Does anyone know how this compares to a Hikoki frame nailer?

Paslode is gas powered and seen by many as the original and the best. I have the first generation and it's still going strong after 15 years. It does mean you have to pay for gas plus nails but they come included in the nail packs anyway.
Other brands like the Hikoki are battery only so heavier as they don't have the gas to explode the nails into the wood.
Pros and cons are covered in lots of YouTube videos.

If you need a framing nailer on a budget, it's still far cheaper to get an air nailer and compressor than it is to get a battery/gas gun even as a bare unit. Air tools have fallen out of fashion in the UK but they're still commonplace around the world and work perfectly well if not better, and the main disadvantage (having to move around a compressor between jobs) doesn't really apply to one off DIY projects.

I'd buy either this or hikoki for a first fix but probably lean towards hikoki as there's less maintenance needed.

These paslodes still need servicing probably once a year or when it starts playing up. You shouldn't really use cheap gas for it either so stick to branded.
If you're a site joiner and have all this provided for you then you'll also find you won't always get given the good stuff.

If the hikoki is only another £100 more I'd buy it. Or buy this now and see how you get on with it. They resell at quite a high price either way and if you keep it in good nick with all documents you might even get near enough your money back

I'm on my 4th hikoki in 6 years, I love the gun but I've had lots of problems with it. Still have my first ever paslode working in the box I just wanted to be in keeping with the times.

You've been watching too many 80's horror movies.

These 'things' only fire nails when the front is pushed into a surface knocking back the safety metal plate.

Ain't no doubt, it's plain to see.

A nailer like this is no good for me.

    (Voted hot).
