I don't know about the stuff they are selling but I used to work at a place that sells artificial grass and the tape and glue we sold was never going to be shifted once in place. However, you can't guarantee not being able to see the joins. Some types of grass are worse than others for seeing the joins. You also need to get the pile going the same way when joining or it will be obvious.
As a previous poster mentioned you don't really want to be buying several 4m x 1m and joining them together so it is worth checking with Home Bargains if you order 3 whether you get a 4m x 3m roll or 3 x 4m x 1m.
The price is good but a 20mm pile is a bit on the short side and probably won't provide much cushioning. However, we would have been selling 4m x 1m as a roll end (cheaper) as they are not much use for normal lawn areas.
Artificial lawns can get moss and weeds. The weeds should be able to be pulled out easily. Moss is more likely to grow on shady areas where dirt maybe has collected in the pile. Treat this with something like Armillatox.
You should not really fit on top of existing grass. Ideally take off your existing turf, put down a tanelised timber frame (e.g. 4" x 1" on edge) and fill with hard core. Wacker plate the hard core down and put down about an inch of sharp sand then wacker this and get it level to the top of the frame. Now just roll out your grass and fix one edge to the frame (I use screws). Fasten the rest of the grass down keeping the grass taught. Trim the excess off with a sharp Stanley knife. Brush the pile up with a stiff brush. This make take a few goes - will be easier in warm weather. If you find the pile going flat easily then you can brush kiln dried sand into the pile on a dry day to help it stand up better (1 bag covers about 3m2). Job done.
I am sure there are videos on fitting on the internet too.
People think it is expensive - it is compared to real grass. However, the most common reasons buy artificial grass are : dogs wrecking real lawns by **** on them, children not being able to play on wet real lawns, older people not being able to maintain small real lawns, decking areas and outdoor 'loft' living.
It's not necessarily about being lazy (although may be for some), it's about making your garden a more useable space. I have young children and 2 dogs and living in the UK the real lawn is pretty much unusable for 8 months + of the year due to being wet and muddy. Artificial grass means the dogs can come and go as they please and children can play out whenever they want without me having to spend my entire life cleaning muddy floors and carpets!
There is no arguing that you can't beat a well maintained lawn. However, if you have a look around gardens around about there aren't many of these around. You say they will last a lifetime but at the garden centre I worked at you could guarantee that we would have a few people each week coming in asking for a few rolls of turf to replace ruined lawn patches that their dogs had wrecked. Normal turf will be lucky to last a summer never mind a lifetime in shady areas.
I fit an artificial small front lawn for my sister to replace her weed ridden real lawn. She had breast cancer and her lymph nodes were removed. This makes using a lawn mower very difficult/painful for her to use. This offered a good solution (in my view).
I would hazard a guess that the environmental impact of manufacturing a lawn mover & the petrol/electricity used to power it, the chemicals used to weed and feed the lawn, the edging shears or strimmer needed to edge the lawn and the water used watering in times of drought would be more than that of producing a small piece of plastic lawn which should last in excess of 10 years.
never wash my car lol, but the grass grows so fast if I leave it a week the mower can not cope
my m8 in next road did it cost him £700 I was saying total waste of money, but he had the last laugh while I was cutting grass every 4 or 5 days all summer
am going to my store today to have a look, again, first look it was ok, but will take a better look and report back
I have artificial grass in my garden and yes you can still get some weeds pop up round the edges but no mose as yet and it has coped well with all the rain no standing water you just need to give it a good sand base
Look at it this way, you're keeping fit for FREE!

B&q is double price at £15/sqm vs £7.5/sqm at hb
If you keep moving you are unlikely to get mossy!
A machine gun and a rocket launcher........hate bloody cats......
was on the web site so this usualy means all stores
lol hope it wasn't mine as I got a call from them that my order is ready for collection
a total of 16 rolls for my garden
And @miles136 do you wash your car every other day too. Lol
My grass gets cut every few weeks,
YOUUUU WALLLYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!¬!!!!!
I have a small area of land at side of my house, grass not very good there as shaded
I've had it for 7 years and this never happened.
you're supposed to put two layers of sand down first (course then soft). so don't forget to factor that into the price.
the rolls are usually bought 4 meters wide and cut too the length you want. I don't think getting them in 1 meters cuts is a good idea as you'll have to join them all together

That will cost me a fortune to turf a 16x12ft under my gazebo!
