21.50 a month before any cashback on top.

Edit: Or you can get it for £340 sim free from play.com.

top of the range phones have always been £300 - £400. Just many only ever see the contract price.

At least modern smartphones tend to have most of the tech and utility you'll get from a laptop, which makes that sort of money rather more justified. I consciously made the decision not to upgrade my 10 year old barely-used-outside-the-house-because-it's-3kg+ laptop and spend the money on an SGS2 (albeit via contract, because that worked out cheaper in total) instead.

Well, it turned up yesterday and died today. Just shows boot screen and all i did was load it up. Look at a few sites and close the lid. Went to open an hour later and the thing froze. Blue screen and now nothing.

The other laptop I ordered from them had the correct spec on the side of the box but the laptop itself was different. No bluray or dedicated graphics card.

What a joke.

I've got 1 of these and they are awful, purchased brand new. This product is renowned for poor battery life, snapping hinges due to poor product quality build which Samsung deny and blame wear and tear but the most frustrating part is the internal screws around the keyboard. Due to the thin design the screws have been tightened so tight at the warehouse that less than 3 months the area around will begin to crack. And Samsung will completely deny any responsibility or accept proof via forums.

http://forum.notebookreview.com/samsung/657166-series-9-cracked-case-2-owners.html

http://kurtsh.com/2011/09/02/info-samsung-series-9-a-fracture-in-the-corner-plastic/

Due to the build the base has to be changed to fix which costs approx. 400-500 pounds and thus the reason why Sasmung will refuse to classify this as poor build but blame wear and tear.

Terrible product but far worse customer support.

If you have made the error of buying this piece of junk I strongly advise you buy an extended 2 year warranty from argos - they are the cheapest

however Inland Revenue will be on his case anyway
If you trade beyond a certain limit eBay will force you to register as a business seller so the authorities can easily see who is doing it for profit if they care to ask eBay.
Someone suggested an eBayID for the buyer and they are registered as a business seller and also give a VAT number so not exactly hiding anything.

Why would they make it one per person, they are running a business.

I agree with you sometimes they do that with mobile phones, max purchase 2 for example, however Inland Revenue will be on his case anyway and or probably for use in a large company, school or college

Mobile phones are different though, they are limited to 2 handsets by the networks as they are subsidising the price of the phone. HMRC is always threatening to catch people on ebay, maybe they would be better trying to get some revenue from ebay and amazon themselves.

You've only got to look at some of the businesses pretending to be private sellers on eBay, it's little wonder HMRC go after them. I don't know eBays & Amazon's tax affairs but I' assume they're not doing anything illegal?

illegal no, wrong yes. If HMRC did something about companies trading in the UK whilst registered in Luxembourg for Tax they wouldn't have to go round chasing ebayers, car boot traders, avon sellers etc. The effort involved for the return is ridiculous, remember the guy who has purchased these laptops would of paid vat. If he was VAT registered he wouldn't pay vat on the purchase, plus he'd claim expenses etc, most probably be no different to what he's paying anyway.

I was tempted by this as i'm looking for the cheapest place to just get the handset and use my all you can eat data 3 sim in it - but i just spoke to T-Mobile chat and they said their phones come locked to t-mobile and that they weren't sure about the price to get it unlocked but they thought it was around £20 (don't know if anyone knows anything to the contrary) so it may be worth factoring that into your costing if your thinking of going for it as a cheap phone only deal - shame really - although I guess its still cheaper than most places at the mo (if tcb pays out that is)

Heat Added for what its worth :-

This is the best deal i can find at the moment for a pre-order with cases/screen protectors and 4% cashback.

I dont want a 24 month contract or silly 100mins 500mb data i want the handset with a sim only deal.

I have lost faith in Play since they were taken over and dont trust their delivery or Amazons bog standard deal

If anyone finds a better deal for the rrp of the phone with "freebies" thrown in i'm sure there would be a few of us in the same boat.

There are several company's charging £550+ for a pre-order of this phone so i wouldn't nock this deal.

evidence?
Basic knowledge of SSD's, SLC can withstand a lot more data transfers over MLC drives. So that practically tells you they have a shorter lifespan.

That is not evidence that these parts will last longer than CPUs/ GPUs, or indeed evidence of the length of time they will last. SLC drives are too expensive for the consumer market and although they can take much more of a beating they are not really required for general use.

Worth looking at these figures ->

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?271063-SSD-Write-Endurance-25nm-Vs-34nm

Most USB drives use SLC and I am yet to have a drive that fails because of wearing out the cells. Looking at artciles about HDD failure/ SSD failure I would say that SSD is much more reliable (brand/controller dependant) than a HDD as there are no moving parts and it has a more definitive lifetime than a HDD which could potentially break at any point due to mechanical failure. For the average user as long as you buy a decent controller (preferably non Sandforce (unless it's Intel)) your more likely to upgrade the system as a whole before the SSD dies.

I had a 128gb G skill drive that only lasted 2 and a half years before developing bad blocks.. so i'd say a mechanical HDD is probably more reliable.

Might have been a bad drive, or might be indicative of the expected lifetime. Saying that I wouldn't necessarily trust HDDs any more, I had one that was DOA before I even got to use it. Another drive I accidently deleted a partition and then the entire drive just stopped working! Until longer term normal use patterns available it is hard to be certain. I would however say that you are likley to get more of a warning before an SSD dies whereas that may not be the case for a HDD.
EssexBoiTroi
I can see that everyone here but me knows what an SSD is ... but perhaps if you post a good deal, you could explain to the simpletons such as myself what it actually is, or what it's for?

thanks.

Hey Essexboi, in a nut shell, SSD stands for Solid State Drive. Traditional hard discs use a spinning platter with magnetic data which is read by mechanical arms that move around the drive. a typical read speed from this type of drive would be about 50-65mb a second.

Solid state drive have no moving parts, they use memory chips, so they're more expensive, but they're also up to ten times faster. Depending on your hardware this can be up to 550mb/s (under ideal conditions, we'll not go into all of that).

The bottom line is that your computer will get turbo charged, windows will load up in about 10-15 seconds, application launches, especially big ones like Photoshop or games will be dramatically reduced.

If you look on youtube there are videos of people demonstrating the difference, loading up windows along with 21 application launches, and it's all done very quick.
Now £96.99.
Balls, just going to get one after checking my finances. I thought this price was for today.
Expired.

How about spending 2 minutes doing your own research - put SSD into a search engine and you'll have your answers. There's no need for people to explain the benefits or the deals they post
