Question about changing my plan with O2

Hi guys.

I have a 100gb plan with O2 which at the moment costs me £19/month. The contract has expired so I can cancel it. I only use 10gb tops, usually it's 3-6gb.

I'm looking to get this plan:
hotukdeals.com/dea…062

Or the one with 20gb which costs £8/month. I have Virgin Broadband so in both contracts the gb's will be doubled via Volt.

My question is, do I buy the Sim first, then cancel the plan and get the text to move the number to the new Sim? Has anyone done it like this before? I need to keep the same number I have now.

Will I be able to move my number this way from an O2 sim to another O2 sim or do I need to maybe use another sim like a Lebara or Giff Gaff first?

Just call customer service, and they can change your existing contract to new one. Keep existing number

You think they'll give me the same offer?

If contract expired you can move it to another o2 deal as I did the same for my wife on a money supermarket deal advertised on here a few months ago. You can keep your number (edited)

The normal o2 deals that come up on here will allow you to go through the order and sign up process. At some stage during the process, it asks you to either create an account or sign in with an existing one.

I and many others on here have done this and moved onto the new pricing plan without any trouble or need to port out and in, it's very simple. (edited)

Go to a site like Money Saving Expert

    moneysavingexpert.com/che…o2/

Choose a SIM only deal - for instance the 20 GB for £8 pm includes Disney + (some of the options don't include an extra, you find out by clicking on the deal).

After clicking the deal, go to checkout then login and upgrade your existing number

I selected plan on uSwitch then as you go through it asks you to sign in and bobs your uncle.

You should be able to change your contract via the My O2 app.

I tried but it only gives me "upgrades" which are basically more expensive Sim deals.

Small update, did everything through the O2 website, I only had to speak to an advisor about my Volt benefits (doubling the data from 30gb to 60gb) as on the website it said that I wasn't eligible.

    Thank you guys!
