I got three of these (Gold) for me and kids at the last sale. Very disappointed to say the least. You can't just turn up at the venues anymore, which was the norm in the past. Merlin have introduced a pre-booking system, which was supposed to be for Covid period, just to manage the visitor numbers. Post-pandemic and they've still got the pre-booking system in place. And that's a massive scam for passholders. Try to book a popular site a few weeks in advance and very often the passholder portal will say "no tickets available". But then if you try and buy regular tickets for the exact same day their website will happily let you pay for tickets. What's the point of a pass if you can never go when you want to? Rip off.

Once you've bought the pass and they've got your money you go from customer to liability as far as Merlin are concerned. Because they can make more money focusing on non-pass customer sales. So you, the passholder, are an inconvenience for Merlin. They don't actually want you at their attractions.

Also worth knowing that of the 25 attractions, at least 10 are Sea Life centres spread across various English and Scottish towns. And they're not very impressive at all. Maybe the Birmingham one is worth seeing. All the rest are very average. (edited)

Agree, after we got married we got them for a few years as lots of family visited. It’s was great being able to walk in and out of the London attractions as you pleased. Did the London eye a few times, sea life London was good to escape the crowds for a bit. If we were passing the theme parks we’d pop in sometimes.

Like a lot of places they’ve abused the good will COVID afforded to permanently impose restrictions (swimming pools near us have done similar with short time slots).

Worse still they now severely understaff the theme parks offpeak. One of the perks was going off peak and being able to hit all the rides. Now you find they run a skeleton staff so wait times are just as long (less coasters and checks take longer), or worse still the ride is closed for several hours :/

Unfortunately they have a monopoly in the SE/London and are abusing it.

Just form an orderly queue in your garden and burn your money, same experience but you miss the traffic getting home

I want to go the opposite way of the comments that I found it really good value. I bought silver last year and stopped keeping tabs on how much I saved but here’s what I did keep tabs on on my iPhone. I bought the silver pass in a previous sale.

I think it looks like it’s bad value if you can only do weekends/school holidays. If you can go weekdays in term time then yes it’s a fantastic deal.

Don't forget to use Topcashback to get 8.5% cashback when buying from Legoland Birmingham Discovery to get the Merlin annual price for £79. (edited)

Also 5% Airtime rewards and I have 10% cashback on my Halifax credit / debit card too. So worth checking.  (edited)

The above. Exactly this. Scam unless you plan well ahead.

These are no longer worthwhile due to the hoops you have to jump through and lack of freedom. Pre COVID these were amazing (and a lot cheaper, I remember getting gold pass for 139) now they're pointless due to so many restrictions

Keep an eye on you bank too as ive got I think it’s Lego land at 10% cash back so would bring it down,  if you bank with Halifax.

We are in our second year of the cheapest passes so lots of blackout dates but amazing value. I'm a teacher so can't take days off to make the most of it but easily covered the cost this year - since end of February we have been to Alton Towers, Cadbury World, Warwick Castle, Chessington, London Eye, Sealife London, Sealife Brighton, Madam Tussauds.

    I'd still recommend 🔥🔥🔥
