The last riots like this came under a Tory government too. High unemployment, high inflation, cuts to youth services, take away the EMA which supported them in higher education. Taken away aspirations of going to uni. Cuts to police numbers on the streets causing police moral to an all time low. Tories = party of the rich governing for the rich as usual.Anyway enought spouting off on my orange box and have some heat OP.

Confusing feral scum with young people there mate.

I love the way the Tories are to blame. How naive do you have to be to think that any government could possibly make that much difference in, what 14 months? How about the 14 years of "New" Labour that preceded it, you know the government that taxed the hell out of everything then spent it all and a lot lot more. Do you think they had anything to do with it perhaps? And by the way, it's a coalition not a Tory government, officially anyway.

I personally think that a few police snipers with rubber bullets would do the job. Who needs Police on the street getting injured, when the fear factor of being hit by a rubber bullet from somewhere you can't even see would do the job very well..

Best to keep the ball on you as well, then you cant be picked up by the filth for wielding a dangerous weapon. Heat added! If I didn't buy one from Aldi last time they were on offer, I would buy this one. Only way to protect your car badges from the chavs round our end.

Cause and effect I'm afraid... when you have a government in power for many years and they waste all the country's money, sell off all the gold reserves at a low price, causing the country's credit rating down and raising major debt. There is only one way out, loads of tax, and some recession, whichever government is in power now would have had to do the same. Blair saw the signs of the usual labour overspend and knew when to get out.

Errr, I don't think any of the youths involved in the riots were ever destined for higher eductaion, EMA or no EMA...

I would gladly help the rioters if it would change things.

So you approve of what those scum thugs and thieves are doing?
I wonder if you'd have the same opinion if your car and house, along with your prized possesions and sentimental items get burned to the ground by said rioters.

Or are you simply confusing 'rioting' with 'protesting'?

I stopped reading there because you are the one that is out of touch.
My family has been living all over London for over 200 years, including Hackney, Croydon and Brixton, amongst others at the moment.

These riots have absolutely NOTHING to do with police brutality or oppression in ANY era.
In fact, I think the police need to be a little more brutal, otherwise these scum will get away with this time and time again.

I back zero tolerance armed officers with no comeback, that should do it. I've just seen footage of a policeman taking a brick in the chest, yet if he truncheoned the little sod he would be sued, sickening!!!

If you have ever lived in the areas affected you will know that street robbery/vehicle robbery/residential burglary's are high.
This is nothing to do with anything apart from young people wanting to fill their boots when it seems the police are powerless.
But, remember what happened to the rioters in Oldham some years ago they were hunted down and served long sentences.

They do not want to work for £7 p/h. And getting an education takes too long.
They are bombarded with messages of ipad2 and Sony 3DTV when even the ipad1 and LCD tv's are still unaffordable to them. So they rob/steal/sell drugs.

What would your solution be then? Keep borrowing till we're in the same mess as Greece?

Use your nut. All the cuts are going to do is bring Public spending back to the levels of 05/06.

These kids are feral. Perhaps the decent people in different communities, should get together and form militias to protect their homes/property? Seems the police don't want to do it, stood at the end of streets, watching kids wreak havoc and destruction.

It must have been terrifying for people. We will all need baseball bats, or worse, soon to defend ourselves.
