Which coax cables for Sky Q install?

Hello,

I am getting Sky Q installed next month, my house is currently getting renovated and is due for plastering next week. I want to run some coax in the walls before it gets plastered.

Could anyone advise me on the best/most suitable cable for doing this? Also, I take it I will need 2 cables (on my current 'old' sky install there is 1 cable but it splits into 2 for the box)? Or will I need more as sky Q can record more things at once?

Any input would be much appreciated!!

Thanks

Adam

p.s. whats your thoughts on a hybrid LNB?

why don't you bury ducting in the wall and then can put anything thru, also make sure you put a string thru before burying then can pull thru when needed.

Have you ordered Sky yet?, Could you call them if you have and get the name of the installer as it may be a sub company who may give you the cable before hand so you can pre fit it.

Think best if wf100 but go for the shotgun option of 2 cables together

This is good quality cable at a good price industry standard single cable but just run 2 cores ideal for longer runs with less loss or could go for the shotgun cable 2 cores bonded together smaller diameter but still ok over relatively short runs but personally I would go for 2 runs of the webro ... see link. cpc.farnell.com/web…804

just bought this cable myself last week free delivery from cpc which is Farnell electronics a good quality cable ..... foam inner core and a 1mm centre solid copper core with twin shielding foil lap and copper braid .... beware of cheaper cables that state cca or copper clad aluminium....these are cheaper but not as good .....

Get a length already made up with moulded plugs. Its the connection that is usually the problem.

Are you putting in multi rooms if so use a loft box unit from loft run 2x wf100 to each room which will give you sky and free view tho you need to buy the better equipment.

Sounds like he's got Shotgun cable already as says one cable splits in to two at box.

This is the exact same one at maplin yea? http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/webro-foam-100-wf100-coax-cable-black-priced-per-metre-a42ra

I know its cheaper on CPC, but I need it asap as plastering is starting at the weekend!

Did you use this to connect directly to the dish? I mean, should I leave enough spare cable in my loft to actually connect to the dish when sky engineers come out? Or will the sky engineers connect on to it in the loft?

sky will not go in loft or drill interior walls health in safety blah blah maplin cable OK ....if you know where dish going leave a bit of spare in loft and either drill through wall in loft or poke out under eaves or soffit near dish location .....

yea i meant for when they drill through the external wall beside the dish, i.e, will this cable I buy be connecting to the dish (therefore I need to account for the extra length when purchasing), or will sky use their own piece of cable and connect onto my cable

Im restricted to maplin as I need to buy it tonight (i initially thought it was included in the rewire) and it needs to go in tomorrow. So I have to go and measure up today after work which rules out amazon!

Sky are reluctant to go in loft spaces they run exterior and drill through wall you could connect cables but better without ..... yes this cable goes direct to dish ... don't forget when you measure you need 2 runs of cable to dish from point your having your sky box ...give yourself some spare too .....

Leave A couple of meters from wall where your having your sky box too to direct connect to box
