good deal but beware if you like a decent remote then don't buy, I have this in our bedroom and the remote is pants, small, not enough functions and it has to be pointed 100% direct for it to work. My ols Sony LCD remote even worked under the duvet. It's irritated us that much that we're buying another TV now and sending it back

Out of interest how big would you need it? Its bigger than my V+ remote, or a Sky TV remote. Have you tried batteries other than those supplied? Mine lasted all of 10 mins!

Sounds like you got some other TV, this TV's remote is the same size as is typical (2.5"x8.5" ish), and the IR bounces off the walls. What other functions could you want? It has all functions that the TV has!

Great tv and a very good remote!! I mean im no connoisseur but it changes channel from range and is the same size as my v+ remote but slightly slimer. Had nothing but compliments since buying in august.

This is going to get HOT!!

Nearly as good as it got with Best Buy at £398 with £60 cashback netting out at £338.

Very tempting at this price.

Try new decent batteries!

Your symptoms from your remote are that you got weak batteries in there!

Meh ! Had a 42 " LG LCD in the front room for a couple of years, paid a lot more than this which is to be expected for its age, however the blacks are awful, the bleed isnt really that great either, you can definitely see the white at the edges, and the first one I got had a dead pixel in the middle.

Dont get me wrong I have really enjoyed it, but I dont think I would buy another LG LCD, writing this on a Samsung 37 " Panel in the back room and its night and day (obv 2 years newer also) . Left heat as good deal though.

Is it possible that if you have an ancient samsung and a brand new LG your views on the two makes would be opposite?? A lot has changed in 2 years.....

But i bet nobody has got the cash back yet??

I agree about the television having a really poor range/field of view for the remote.
I find the size okay, but you have to point the remote within a few degrees of the sweet spot for it to work.

Kind of figuring as its a budget LCD, that the Panel's in them wont be bang up to date anyway, and also why I said "(obv 2 years newer)". Thus explaining my point I thought without having to spell it out. But thank you for doing that for me. Saying that they came out at the start of 2010, so really only a years difference and they were aimed at the budget market then also, so going on the fact I bought a more expensive one at the time, I would guess the panels would be very similar, if not the same ones. The newer LG's I have seen arent much better to be honest. Good all round TV's but I am slightly dissapointed.

They fed me a load of crap and lies which I have on tape and if they don't compensate me for my time I'll simply put them in the small claims court and get a mate at PA News to flush it onto the news wire when it goes through.

ive got the tv, how do you sort the usb for playback?
#29
I got this tv. Came yesterday. Sorry to drag up such an old thread. But for some this could be useful. Taken from AV Forums: the hack to get movies playing via USB using a oneforall remote...

OK .. Try this ..

TV needs to be turned on ..

1. Press and hold down the MAGIC key on the 8206
(for about 3 seconds) until the rabbit comes
out of the hat (the screen will change to the setup screen)

2. Press the DEV SET key

3. Press and release the TV key to select the device type you like
to setup.

4. Enter 0178 using the number keys. The animated IR Indicator
will blink twice.

5. Now, aim your 8206 at your TV and try the
following keys to test if its working ..

+ or - .. that should be channel up/down ..

6. If your device is responding You can ESC/ESC out of here.

Now we need to program an extra button to open the 'Service Menu'

1. Press and hold down the MAGIC key on the 8206
(for about 3 seconds) until the rabbit comes
out of the hat (the screen will change to the setup screen)

2. Press the KEYMAGIC key

3. Press and release the TV key again.

4. Press the MAGIC (Top Hat!) key once.

5. Enter 00018.

6. Press a key you want to use for this command ..
I used the 'Red' button on the bottom
The IR Indicator will blink twice and the screen will return
to the Setup screen. Press ESC to exit from here.

That's it! .. now press your programmed button and you should see a
pop-up on the TV asking for a password .. mine was 0413.

Now in the service menu go down to 'Tool Option3' ..
from here to 'Divx' and change the 0 to a 1 .. exit out of here
and you should be done.

You probably don't need to use the first part above (replacing the whole remote!)
but I find it handy sometimes.

Hope that helps!
