In-store price £249

Also 32gb @ £199, but not available for home delivery and no stock anywhere near me.

Quidco 1.5%, should also come with questionable value £50 voucher.

I think this is a good buy, especially with the 2.0 update in February

£50 voucher is for spending between 1st and 14th march 2012 when you spend £200.

Hot deal but the reviews suggest it's flawed by the lack of available apps, unless it's possible to put android on.

heat added , reserved one for hubby for christmas

i got one when quidco were doing the £100 cashback (still waiting).
Nice little device. I've loaded the OS2 beta and have some android apps on it working fine (twitter, mail, kindle, bbc, scrabble, guardian news), Its great for watching on the TV with a small HDMI cable, and i've used liveonlinefooty, and lovefilm through it great. Sky Go doesn't work though as it uses Silverlight :(

One thing to watch is that on wifi mine doesn't like N settings enabled, meaning it dropped off the network every few minutes so i had to change the settings on my router!

This is an AWESOME tablet.
Many people wrongly assume you need a BB smartphone to make the most of this which is NOT true.
I have a BB but I very rarely link the two up... the PB basically acts as a 'window' to the BB so you can see your e-mails, calendar, BBM and use the internet from your PB via the phone.

Native e-mail app will be coming in the OS2 update which is scheduled for Feb... not sure about the calendar and how that'd work but I'm assuming that's also coming.
Using the internet via the phone - you can do that via wifi hotspotting from your phone anyway. I know some carriers charge you for this but that's tough **** if they do (Vodafone doesn't for me)

Oh, and Angry Birds is available on it since yesterday... that would probably be reason enough to buy for some ;)

Just pre-ordered Asus Prime do I get this until that turns up :p

Nice find, gonna ditch the two iPod touch's that the kids were going to get for Xmas. Managed to reserve 2 x 16gb at my local store. HOT!!

Got one reserved, but the more reviews I read the more I think I'll leave it at the shop. The wifi connection issue itself is reason enough to walk away from this deal
#48
Very hot deal..not sure if I should/will go for this as I already have a touchpad that I don't use, this would doubless fall into the same category..

Lots in stock in all my local stores at the moment though..so very tempting.

If the instore price is £249, wouldn't that be the price you'd pay if you reserved it and collect 'in store'?

Nope - if you just walked in and bought one then yes, however if you reserve online and collect then it's the price on the website
#51
I thought this was only worth considering if you had a blackberry phone and without one a lot of basic functionality doesn't work? That was the impression I got from.the reviews I read for it. Cracking deal though, heat added

I got one from comet when they had the £100 cashback deal and I had wifi problems at first but after changing some settings on my router it works fine as for the tablet itself its great although there is not many games/apps at the moment,

What settings? And wouldn't this then cause problems for the other dozen or so devices that also use the router?

So does this thing actually do IMAP email?

There was an update a week or two ago which fixed the wifi issues.

From what I have heard these will only ever be of any use if somene ports Android onto it. Until then they are not much use unless you already have a Blackberry.

Once they drop to < £100 I may buy one for the kids.

I bought one with the £100 Quidco cashback (still waiting). It's nice but compared to my iPad 1 it is very poor on the wifi connection. Struggles to connect then drops often. I googled and found out that seems to be a common problem.

My wifi connection has never ever dropped. Very impressed with mine.

I cant find an up to date review (no you tube at work), and as most know the original reviews werent the best.

If someone owns one, what are the current teething problems ?

Can something have "Current teething problems"?

i think it all comes down to the apps support. if there is not a big app support then you are buying a limited device.

albeit a good one for this price , i can't bring myself to get one without the app support

can anyone confirm if that has improved or not?
#70
I have just ordered the 16gb for home delivery. Thanks for posting. Unless my memory is playing tricks I think RIM have said they will offer support for android apps at some future time.
#71
Do you know if this will take sim cards so it can be used anywhere for the internet? 3g I think isn't it? Sorry new to all this

OS 2 is being released in Feb/March for this. That should increase the number of apps as developers are writing apps for OS 2 at the moment.

It's also very good as a media device. Get a micro HDMI to HDMI cable (couple of quid from eBay) and you get full 1080p output to your TV for movies :)

I can't believe the number of people buying these for their kids for Xmas. The most I ever got from my Dad was a metal figurine made out of bolts and screws from poundland and for the last 10 years he's bought me nothing. My son's first christmas this year and he's got nothing either.

Anyway, heat added.

Touchpad is better imo. Stick with that.

With regard to app support I think it comes down to what you want. The fact that the browsing is so good eliminates the need for some apps. Theres good games bit expensivethough. Angry birds is £5 and Dead Space is a tenner. Only app I would really like is Sky Go hopefully that will turn up. App support will get better with the 2.0 update which will support some android apps. I love my pb. My computer only gets switched on for work.
