I’d rather pay for my coffee than have a smart meter!!
Well if I didn't have one, I wouldn't get at least 6 hrs of energy at 7.5p every day!!! Because of that the cost of my motoring has plummeted!!!! But you stick to your dumb meter!!!

you pay for what you use regardless of smart meter or not. Advantages of smart meter is you can see your usage and you can pay for what you use each month more accurately without having to manually submit a reading.
I cannot think of any cons not to get one

much better than greggs, fxxx greggs coffeeOf course Caffe Nero is better, but Greggs coffee is what it is - cheap bean to cup stuff, no need to be so snobbishly aggressive about it. Much better than naff instant that greasy spoon cafes and the like would've dished out in years gone by.
I've had this since January but I hadn't realised that
A) it could be Nero or Greggs (I'd thought only Greggs for some reason)
B) Nero can be ANY size drink but Greggs is only regular
I also keep getting free sausage rolls with it but that may have finished nowAuthorNero offer started today and will be weekly until October 2024. Sausage roll offer was only for a limited time.
The annoying thing is that all energy users are paying for the roll out of smart meters whether you decide to have one or not,so octopus are discriminating against its non meter customers.
Yeah, most of the operations of the company are on a "whether you use it or not" basis. You're paying for the helplines whether you use them or not, the development of their app whether you use it or not, the creation of their ad campaigns whether you see them or not. That doesn't make Octopus's actions discriminatory, they are just incentivising the behaviour they want their customers to adopt.- Is it 1 code a week? Does anyone know
Yes - Just spoke to someone at Octopus and she said you just need the Octoplus app. I said it should be for ALL Octopus customers . But still not working for me.
Octoplus is part of the standard Octopus app, in the far right tab. You need to opt in for Octoplus though, and scroll down to "All Offers", under "Saving Sessions". If it's not there for you then it might be another reason 
Anyone tried to use the QR code more than once? The code wont go away after use, its possible that it might work multiple times?The codes are unique and for single use only.
The same with Three+ £1 Nero codes, it'll stay in the app, but the Nero system will know you've already used it. If you try, the till will say it's invalid.

I see they're pulling the usual cheap "free coffee tricks" to get people to switch to smart meters. People give up their data and freedoms for free coffees and doughnuts these days, and then companies make fortunes off the back of this. Mark my words, these profiteering energy companies don't have the environment or consumer interests at heart when it comes to smart meters.
I'll make sure to tag you in the next offer for tin foil hats.
Non smart meter customers being forced to subsidise those with smart meters in the form of these incentives. Aim is to get everyone on a smart meter, but as we've seen with the huge recent outage and issues, those refusing have every justification for not doing so.

How does Greggs making any money, they keep giving out free foods to various apps holdersIt's not free to Octopus. Octopus will be paying something, not retail price but something. Gregg's\Nero will have struck a deal on the price with a view that it gets people in and maybe will buy something else or return having sampled their offering.
I prefer Caffe Nero coffee but I really like the £1.30 Belgium bun in Greggs to go with my free coffee.

Aah the Greggs Belgian bun... Not changed since school days... Shame it's no longer 35/45p- I don't remember ever buying a coffee from Greggs, since I always get it free either through Octopus, O2 priority or some other means

I have a smart meter it isn't on my app either. You need a smart meter and I think you need to be signed up to Octoplus. The deal is not explained properly so that's why people are struggling with it. Fact not passive agressivism thingy that is trending now. (edited)

- You don't need the Octopus app, I just claimed a Nero code using web browser login.
Took a screen shot of the QR code, so good to use all week.

Give it a go but I suspect they'll have that one buttoned up - I have been with them for more than a year now

I was with Shell Energy, got them to install a smart meter in November and got transferred to Octopus a month later.
Very pleased how it's worked out, free Nero & all. Maybe I'll win the wheel spin thingy next.
