About the Product:

Men's GT-1000 10 Running Trainers - £45.36 (down from £105)

You can find it HERE on the Asics website

The 10th anniversary of the GT-1000™ running shoe takes a big step forward in what this model stands for. Designed for the runner with an active lifestyle, they're seeking a lightweight everyday trainer with excellent cushioning. The upper has been reimagined with a new engineered mesh that adjusts to your foot's natural shape while providing a comfortable midfoot hold. With the addition of an integrated support system, this application improves the heel fit and creates a more secure feel. Following a more sustainable design approach, this shoe also uses fewer resources to color the sockliner. Featuring a layer of GEL™ technology cushioning in the heel to improve shock absorption, the shoe also integrates a FLYTEFOAM™ midsole material that offers a softer and more supportive feeling at footstrike. Lastly, the DUOMAX™ support system consists of a firmer density of foam placed on the medial side of the midsole to help reduce the foot's pronounced inward roll (overpronation) while improving stability.

Is this GT 1000 better than the other brand, with the same price point? I 'd get a pair of shoes for jogging and light running around the park for exercise. is this worth to buy? thanks

I'm a regular runner of about 100 miles per month. I run in GT-1000. Used to run in GT-2000s until the prices got ridiculous and I couldn't afford £100+ on trainers.

Whilst the GR-2000 were a bit sturdier, the GT-1000 are fine. I used to be able to pick these up for about £35 on good deals, but there is no chance of this any more. For a single pair (you could get a lower price recently by buying 3 pairs), £45 is a good price.

In terms of durability...they are good. Normally I change out my shoes after about 500 miles. My last pair probably hit 700 miles because of the weather being bad so I just kept runnimg in them. Eventually the toe box starts to fall apart.

I'd recommend them as a decent running shoe. (edited)

I tried these a month or so ago on the strength of the positive reviews. They seem comfortable and well-made enough but compared to Ultraboosts and Pureboosts (I know they're both more expensive than GT-1000s) which I've been running in for the past 4 or 5 years now, these Asics shoes just felt completely dead with none of the spring/bounce that you get from the Adidas Boost soles.

Keep an eye out for Reebok Energy Floatrides. They use the same foam as ultraboosts but can be picked up for £40-£50 in sales. Amazing all rounders that still bounce well after 500 miles.

£86.40 for men's Gel Kayano 28s, £77.76 after the 10% discount, which is about as low as I've seen them go in recent times.

I was an ASICS consumer till my last running shoe this year. Barely worn for two casual walks, let alone for a run, brand new and the mesh started separating on both sides and squeezed my toes to the trauma point. I have contacted their customer service and warranty, they took no responsibility.

Upon investigation, I have noticed all their 4-5 star reviews are paid for! Actual customer reviews that are 1-3 are either not published - like mine - or buried under the paid reviews! In my research, I have found out 3 other users complained about the same issues, in a 3-year span! It has been going on for at least 3 years and they will still happily sell the shoes, and take no ownership of their manufacturing faults.

On top. you have the joy of waiting weeks for a shoe and arranging delivery with the least flexible, friendly UPS

The deal is for the blue ones. I think you’ve chosen the black ones.

Thanks OP - picked up GT-2000 for £67 - effectively half original price. Cheapest 2000s in years.

GT-2000's were on sale with sports direct recently for £37 - picked up a pair myself.

However till now ive been a GT-1000 user, and thought it try the 2000s at that price. Whilst they are nice, I feel the heel clutch in the 1000's was better, so often find my heel isnt well secured in the 2000s unless I really tighten up the laces. Considering going back to the 1000s but ideally want an all black colour which I cant find!
