Game and Gamestation are going bust. Hence the sale. Sheesh you people need to read up on this first.

Hopw they go bust after I got money for my vita

This is the beginning of the end IMO. They're no good for credit so publishers such as EA and Capcom have refused to supply them with stock. They don't have the cash to pay up front so they're pretty much screwed. Once one supplier goes the rest follow like dominoes.
Their shelves were bare enough as it was so you've got to wonder how they intend to restock after this sale. Personally I don't think they intend to. A lot of their games seem to be priced to clear.
#123
It might be worth you adding to the thread for people to ensure where possible to buy on a credit card as if game goes bust (which most people seem to expect now) and if the console breaks down in the warranty period people can put a claim in to their credit card and in most instances get most if not all the money back as the credit card and retailer (game) would be jointly liable. This even applies with second hand goods so worth doing just for the piece of mind.

Credit card joint liability - only over £100.

Firstly hot if you want to take a risk, i think genuinely people do have a point, regarding warranty risk etc, however for a ds or wii looks a good bet perhaps

And yes, take it easy GAME, you have ripped of the average parent for the last time, my local GAME hasnt had any good stock on the shelves for the last 3 weeks, and when you see their share prices plummet like they have, there really is only one outcome.

Shame as i really like shopping in gamestation, hey ho, looks like grainger games for me to browse in my lunch hour

Cant believe this is so hot?Am I missing something. Some prices are only 20 less than brand new. Give game 3 months. :(

Yes only over £100 for CCA protection but most of the major credit card companies will look to write off the amount if under £100 just might take a bit more asking them to do it so really worth it for the extra protection. Additionally nothing to stop you buying £100+ on the card including what you want and then returning to the store at the end of your shopping trip to return the unwanted items as at the end of the day the CC look at the overall purchase made with the company on their statements not the actual till receipt breakdown and even then you can claim it was a bundle deal when buying.

Again my locals have loads of PSPs, I think because before this sale they were offering quite good trade for them, Im going to be looking out for any limited edition PSPs as they are the same price as the standard ones usually.

Everybody wave goodbye to Game / Gamestation / Gameplay .............

Game Group has continued its recent decline on worries about its future.

A number of negative weekend reports about the outlook for the computer games retailer in the wake of last week's news it would not be stocking Mass Effect 3 helped push its shares nearly 7% lower to 4.8p.

There has been renewed speculation recently that US rival GameStop might bid, with MCV reporting it was only the store overlap in Australia which was putting the Americans off. An alternative suggestion was that GameStop might be waiting in the wings to see if Game succeeds in finding a way out of its financial difficulties. If not, it could be there to pick up the pieces.

just read everyone comments here... it will be sad if both GAME and gamestation goes under.
these two were giants and will be missed from high street
i bet online retailers and CEX ate in to their customers and profits

Bring back Electronics Boutique!

Wow, that takes me back. I remember when EB were the new boys in the market.

Heck, I remember when you had to buy games from WHSmith...I still remember the shockwaves when Ultimate started charging TEN whole pounds for their games!
#147
Just a note, if you buy anything from Game/GameStation and they do end up going into administration, you may only be able to exchange goods, not get a refund. Harsh I know, but I remember working for Woolworths when Deloitte changed the refund policy to no refunds, completely legal too.

I'll try and grab a couple of DS console's if my local store has them. Always worth having a spare around when you've got clumsy kids!

This reads like the company knows they have only a few days of trading left.I feel for staff who are always the last to know
#154
Might trade in my 40GB PS3 for a 120/160GB slim model. Thats if they havent slashed the trade in prices right down
#155
Hmmm, I actually saw the Red Wii at £60 on Monday and I asked about the 250gb Slim price today, they said £129.99. Not so sure all of these prices are just starting tomorrow.

Just shows you then how stupid this company is. No cash to buy new releases but will still pay over the odds for a ton of stuff which will only devalue and become a loss leader when they have to flog them off in one of these fire sales. Does anyone at game actually have any business experience.
#157
Argh, I don't get paid until a week Friday. They best have something left. I fancy a 360!! :)
#158
I can confirm this.

Passed GAME about ten minutes ago and saw the promotion on the front shelf.

It's gonna be a scorcher :p

Does anyone know if this applies to the Irish stores?
