My partner is looking for an upgraded MacBook Pro (or Air) as hers is old now and the battery life has gone.

She'll need to do short video editing and mostly running her website / making content. I'm assuming the 8GB RAM should be able to deal with that fine? Would appreciate advice from anyone "in the know" 😁

I’m running an M1 MacBook Pro with 8GB RAM and a 512GB SSD. It runs FCPX well, I edit 4K footage with no issues. So, this would work just fine, although the SSD size would potentially be a challenge with larger video files. You could use an external SSD to get around that though.

Also only two usb c ports my m1 had to be replaced by work because the ports stopped allowing me to charge the Mac or use external adapters

The very definition of "laughing all the way to the bank". Laughing at their richer than they are clever customers.

Amazing how this 2016 spec laptop gets so much heat - regardless of price its simply outdated hardware.

Not an Apple fanboy, but can you recommend an equivalent Windows machine with comparable benchmarking spec please?

Apple with its new system on a chip setup with only 8GB of ram or some other crazy low number is the new built in obsolescence and a way around the new EU right to fix rules.

Scandalous and hope the EU fines them for it.

Would love a Macbook Pro for access to the M chips for audio work (I'm currently on Windows but think Apple will be a better ecosystem for pro audio gear).

However, for my use case (DAW with lots of VST / VSTi / audio tracks running) 8Gb simply isn't going to be enough, no matter how clever Apple are with memory management. I have single VST instruments that will consume most of that and I need multiple open at the same time with minimum latency.

The price bump to get to 16Gb always seems excessive... and all the good deals seem to be for 8Gb models.
