Canon Spring Cashback

Just a heads up for those about to spend money on Canon gear. Canon's Spring Cashback deal starts 7th March running to 31st May. The website on the leaflet I have (from Focus on Imaging show at the NEC) is http://www.canon.co.uk/springcashback/ - but it's not working yet.

Purchases made at Focus on Imaging are meant to covered.

5D MkIII £160
6D £100
7D £80
60D £65

100mm Macro £80
16-35 £160
10-22 £80
17-40 £80
24-70 (f2.8 mkII) £235
8-15 (Fisheye) £155
70-200 (f2.8 IS MkII) £235
Speedlite 600EX-RT £80

G1X £30
G15 £30
S110 £20
SX50 £50

One thing to note the Serial Numbers have to be European ones, so probably no chance of using Ebay/HK dealers to get something even cheaper. There might be a few Canon Bundles in the next few days as retailers match the exhibitors at the NEC (assuming Canon offer the same deals to people like WEX, LCE, Mifsuds etc).

For a similar Nikon cashback (bodies only) check out this -->http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/nikon-uk-various-dslrs-cashback-offers-14th-march-31st-2013-30-150-1499853

I'm expecting the Camera prices to mysteriously rise in the next few days though - being the cynic I am!

hmm £65 off the 60D brings it to £524 for UK stock (assuming digitaldepot.co.uk are genuine). Versus £479 cheapest grey import (hdewcameras.co.uk)
Not too bad.

Hope so, as I'm looking at buying a Nikon. But their winter cashback promo only ended at the end of January didn't it?

Its what usually happens.

I'm after an SX50 so this could be good news for me? Although the OP's post shows £20 on this model yet the image says £50???
Hope its £50 and that was just a typo?
I assume this covers Amazon? As they seem to be the best price for UK stock (around £364) unless anybody can advise a better/cheaper retailer that may qualify for this offer????
#7
I wonder if they'll be anything off the 650D? and i'll also be curious to see whether Nikon do a similar promotion.

Very true but Canon also did Winter Cashback which expired on 24 January 2013...fingers crossed!

Ah I didn't realise that..in which case you'd think there's a fair chance Nikon will run something soon.
I'll hold fire and keep checking! :)

Don't think so, just what's on the leaflet. Seems to be aimed to higher level of cameras this time round.

ooops, corrected it now. As for Amazon - I can't see a problem (so long as it's not a dodgy Marketplace seller)

Hmmm £235 off a 70-200, glad i held back before Christmas, my BDay on the 10th as well :D

Im about to purchase the sx50. Can anyone suggest which of the cheaper online sellers will qualify for the cashback?

Heat added.

Amazon will be fine (as long as it's themselves not a 3rd party).

The cheapest price is this place: http://www.ukdigitalcameras.co.uk , but you'd have to phone them and ask if they are legit uk stockests bought through Canon UK.

Cash back for the macro is better this time round. Was £55 in the winter cash back offer.

I did exactly this, rang them and they said that although they are canon uk stockists that canon won't honour the cashback on this price as its a special deal and not in line with canons rrp - sounds dodgy and when I asked them to explain they didn't offer much of an explanation. The woman I spoke to also implied that their price will probably go up before the deal starts anyway? Like I said, sounds well dodgy and didn't like the sound if what this outfit had to say to be honest so unless anyone can find it cheaper amazon seems the beat place for the sx50

Sounds dodgy to be honest. Exclusions from the offer are grey imports, 2nd hand, any ebay purchase, Amazon Marketplace sellers whether fulfilled by Amazon or not.

I contacted them about a Canon G15 a few weeks ago. They told me that they sourced their stock from around Europe. They could not guarantee that I got a UK camera unless I bought the camera as a bundle with a 16gb SD card, case and extended guarantee. That bundle made their price similar to Amazon. Seemed strange to me.

Nice, a grey import company that has many many upset people and has warnings against it on most thread sites. Based in Hong Kong and actually delivers a package as often as King Kong. Help yourself.

Surprise, surprise their price for the sx50 has suddenly gone up to £369.99 which makes them more expensive than amazon and they want a delivery charge!

Dude, digitalrev - just got my 60D for £460
Was that through Ebay - the Digitalrev site shows £499.00 currently.

anyone seen any decent deals come up, that you can couple with this cashback?
#31
Nothing really special though some of the bodies (6D certainly) has had a few retailers dropping a few quid off it.

Im buying a 7D from procamerashop.co.uk, Does anyone know if I will be eligible for the £80 cash back?
I wouldn't think so - at £669.99 I can only assume it's an import. You could always ring them and ask them though - at least they have a phone (unlike some!).
#33
DiverWadders
I rang and asked. As they "aren't VAT registered, they dont qualify" however, looking on some canon 7d feeds on here, some people have managed to get the cash back anyway as the models are UK ones. They are competitive prices so might be worth a try. (this is still about procamershop.co.uk)
I haven't read any feedback of them, but I can't see it being UK stock. Surprised they claimed this.
Also - either they aren't actually in the UK or I am dubious of the VAT claim. Current turnover threshold for VAT registration is £79,000 pa. That's only 79 high end cameras or lenses a year!

The domain is registered to a Hong Kong co:
Registrant's address:
1223 Trans HK Commercial Building, 41 - 43 Carnarvon Road
Kowloon
Tsimshatsui
NA
Hong Kong

I would say there wasn't even an outside chance you'd get cashback. I would be even more worried as they have lied to you. You should also do some research on how well they've handled returns/complaints.
#35
Other importers with a good reputation are:
hdewcameras
Digitalrev
Panamoz
onestop digital

You wont get cashback with these sites either, but at least they have an awful lot of good feedback across forums. At least the top two of those have UK bases, where they can deal with returns, etc too.
#36
Thank you, thats really helpful.

Anybody know if they honour cashback for two products on one receipt?
Im planning to buy 6D and 17-40 mm using finance scheme so it must be on 1 receipt. I wonder If i will receive cashback for one or two products?
The T&C only mention this:

"2.6. Only one claim per product purchased may be made. "

Drop them an email at [email protected]

I read that as only one of each item so in your case 1x6D and 1X17x40 I think should be o.k.

But I'm no expert on hiding things in terms and conditions!

Enjoy the 6D it's a great camera (bought mine at the start of the Cashback), just got a 24-70 f/2.8 to go with it as well. So a double claim from me!

With regards to finance have you looked at Clifton Cameras? they do 0% over 12 months (though you'll need a valid passport or photo drivers licence to get through the finance checks - I was fortunate to have 2 days left on my passport!)

I just purchased 1dX (not in cashback) and 630EX-RT from Hdewcameras.co.uk, first time I've used them but the have a brick and mortar shop oin SW London, which i was able to collect from and pay over the counter, admitedly it's a unit on an industrial estate and not a shop floor. That for me meant an awefull lot!
Great prices, and when i enquired about cashback, they were honest in telling me the products are imported and would not be honored in the cashback deal due to non EU serial numbers. The flash cost me 339 which was loads cheaper than the best UK deal I could find including cashback.
Needless to say I'm ordering another next week.
#40
So how much VAT did you avoid paying on the 1DX?
