I've heard i9 for laptops could be too much to handle? Like it gets too hot maybe? Can anyone clarify

I have this from work and it can spin fans on a Teams call
But I think that’s what you get on gaming laptops regardless: gaming + laptop = 🔥

Superb deal.. and awesome configuration... unfortunately didn't work for me.. I bought it and returned it quite heavy and bulky, suitable for stationary position on desk... huge brick type power adapter... literally

Thanks for the warning about US keyboard layout. Pain having to type alt163 just to get £ sign

Bought a DELL laptop last year, and didnt even think that a US keyboard would be sold in UK. My fault for not being very careful, and didnt even spot it for some time.

    Always double check in future!

We are in the same boat. Bought a refurb Dell about a decade ago, I thought I wouldn't mind the US keyboard layout. I did.

Not a bad deal at all, nice screen, ram on the slower side? Still really good.

This be any good for music audio production?
    Sam_GnM's avatar
Yeah probably, because of the ram 🐏

Looks like a good deal. 8gb on the 4070 looks really poor though, most new games will max that out surely? I’d appreciate the thoughts

yh personally I hope they fix this with 5000 series laptops. Even the desktop 4070 has 12 when really it should be 16GB

Damn just bought a 4060 lenovo loq at cloae to this price. That's a decent price heat!

This is really hot and loud with that inefficient CPU

20% Quidco on Dell today so this works out even cheaper (I wouldn't use the discount code though if using Quidco since that will generally invalidate the cashback).

Reviews on Dell site are pretty average, but seems to primarily come down to complaints about the US keyboard layout and poor battery life. Some comments about it running pretty hot and some negative reviews just relating to poor customer service from Dell. (edited)

I’m close to pulling the trigger on this, I’m mainly after a laptop with a powerful cpu for work, anything else I can consider at this price point?

This is the best deal at this price point as long as you're okay with the following:

    * US keyboard layout
    * This gets hot which in turn...
    * This gets loud when the fans kick in

All three are deal breakers for me, unfortunately, especially the noise.

The other frequent negative comments were that the power adapter is very heavy and the battery life is poor.

But pretty stonking especially as a desktop replacement with occasional portable use.

    How's Ubuntu run on it?
