    Have had a couple of Mango units for a fair few years now. When I'm travelling I can use them to connect to the WireGuard server on my home router and watch iPlayer, ITVX, etc.., do region restricted banking, and also get clear, secure access to my own servers. No problems, ever, and still being updated with new, easily managed firmware. GL.iNet make pretty solid kit that does exactly what it says, and does it well.

    Sorry Im new to this and want to secure private network. So do you connect this before the modem? My set up consists of a BT-modem connected to a mesh network via ethernet -> TP-Link Deco XE75 Pro | AXE5400 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 6E System.

    BT-modem -> this -> TP-Link Deco XE75 Pro

    What is the point of a separate piece of hardware. Just configure the VPN on your router.

    Not many routers support proper VPN or have the processing power to provide decent speeds.

    This is very very very expensive

    Seems a very good price for the Aluminium case version, seeing as the same thing is £83.49 from AliExpress.

    £83.10 v £61.47 is hardly "very very very expensive"

    not worth using a power hungry old computer or laptop for this, consider a rasperry pi, even a cheap v3 or v4 would be more suited, or even the fibrebat mini pc when they come up for £75 / 85 inc from ali as an alternative

    if you're a novice, then this GL.iNet would be more suited than starting from scratch on the software aspect (edited)

    Is there a way to get increased encryption speeds than this?. Anything nearer to realtime, I have a 1g connection and wouldn't mind something that got around 600-700M

    v4 raspberry pi is a fraction of the price and you can use it for the same purpose. been running wireguard vpns off raspberry pis for years and they've run flawlessly

    Same as me, I’ve got wire guard running a on a split VPN, my dns lookups are routed through it for handy ad-blocking on the go, as well as access to my local IP services too!

    No offence intended. Love reading the "nerd" stuff here.

    what OS does this run?

    Is it not more economical to have vpn built into a router? Although i can see use cases for separate hardware.

    Depends how good your router is, this will comfortably do:
    Supports VPN Cascading
    VPN Speed of 150 Mbps (OpenVPN) & 355 Mbps (WireGuard®)
    Ideal for hosting VPN server
