contact the person that it is sent to by mistake and the person who should be getting it and ask the guy who should be getting it to go to the other address to pick it up, ask the other guy to keep it for him.

How do I contact the person I sent to by mistake if I have no contact details

Have you contacted Royal Mail? I doubt you can change the address now though. I would just explain to whoever you are sending it to that you added the wrong door number, and they will hopefully understand and can talk to their neighbour.

yes only problem is i have rang and emailed then to no response. I was going to ring a business on that street and ask them if they could help me but im sure that would look weird

Is it a tracked 24/48? You could try intercepting it on the tracking and divert to a post office or something

I think it allows you to do that once it arrives at final processing centre but I think they have to attempt deliver before that I think

Was it something you sold on eBay ? Could contact buyer in that case, otherwise as above advice get it diverted to a local collection point I'd suggest the best one as the royal mail delivery office collection point, presumably the recipient will ask you for an update then you can take it from there, failing that if it doesn't get collected which presumably it won't then it will be returned to sender after 18 days

Best bet would be to contact the actual person your sending it to, let them know the mess up and maybe see if they will look out for the postie as if there in the same street they might know the postie and could ask them to look out for their name going to the wrong number?

I did try phoning and emailing them i asked them to email me back once they have read the email but nothing has happened is my idea of ringing a business nearby in the street a good idea or do you think it wont work?

Amazes me why people sign for parcels belonging to someone they have no knowledge of - can only think they hope no one comes for it and they keep it

People don't always read the label before they sign. They assume it is something for them or someone else in the house. You don't have to sign for parcels these days either, you would just automatically take it when the post man hands it to you, or in our case, leave it in our porch.

Contact the person who was meant to receive it and ask them to go knock on the door of the house it's addressed to before the parcel is due to be delivered,
they can explain the mix up to them and get them to sign for it and hold on to it for them

I’ve done this but customer is not answering emails or phone calls, their phone number is a landline

download the royal mail app. Put the tracking number in to the app. Should hopefully give the option to update delivery etc to local post office / depot
