Since when did you have to sell your cars? I wonder if some people here are even trying to troll effectively? You are better off upgrading the car rather than selling it. A race gives you so much more credits than selling a car. The game tells you what cars will be competing in a race so you can make sure you are prepared going into a race. If you cant do it then do another type of race. Simples. Its an open ended game

The platinum edition of Gran Turismo 5 is the same as the normal edition. Some platinum games have more content than the normal editions but not sure about GT5. On a plus note the second hand value for GT5 is currently more than this version new. The deal is excellent.
Lastly why are some folks harping on about Forza and the Xbox control pad? A brilliant game on a good console but has nothing to do with GT5 and the PS3.
Game should have been a tenner since day one really.
Shift 2 was a complete mess too. Must have been something in the water that year.
Plus I think people are too proud to admit that Grid was the last genuinely 'enjoyable' racing game.

I have to agree i bought it from best buy and got it 2 days early sold it one day early and made a fiver it was terrible not the same experience i had from a spec for ps2. They say its so realistic well i found it was like driving a 600cc artic lorry with a 1000mph blizzard hitting you in front and cornoring wasnt much better
With a wheel this along with GRID and F1 2011 are 3 of the best racing games I've ever played.
Can't understand all those saying it's not a great game and having to sell cars to progress. I've not sold a single car and completed the game easily, albeit with a lot of time.
Maybe a wheel makes it? I don't know any different.
Heat added.

Driving was good, apart from the fact I found that you kept having to sell your cars to participate in the next race, which got really long in the tooth pretty quick.
And often you'd be in races where your car was seriously underpowered and you just saw the competition drive off in the horizon.
Didn't think much of go cart and nascar either.
But at £10 it's worth a shot I guess.
Agreed on all of the above points. The game just takes itself too seriously sometimes - you just want to race but before it lets you do that you have to go through the hassles of selling a perfectly good car just to buy an old heap to participate in some one off event after which you can sell it for peanuts and you're not better off than before. Load times are pretty scandalous considering the game install weights about 8GB and then keeps on installing additional stuff during playing.
Nevertheless recommended at this price.
no need to sell cars with the seasonal races earning big money, have 1100 cars and if you get in a good clean room online with friends the game is great.
Good find OP heat added.
So basically because your console is a 360, instead of spend a tenner on GT4, you would spend around £1500 on a hundred copies of Forza 3?
The levels arent that important anymore due to the new content so you can blaze through as a newcomer and catch up.
I hit level 13 in 20 minutes without doing much. At launch it was quite different...
This is my favourite game this whole geenration (Wii, PS3,360, PC)

Since when did GT5 ever have lag issues? The trolls are out in force.
A bit of a let down this game and not worth £10
You need to compete in some Seasonal challenges. Pick up easy money to buy new cars that way. I've never had to sell one yet and plenty of cars in the garage
PS3 controllers arent awful, But I have Xbox and PS3, and sorry to say GT5 was rushed out, even though it wasnt really fully finished. I think GT6, will give Forza a run for it money. The real question is will be out on the PS4 or 3......
Prologue version had terrible car physics - handling was totally off for the most part, little possiblility of controlled drifting / sliding into corners - either you go slow or you spin.
2nd that!
GRID was proper fun, fantastic damage engine, best online races…. then server switched off!!! I found GT5 more like work than fun. But would agree £10 is a bargain
Can't agree with you on that. GRID hit a better line between realism and arcade for me that made it immensely fun. Shift was decent but had the usual NFS issues, mainly handling (IIRC).
As for GT5, it's for die hard driving simulator gamers that use gaming wheels. Doesn't work quite as well without one. But for £10, it's a good deal.
Seems to be a massive difference opinion on this game, I guess I'll have to be my own judge on this game!
