Got a Combi Boiler . Thinking of changing the separate taps to Basin Mixer taps. Is that ok ?
Always had separate taps , hot and cold. Thinking of getting "basin mixer taps" . will they work well ? or be a problem for combi boilers? Any advise will be appreciated. Thanks...
I have a combo boiler and mixer taps in the bathroom. The bath mixer tap is also a shower aswell as mixer tap. Works very well.. good pressure and heat mix etc.. no issues what so ever

We have a combi and all our taps are mixer taps. Works perfectly.
No problem , just think of your shower that you probably have already ,that's effectively a "mixer tap" -will work just fine . (edited)
No issues with using mixers. It's only the same as having 2 seperate taps except on the mixer they both go down the same taphead into the basin. Won't affect the combi at all.
Absolutely no problem whatsoever. Water flow from the boiler is not affected at all until the hot and cold pipes reach the mixer part of the tap.
Do you have a cold water storage tank in the loft? If you do, then a mixer tap is not suitable due to the pressure differences. I would have expected a cold water tank to have been removed though if there ever was one.

doubt it as the combination boiler will have been supplied by mains water wouldn't be used for the cold water as it will not be good for drinking etc.

I doubt it too but better to check. Depends how good (or lazy!) the boiler fitter was. Point being if cold is gravity fed from loft tank pressure will be unbalanced at mixer.

can a boiler actually work from a tank without any extra pump added on to it won't it nacker it.

No loft tanks , as removed when changed to a combi boiler. Thanks for all the reply.....
Any good brands ? or which Brand to avoid ....;)

No boiler won't work on likely gravity head. Situation I found was bathroom had properly balanced hot and cold gravity fed when built. Combi installed removing hot cylinder and capping off all pipes keeping loft tank. Hot was then fed from combi boiler in kitchen on mains supply. Bathroom then had unbalanced supplies for hot and cold.
Safety wise it's fine if you don't have/aren't using water storage tanks. Unfortunately in practice it might not be such a simple thing to switch over. The holes in the sink for single taps aren't big enough for a mixer tap. Which almost certainly means a new sink. I looked for ages and unless it's a small sink and the holes just happen to be exactly 220mm apart so you can use one of those bath mixers, you're a bit SOL.
