    They are dreadful.

Zero quality control at Merrell anymore.

    A real shame.

I've had lots of pairs of Merrells over the years. As others have said, the quality is not what it used to be. The prices have kept up with the competition, but the quality has not. I've usually gone a full size up in Merrell's too, as they've always been a small fit. (edited)

I have a pair of Gore-tex Moab's which are comfortable but the waterproofing is shocking - even with damp grass in my local park my feet are soaked through. I would never, ever buy Merrell again.

Shoes/boots waterproofing: It should be obvious but these types of footwear need to be used correctly as the waterproofing could turn round and work against you if improperly used. Specifically, if there is a heavy downpour and water could flow down your legs because you are not wearing waterproof trousers that actually cover up the top of the shoes, then flooding into the shoes is almost inevitable, after which you'd wish your shoes are NOT waterproof. You'd be wearing too little mouse bathtubs which have collected all the water from your legs. I fail to understand why shoemakers make low shoes and even trainers (!) waterproof.

SO! I have a pair of low cut Merrells (1st pair were cack and didn't last with terrible soles despite the Vibram brand) and am on my second pair which are OK for the money (wouldn't rush to buy them again). I find the waterproofing totally what I need even in low cut shoes. OBVIOUSLY I make sure I step in water no deeper than the very top of the shoe but otherwise great on rainy days when sneakers/trainers would get wet even just plodding round town. Used outdoors in mud, big puddles, wet ground and haven't felt the need for mid cut or even high cut boots. Versatile and easy to take on and off unlike mid or high cut boots so it has its place.

That's what worries me, I still have 10 year old merrerls but recent ones weren't great.

Returned Merrell Moab’s recently as the quality seemed very poor. Better to spend a little more & get something which will last much longer.

    Are they true to size?

I am usually a size 9, but with Merrell i take size 10 for a perfect fit

I've got the trainer version of these and they've been great so ordered these on that basis. Heat
