Virtual Reality (VR/MR) Owners and newbies discussions and tips.

So with me never dabbing in VR before, the Quest 3 caught my eye and I decided to bite the bullet. It should arrive today so will be getting it all set up. I've read I'm probably going to need to fork out some extra money on a better head strap.

Aside from this, my main motivation to get one was for films. I've read about a Skybox app that is supposed to be good.

Does anyone have any helpful/useful tips for someone coming to VR for the first time? things that enhance the experience? must have apps? etc.

I'm also keeping a keen eye on the apple vision pro, but that's a discussion for a later date.

Also as a sidenote. I was going to go with the 512gb (Quest 3) version but Amazon had no stock. Checking my local argos today though they have them ready for collection.

I use my Quest 2 on a near daily basis, however the only game I play is Beat Saber.. It's definitely a worthwhile game to own if you enjoy music and exercise. Depending on the difficulty you choose it can be an insane workout.

I'm not familiar with the Quest 3, but if the controllers use batteries then it's probably best to stock up or get rechargeable ones.

Just got a quest 3 for my kids (ahem) and wanted to get a few games like beat saber to get started with. Doesn't seem to be much info on where best to buy. Is there a quest store or should I look at Steam or would the likes of CdKeys sell VR titles? Also no idea what a good price is for BS?

Amazon is great to watch in at the movies mode.

YouTube has some great videos too.

Just be careful with games or anything where you are moving lots, you can feel really ill all of a sudden when you aren't used to it.

Nearly all games will have a discount at some stage (or you’ll be offered 30% off codes occasionally with no rhyme or reason). So my advice would be that unless you really can’t wait, patience will almost certainly see the cost come down for a short period. Alternatively, reviewers will post discounts which will often give money off.

Be interested to know if you can fully use it without FB/meta and what "quirky/indie" type apps you discover.

I'd want it for just "Google Earth" type stuff or random stuff like looking round Unreal Engine 5 type creations. Or I had one on cardboards years ago that was just floating down a river.
