It may be the best deal currently available for this product but, to state the obvious, that doesn't automatically make it a great deal.
Precisely. Giving 'Heat' to a Wii U game priced at nearly £45 is ludicrous so I certainly won't be doing so.

Definitely with you on this one
I managed to get one on Amazon this morning too. They gave me a date of the 7th for delivery, which I'm happy about as it may just give enough time to check out Sainsburys and Smyths this Friday before they dispatch.

not true actually. digital purchases are tied to your account. it's only your account that's tied to the wii u. if your console develops a fault, send it to Nintendo and they'll sort it out.
not super convenient of course but it's definitely not true that you'll lose your purchases.
there are numerous examples online of ppl who had issues with their console or had it stolen and Nintendo just restored the purchases. Save games are lost forever though
I'm hoping they'll have stock available in store on launch this Friday.
Estd 4th March here, still tempted to go out and buy launch day though!
I tried to buy Zelda with the PRE5 code but it didn't work, only on ME Andromeda and GR Wildlands now. I contacted them and they said it wasn't available on Zelda and there was nothing they could/would do to change that

They need to figure something out because there are zero Switches in the wild (soon to be around 2 million) and 13/14 million Wii Us... which console are they likely to be making more money on BotW in the short term? How long will it take Switch to make 14 million user base?
Personally, I spent a lot of money on Wii U... I have no issue playing BotW on CEMU or Loadiine if it doesn't drop to the £35 mark... my conscience would be clear.

Yes, there's a very good chance of that happening because only Nintendo can unlink a Wii U from your account.
There's a loyal Wii u fanbase out there who have been patiently waiting for 2 years for the game. To then release a reduced quantity for the Wii u (presumably hoping it will make fans jump you the switch) is very poor indeed and smacks of disloyalty.
I love Zelda, but am not planning on buying a switch yet (or possibly at all, if the games line up doesn't improve) and can't justify an rrp of £45
Plenty of videos on YouTube in the last few days...but in short it looks like they got rid of the gamepad features that were shown a while back
Graphically they look very similar now, the main difference is that the Wii U drops frames in combat quite frequently or in built up areas.
Its been known for a couple of months that they got rid of the gampad features on the Wii U version. Thats not recent news.
Indeed, the new videos of people playing just confirm it
Thanks for letting me know, I've updated the description!
I was planning to apply the PRE5 voucher which takes off £5 on preorders.
I agree! Part of why I bought the Wii U and I struggled to find it on sale even on the Nintendo Store :/.
Have they not produced many for the wii u?
It's not as widely available. The Nintendo Store and Argos only stock the Switch version.
Surely you can just download it off the Eshop i know its not the same/more expensive but it makes it instantly available.

I believe digital purchases for Nintendo are locked to the console and not an account, so if your console develops a fault you've lost your entire library of games.
I personally wouldn't risk it and the prices are ridiculous, also you might need to expand the memory as the Wii U only has 32gb/8gb which is an additional expense.
For such a big release you'd expect there to be more copies available and at a sensible price.
Where has this info come from that there is a shortage?
The fact that nobody can buy it for under £44.99. If many retailers had a lot of Wii U stock you would expect some price competition but that's hardly happening. Amazon haven't had pre-order stock available for some time now which gives the impression that Ninty are not printing many Wii U copies. Going by history this would be a similar situation to the Twilight Princess dual release on gamecube/wii. I don't wanna pay £45 for a new Zelda game but I might have to if I want a hardcopy for the Wii U. Or, you know... it might just be Nintendo purposefully withholding stock in order to increase sale value..... who knows!
Still not sure about the shortage remarks to many ifs and buts.

Sorry my mistake, so if you buy a preowned Wii U are the previous owners account or games still on the console?
Do you mean you pirated it?
Afraid I have to disagree:

This looks like it could be worse than the GC TP situation.
Many people have not received their copies from Amazon yet and places like Game are sold out despite charging £59.99!
I think it is probably a deliberate ploy to push people into buying a switch like you said, but it could just lead to more people pirating the game if they can't get hold of a copy at a sensible price.
