This is an incredible machine. Was a PC killer for my business. Cannot recommend highly enough. (edited)

Got 16 M1 Max MacBook pro Still need PC for 3D works no matter what apple fan boys say

All these youtubers they talk about apple because it is most view generator

Another thing M3 Max is on the market and
    Apple M3 Max 16-Core outperforms Apple M1 Max by 93% in Cinebench 15 64-bit multi-core.
What I'm saying that you buying old tech already
    This year M4 releasing

Not going to argue as different people different needs Just my point
Nobody think about real world usage when i start using then i can see the problems :
    1) HDMI 2.0 and apple scaling Prepare to buy apple Studio Display for another £1500
yes there dongle to display port possible can do 120 4K But what about HDMI 120Hz or HDR
I managed to get 120 Hz using external HDMI adapter but needed to program adapter to trick apple to 120 Hz No what about 120 hz and HDR this where problem start coming working not working ..... after issues No just using 120 Hz 4k 10 bit but Oled can do HDR but i can not use because of apple HDMI 2.0 plus they limiting adapter as well
Why apple put to PRO laptop HDMI 2.0 ????? o but in M2 PRO they made HDMI 2.1 and WIFI 6 apple way get little by little Sma thing with iPhone 15 Pro USB - C WOW

    2) No keyboard no Mouse Prepare to pay for apple or Logitech mac keyboard & mouse maybe £200
    3) SSD 512 Gb Prepare thunderbolt 3 Dock with SSD another £100-200 for the case only SSD is separate price
    4) No expansion Slots , prepare Dongle life style
Example I have 1 TB SSD mac and it is really very minimum these days to add more storage is plug external SSD dongle and this all the time like this
Instead of add to macbook another SSD like other laptop have i need to have dongles all around laptop
    5) Does not matter 32 Core or 24 Core GPU
GPU is useless WHY because apple eco system have very little 3D app to use these GPU . Yest there couple AAA games , autocad 2D and Blender This is most what i know for 3D works .Does not matter if you have 16 Core or 24 Core or 32 Core No difference
Example I have 32 Core GPU and where to use ???? for 3D ????? it is already 3 years where is the Software
6 ) Same thing for apple eco System What apple say or give this what will run on M1
if apple do not think or do not want Then going around will not work because all system is locked and disabling security is like opening world to your doors

Wonder if the new one is launching in June ? Still confused to go for this or the 2023 version

I would hold off for the M4 because of the encryption security flaw with the M1, M2 and M3.

It can't even be fixed with a firmware update.

I have this machine and it's great. But not bothering with a new one until the M4.

Is this in any way more performant than M1 Max Macbook?
  4. Ariell0's avatar
Not to be a party pooper but there is a slowdown patch on the way.
TL;DR: An unfixable vulnerability was discovered in M1 series. A workaround is being worked on but it requires extra validation steps to block unauthorised memory access.

I like the "Up to six Thunderbolt 4 ports" in the description. Introduces some jeopardy on the purchase. The fun of finding out how many you get, is it six? Is it just the one?? Is each one different??? (edited)
    jaffamuffin's avatar
Depending on model of studio the front ports are only usb3 not thunderbolt  this one is just 4 not 6 i think

Meh, I am well jealous. These prices are never available in NZ. Nice price

At this price one can build the gaming PC including a monitor.
    hihdgiisvjdb's avatar
    This isn't aimed at gamers.

    I have a Beelink 32GB, 5800H, and a 512GB SSD. Bought it for £236 in Alli Express.
    Smoggy1970's avatar
I do like a Beelink. Bargaintastic..

Bought the Mac Mini Pro M2 cheaper than this and absolutely no regrets, fantastic machine.
    sajgil5's avatar
Better then this u wud say ?

    Excellent price, but pretty old.

I am waiting to see what Apple annouce this year, with all the AI stuff coming, we are in for a paradigm shift, so it could be a bad time to buy hardware. Particarly older stuff.

But this is still an amazing deal and a great machine for video editing.
    BigsyBiggins's avatar
This runs all the current AI things as well as an the latest and greatest M3, its bottlenecked on memory bandwidth and that has stayed a constant 400GB/s on M1 M2 M3 max cpus. So its current age isn't much of an issue, yes M4 could maybe up the bar on this metric but then it might not but you can sure as hell bet that it will cost serious $$$

That's a beast for this price a bargain!

Such value compared to what trashcan 6,1 were making for years
  15. KC30's avatar
shame about the 512 but fantastic deal never the less!

Great price! This is a very well specced machine for the money. I have a M1 Pro Laptop with 64GB Ram, but would take this without any hesitation if I didn't need the portability (edited)

I have basic 4-5 years old Mac mini m1 with 8gb. The speed of video editing on it is faster than pc with 64GB. Imagine what this beast will do.
  22. gdale1's avatar
Sorry for ignorance but can you plug this into a 10 yearold apple computer and still use the same keyboard and mouse.
    ChildofChaos's avatar
This is a seperate computer, you wouldn't plug it into another computer? Do you mean a screen?

Need to be more specific for us to help

I love my MacBook Pro 2021 - use it every day and it continues to be badass! This looks very tempting as a permanent solution in my home studio / office though! Seems super powerful and would be great to use for recording my band with 👀

Apple have events planned for May and June. Maybe this is reduced for a reason...
    duckrabbit76's avatar
I imagine its old stock. Apple stopped selling these some time ago. I think the lowest I've seen them is £1400. New versions will be over 2k and I imagine very few people will see much of a real world benefit.
  25. darknesskai's avatar
Love my M1 Mac mini. This a worthy upgrade?
I mainly do 4k video editing.
    Psmeg's avatar
    Absolutely.

The 2 video encoders/decoders make working on video faster, especially rendering.

The additional ram and better port selection make it a better machine to the Mac Mini (I have 3 minis, from base model 16gb / 1Tb model)..

Is there any coupon code to be applied here, I see 1599 as price and it is not reducing at checkout. Please advice.
