For coffee, burr grinder (rather than blade grinders like this) are the way to go. The cheapest burr grinder you can find will make nicer coffee than this.

I personally could not spot any better taste via burr grinder per a blind taste a friend arranged. In the attached video they did 6 separate blind tastings with coffee experts and none of the 6 tastings resulted in the burr grinder coffee being voted superior.

Clearly others may have different views but I'd suggest a blind taste before shelling out loads of cash on a burr grinder

    Cold. Useless for coffee

Just some advice people, I used a blade grinder for months and when I moved to burr it genuinely made a huge difference in taste and I would say the only notable difference that is worth it as a pose to all the other nonsense baristas get up to lol for one blade grinders get warm /hot when grinding and also the grind isn't uniform with small /big pieces. Like I said it was the only difference I would say was worth it anything else was diminishing returns. I just got a cheap burr grinder for around 60 I think. Maybe you can get some higher end capable blade grinders but trust me standard ones are not a patch on a burr grinder.

Had one for years and it just won't die, great things. I'm happy with the coffee results even if many would prefer a burr grinder.

Or a brrrrrr grinder, for iced coffee.
Anyway, I have one of these too, it's lasted seven years, so it's been operated at least 7,000 times. Heat.

    Really good product & Brand.
    Purchased over 6 years ago.
Been really careful to never grind for over 15 seconds continous per shot with rest periods to cool.

Oh wow, is it electric or the manual ones?

This sounds like a daft question but... I have a similar one and pouring (or scooping) the coffee out always seems to make a mess. Is there some knack that I'm missing?
    ssuellid's avatar
Nope. I tried brushes, tiny spatula, etc. The best technique for me was to pour out what i could. Then triple check it was unplugged, check again, and then use a finger to dislodge the rest of the coffee.

Don’t use for coffee - you need a burr grinder for that. Superb for spices though.

Can you put water in the cup for making pastes?

Not unless you're wanting the risk of electrocution.
    It's a DRY mill.

This might be a better option.
