Before you buy, think twice, as you might end up in the same situation as me. And I was Ali customer for years, with perfect account score. In the end they showed me the middle finger.

Before you start stories "I bought 100s of items on Ali without any problems". I did too, until that one moment when you've got a problem and you are left with nothing. Aliexpress is great for cheap stuff for a couple of $, like phone cases, cables etc.

Your money, your decision, but i learned the hard way, to never ever buy such stuff from China again. Everything is great until that one moment when it isn't and you are going to wipe out all your savings.

    Thanks so much.

52774421-1Jk3j.jpgI buy PC components from them mainly, no issues. Might get taxed though.

IMPORTANT: Please note that HotUKDeals have made me edit my post as they only use the GBP checkout for the deal price in title. However, it does not affect those who still want to purchase in US dollars, which works out approx £20 cheaper than paying in GBP. It's entirely up to the buyer what they want to us. (edited)

I ordered a car's battery checker from Ali in March. Evri declared it lost in April. Ali didn't care and made me wait additional 2 months for a refund. No matter I had letters from Evri. I spoke with Ali CS numerous time and all they told me was "you get your money when we decide to release them". Was really upset. And all this after 8 years of buying from them. Maybe procedures changed, don't know. Just glad it was a matter of £15, not £300. If I would have to pay £70 customs and then it would get lost by local delivery courier.... I would be absolutely fuming. (edited)

Yep, Ali is great for cheap stuff, phone cases, USB cables etc. Anything worth more than that is suicidal... I learned it the hard way unfortunately...

Does anyone know if I will have to pay customs duty? If so, something around £120?
    MikeyS's avatar
£70, if it gets stopped at customs

I think we got lucky there because the discount code used to bring the price down was for AliExpress anniversary.

Mine says 2-7 June delivery, but has been shipped and looks like a Royal Mail tracking number. So probably quicker.
    Nemo89's avatar
Let us know if you get hit by customs. Hopefully not

Is global and UK version the same thing ?
    Bargainz999's avatar
    Author
Yes. There isn't a specific UK version.. Only Chinese or global (edited)

Had it delivered. It is a sealed box, official global rom.
Still setting it up, coming from a Poco F3, lovely screen, Oxygen OS seems much more feature rich than Miui.
Size wize almost identical footprint to the F3.
Got stung by customs, so takes the edge off it. Still pretty happy

Thanks very much! I've updated the price. Showing slightly more than yours, but if you pay in dollars, it will only cost you around £279, so a bargain either way!
    Nemo89's avatar
Close to £360 after customs. Still good though but the VAT actually makes it a bad deal considering you can get a OnePlus 12 for around £400. If only they declared a low value... (edited)

S23 ultra is about 150 more. For a much better camera.

Is the camera worth that to you?

    how long is normal delivery

My tablet from Ali took 18 days, went via train rather than plane. Got the royal mail tracking 3 days prior to delivery.

My tablet case went via plane, was in the UK within 3 days, just waiting for it to handed to Evri to lose it.

Just got message from Royal Mail.
Expect import duties. If the silly sods declared full value, it'll be £80 odd quid.
Ordered loads of phones from AE over the years tax free, so had a good run.
    Alexhus's avatar
Yeah recently I've been getting charged customs, they put 20% plus £8 handling charge
  29. MoonBall's avatar
Has anyone risked telling the seller to reduce the product value in order to avoid import fees before?
    ttttd's avatar
I asked but they still declared full value.
  30. Galaxy4741's avatar
Why is this code not working for me?
  31. steveex's avatar
Really is the luck of the draw. I received the Royal Mail email that they were expecting a package handover and that Customs charges may apply due to declared value (the true value was declared on the shipping label)
Phone arrived today. No customs charge. (Feels bad for others) (edited)

Confused as to what "global version" they are selling, the global 12R comes with a charger in the box but this listing does not. It has a thinner box than what the global 12R comes with and the back of the box has a completely different design.

Wonder if this is some different variant that is still global but not common or if something else is going on. Although people do seem to be confirming they are getting global versions, interesting

Edit: Some asian countries like malaysia have this variant so i guess that answers my question (edited)
