    Mini guide if needed...
    1. Register your fee-free card as a payment method at Aliexpress (Ae) - will be using Revolut as an example here
    2. Change currency at Ae to USD, so you'll be checking out & paying in USD
    3. Add the item to your basket & apply all the various discount codes as applicable
    4. Check the approx current currency conversion rate USD to GBP using something like xe.com
    5. Add the necessary funds (recommended extra £1-2 worth on top) to the Revolut app from your bank account
    6. In the Revolut app, use 'Exchange' to convert GBP to USD
    7. Change the default payment currency in the Revolut app from GBP to USD
    8. Double-check you are paying in USD at Ae & the USD funds in Revolut match or exceed what you need to pay, then hit the buy button

    • Recommended to wipe the entire drive+partitions & install Windows afresh on receipt
    - Due to malware concerns, do this with all computers sourced from the Far East, including those via Amazon, eBay, etc & also secondhand PCs from anywhere
    - Some additional useful related 'how to' tips by (thank you) can be found here hotukdeals.com/com…296
    - These are ok for entertainment/tweaking/home theatre purposes, but refrain from using these types of lesser-known brand PCs from the FE for anything critical or professional - e.g. for your job or run a business on. And probably even avoid any financial/crypto transactions on it altogether to be on the safest side
    - If you're concerned to the point of paranoia please refrain from buying - the only relatively "safe" brands are Apple, Intel, Dell, Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Lenovo, HP, Acer, ASrock & similar longstanding & reputable brands in the UK.

I'll add a few differences... (Dell info from here dell.com/sup…-us)

» CPU: Dell is more powerful overall cpubenchmark.net/com…00T, also has 6 cores 𝘃𝘀 4 cores in the Fb
» RAM: Dell is upgradeable to dual-channel 32Gb (2x16Gb) 𝘃𝘀 no upgrade path with the Fb
» Storage: Dell takes 1x NVMe SSD + 1x 2.5" HDD/SSD 𝘃𝘀 only 1x NVME up to 2Tb with the Fb (upgrades with latter are relatively expensive due to the less common 2230 form factor)
» Graphics: Fb is a little better on the iGPU front... UHD 730 𝘃𝘀 UHD 630
    - videocardbenchmark.net/com…730
    - notebookcheck.net/UHD…tml
    » Ports
    - Dell has 1x USB-C port 𝘃𝘀 none on the Fb, but latter has more overall USB ports
    - Dell has 2x DisplayPorts (plus 1x other video output depending on specific one you buy/own) 𝘃𝘀 no DPs in the Fb, but has 3x HDMI in lieu
    - Dell has a headphone/audio jack + separate line-in jack 𝘃𝘀 a single headphone/audio jack in the Fb
» Both should be able to be easily+cheaply upgraded to WiFi 6 & BT 5+ via their dedicated M.2 slots for this
» Fb is noticeably lighter in weight & smaller in physical size
» Dell is more robust overall with much better driver support & spare secondhand motherboards should be more easily+cheaply sourced (edited)

Whats the estimated cost of running one of these 24/7?
    CoolCab's avatar
the maximum wattage of the plug in the device is 12v 2.5a, or 30w. so the absolute ceiling would be 21p a day.

but that would be maximizing what the unit could draw from the wall, i've been running on 12v 2a or 24w power supply and it's never had problems at all, which tracks with some youtube testers that estimated the max power draw under heavy load is about 22w. so the max i could be drawing would be 15p.

but in the real world of course 99.9% of the time is at idle or near idle conditions, i can see in casaOS that the CPU is idling at about 3.5w so alltogether power i would estimate, i don't have a wall tester, total system draw around 10w. throwing my heaviest HDR 4k plex file at it brings the CPU wattage to about 9.5w so i'll eyeball 15w. that's 7p a day when it's idle and 10p a day if it was serving plex all day.

Any good for home assistant? Ideally dual boot if that's a thing?
    dangel's avatar
Very good. And don't do that - run proxmox and then HA in a VM. You'll gain the ability to run another OS too but also you can do backups of the HA OS which is worth it's weight in gold.

    Read that to get going!

Compared to an SSD PI4 it's a rocket ship for HA. (edited)

Good evening all. It's sat in the basket, I'm getting slightly diff price (£) for some reason (no coins). About to buy... but I can't see anywhere in current listing description that it comes bundled with W11. What am I missing? The 3rd image in original posting above has Intel/W11 image, which doesn't appear in the Cuteliving Store listing that I can see.
    Thank you.

Hi, I received mine today from this store on alliexpress & I can confirm mine came with W11 Pro. I fired it up & disconnected the Internet using the command prompt & made a Local account, the Windows license activated, used another command prompt to get the actual windows key to save. Still doing a virus scan as we speak using Malwarebytes, nothing showing yet, also did a Windows Defender offline virus scan & nothing was picked up on that either. No Chrome installed so that's a good sign, at the moment I'm very happy with the purchase, it's a bargain. (edited)

Would I be able to install Sky Go onto this, connect via HDMI to my TV and stream Sky TV?
    CoolCab's avatar
does it have a native windows app? looks like it does. streaming apps always have infuriatingly poor resolutions available in windows for copywrite reasons but otherwise it should work like any other windows computer.

remember, it's not an android device or other streaming stick designed for a tv, it's a conventional computer, at least out of the box. basically a baby desktop. so, for example, remote control integration is nonexistant/poor, you'd need a keyboard at least or a KB/M ideally to get good function out of it.
  13. designer_friend's avatar
Would this be suitable for opnsense?
    SteamedLobster's avatar
That is what I have bought a second one to do... Only thing is the Realtek NIC's aren't the best for pf/opnsense but I've yet to see definitive proof of issues with latest drivers etc.... so figured I'll try. The other test I still need to run is whether if power fails the device will power back on and boot back up which is pretty critical for a router. It has a BIOS option that lets you set that but I've not tested it actually works if I simulate a power failure yet.... perhaps something to try later tonight.
  14. pantaiema's avatar
I am not quite sure what I have missed here. Could someone who knows this gadget please elaborate, why would people need this gadget where you already have your phone, tabs, laptop. When you travel you will carry these items anyway, sometimes all of them ??
    CoolCab's avatar
the unit is basically a self contained and extremely low power computer. in my use case, i set it up as a plex server, so my family and friends can be served my media content. i can do this from my main machine, but then i'm sharing resources if, say, i wanna game.

does that make sense? it's a little low powered machine which makes it ideal as a homeserver, for all sorts of automation tasks.
  15. Rob_Samsung's avatar
    How are these powdered? Usb-c?

I'm interested as a Plex server only.

Any other options worth considering on Amazon like an 11th gen N5095 box?
    SteamedLobster's avatar
Barrel jack, 12v 2.5a.... work great for Plex with hardware encoding. Support 6-8 streams of 4k to 1080p at once.

That poster about the disintegrated wires was me. Sorted it. Ordered some more antennas, opened it up again & after hours of trying to attach the damn tiny tiny connector (it's so tiny and extremely hard to attach) I finally can now get Bluetooth & full wireless 6 speeds (1200). Was worth it but a bit of a pain. Also installed a new 1tb SSD 2242 & a fresh copy of windows 11, license activated & ALL drivers were installed (I made a backup of the drivers from the original SSD just in case). Very happy with the purchase, running very well!. (edited)

Any experience plugging an external HDD to this for a little NAS setup?
    rev6's avatar
It'll be fine for that if you have a SATA to USB adapter/enclosure.

Depending on your OS needs something like DietPi would be a good place to start if you're confident doing things via SSH. You do have desktop options too. Very lightweight and you can run everything either in Docker or a bit of both as you can natively install plenty.
You'll have SMB, DLNA, SFTP, NFS and the rest running in no time.
That's the way I have my setup, albeit much less powerful than the N100. I'd go for this if not for the 1Gbps NIC's. (edited)
  29. davidclack's avatar
I am so tempted to buy one of these, but I have no idea what I would use it for!

Anything really. Check out Docker containers and have it as a server. I use mine for plenty of things such as a NAS, Adguard Home server, bubbleupnp server, Emby, serviio, minidlna. If you like to tinker it's something fun to try.

Otherwise it's just a desktop PC for light PC usage. (edited)

Oh, OK then I'll buy yet another mini PC. That's now 3 - two of these and a GMTEK too.
