couldnt agree more, why dont people just submit the voucher code rather … couldnt agree more, why dont people just submit the voucher code rather than dela after deal of the same thing.its a good deal for a 3g vita so will give you some heat.

Because lots of people rarely (if ever) visit the 'Vouchers' section (me included). Someone posting a product at an objectively good price using said voucher is, in my opinion, making good use of the 'Deals' section.

People are such grouches! I voted hot for a stonking price on a stonking console.

Can anyone recommend a decent case as it will be used by a 5 year old

Jeez, what ever happened to books and proper educational toys.

I'm not digging at you personally, I have a friend who has 7 year old that does nothing but sit and play COD... there's a reason games have an 18 rating ffs.

This is why we have a shortage of computer programmers in this country, kids to keen to sit and play games rather than learn how they're made.

Must be fine to offload your kids onto a games console, How about buying them a PI board and spending some quality time with them instead?

Stop being cheap with the hacking cards and just buy the games
ps+ is a online service which lets you download free games each month only costs £40 an year once bought you'l get a code and redeem the code in vita in the playstation network app

I am not a big reader unless...wait for it...it's in a game. Like Final … I am not a big reader unless...wait for it...it's in a game. Like Final Fantasy lol. That game actually taught me to read and spell better, I used to struggle with things in school and as soon as I got those games my spelling and grammar improved a lot. I'm still not that good with words but I do ok.

    liltman

I think it also depends on the child, I never really started to take … I think it also depends on the child, I never really started to take anything in until I was around 11, before that I was like a potato and not because my parents never tried to give me things to increase my learning, I just was and one day I snapped out of it. It would be a better world yes if we could all learn from a very young age but not everyone will.

That wasn't the case at all, I had my family, and my school behind me. I found it hard to take anything in when young, everything just went out the other ear. They said it would be lucky if I passed my SATS and then one day it's like a switch flipped. I passed them and from then on I was able to learn much better. I'm not saying Final Fantasy taught me everything I know today, I am saying it helped me a LOT in later years.

"Anyone that claims final fantasy make kids more intelligent are a) 12 themselves or b) on another planet."

That is just ridiculous, and so you are claiming I am like that, which I am not. You are very one minded about your thinking aren't you? I'll stop this here now as I can't continue talking to someone who believes this and implies I am like this. Also I never said it made them more intelligent but it does help with spelling and grammar if that person is very susceptible to words like I am. I learn much better by reading but I have to be interested or have it in a certain form of media. Books just send me to sleep, and that does not mean I had bad education or anything.

As for the education system, it's terrible and it seems to be getting worse from what I can see. Unless your lucky enough to be in a good school or a top set where the teachers aren't too busy shouting at the people acting like morons but the less said about it the better as I hate the education system and believe self teaching is best.

Actually I take it all back, I just spent 20 minutes playing GTA5 in … Actually I take it all back, I just spent 20 minutes playing GTA5 in which time I learned how to boost a car, rob a liquor store, recruit a gunman and punch an old woman in the stomach. What an educational experience

Whilst i agree with ALOT of things you are saying, I disagree with some too and you're coming across as rather ignorant. Your points about education and TV shows being crap are 100% true, I hardly watch TV nowadays due to it being complete garbage and boring/uninteresting which only mindless, inept people seem to love and enjoy, and that is a reflection of our current society. Your completely right when you say kids are grown up playing COD non stop, ignoring education and society and ending up getting nowhere.

However on the other hand I was always allowed on my playstation, I was brought 18 rated games and allowed to watch 18 rated movies when i was under 8 and I thank my mum ALOT for allowing me too. Gaming has become a big interest and passion of mine. Yeah I was one of those kids who sat his ass down all day playing in his playstation and not working because I didn't feel like I needed too, I was fine with school work. I only worked when i needed to, when i was struggling. Nearly all my childhood has been me playing video games, most of my days in recent years have been spent on my playstation. Has this affected me? Hell no, my social life is fine I have plenty of friends who i go out with, my education was fine too, I worked my ass off to achieve good results and now I've just started a very well paid job with plenty of opportunity to further myself even more.

Games can be educational, not in a traditional school/work type way but more in a general education type of way. If liltman says final fantasy helped him in an educational way then I see no reason why that can't be true. Giving a child a PS3 and an 18 rated game isn't bad parenting. Not supporting and ensuring your child educates and is well behaved and mannered is bad parenting, NOT gaming. Also life isn't just about educating and working or socialising, sometimes people just want to fade away into a virtual world forgetting reality and relax whilst doing something fun on their own which they can enjoy and be entertained by, gaming does this in the best way possible.

So in my opinion it's more than fine for a child to play games as much as they want as long as they have good parents who ensure they educate and are raised well as both me and liltman are examples of this among many other worldwide. Gaming isn't the problem here, it's bad parents and other forms of media.

Get this model if you can as they will be replaced by a cheaper non-OLED screen which is still quite nice but not deep blacks as you get on this. Also I doubt they'll be making any more 3G versions when the new one comes out so this is probably the last batch of them before they're phased out.

I really want to buy a Vita, but the (day one) purchase of the PS4 is still looming over me. Plus, there is the issue of the Oled screens suffering from burn-in, and the LCD (slim re-release) fixing this.

EDIT: and then there is the Retron 5. ****... I need a second job!

Too many choices. Not enough time or money.

Yes it wont be available tomorrow but that will be new Vita going … Yes it wont be available tomorrow but that will be new Vita going forwards as it's cheaper to manufacture for Sony. I'm saying if you're holding to buy a Vita buy this model and specifically the 3G as it's perfect as it is and will most likely be phased out in the near future.

The 3G part of the Vita is fairly pointless though, but I guess this is the same price as a Wifi Vita costs so it doesn't really matter - it would never be worth paying more for given how limited it is. OLED vs LCD both have their advantages as well, i'd prefer OLED too, but a lot of people have issues with the OLED screens (burn-in, mura etc).

Many thanks to the OP 'A1ien' for this deal. At £149 (using voucher), the Vita has finally hit the right price point for me, especially with the 10 game DLC megapack and 8GB memory card included in the bundle. Hopefully some Quidco cashback too! As the comment above has pointed out, this deal is currently back on now that Tesco have restocked the 8GB memory card and 10 game DLC megapack. Deal should be un-expired whilst it is still possible to take advantage of it.

While I see your point, you assume most kids will want to become … While I see your point, you assume most kids will want to become programmers. Fact is, not all will and if they will they will figure this out on there own, not by a parent trying to get them into it at age 5. I'm not what you would call a full fledged programmer, I'm a designer with front-end programming which I consider very mild programming. I however got into it myself, I was always interested in computers ever since I laid eyes upon one and I have done nothing but play games my entire child hood which then lead to me progressing into working with computers. Giving a child a games console is a great thing imo and can lead to the end result you are talking about if that child is creative or great at solving equations and maths etc which could easily lead to an interest in programming.

That's not really what I am saying, what I am saying is that children are so absorbent at that age, there are much better things they could be doing. Giving a child a book is a damn sight healthier than giving them a games console.

When I was 7 I was writing programs in BASIC on an atari 400, because my parents gave me a computer, but they also gave me a book to go with it and not a bunch of games where the main theme was kill kill kill.

I see counter assistants at Argos refuse to give children 18 rated games, only for them to hand it to the parent stood next to them and that parent then hand it to the child, it's wrong.

I see it at my friends and with their friends children, they'd rather palm the kids off with GTA5 than deal with them, rather than try to educate them, rather than nurture their sponge like brains.

I totally agree with this too, society is dumbing down left right and … I totally agree with this too, society is dumbing down left right and center. I rarely watch TV at all and some of the stuff they put on for kids these days makes me really wonder where we're headed.

I think its a case of everything in sensible moderation, my son plays computer games, watches cartoons, movies, educational channels like National Geographic, Discovery etc, chasing the dog around the garden and he reads books, he doesn't spend all day doing one of those things, his Xbox 360 access is limited to a few hours over the weekend, not on school days.

The problem is when parents just dump kids in front of video games all day, but that's just as bad as dumping them in front of the TV, even making them read a book all day/every day would not be good or nurturing.

Kids are growing up in a world where they need to be technologically savy, even the most basic jobs in years to come will require good technology skills, my son can operate a PC mouse, keyboard, touch screen Android, mobile phone, SKY TV at 6 years old, his school room has a computer and an interactive white board, so if he wasn't using technology at home he would not be keeping up with his class mates.

I grew with the first generation of home computers, I got a Sinclair ZX81 when I was 12 in 1981, then a BBC Model B at 13, I taught myself programming, met fellow coders at the local computer shops in Manchester, some of these guys are writing games today at TT games etc, I am an IT consultant, this also stems from playing around on computers for hours in my youth, I learned how games were written by looking at how they worked to beat the game logic, they also help with co-ordination and dexterity, so games have allot to offer in learning.

Okay I didn't explain clearly my bad, I meant its not 100% of the time a … Okay I didn't explain clearly my bad, I meant its not 100% of the time a bad thing. If you give an 8 year old COD as a parent and you always explain what's right and what's wrong to him, you try and make sure he follows a good lifestyle and you also monitor him playing it and would intervene if the game had a negative impact on him but it doesn't change him the slightest and he continues on with a good attitude and educates himself well, is that bad parenting? I don't think it is at all, just because its rated an 18 as it is apparently not suitable for someone younger than that, does that mean it's completely wrong for someone 10 years younger to play it? Most of the time yes, but all of the time? No I don't think so, there's plenty of reason for some exceptions. The ratings a guide, the whole situation and a parents actions and attitude shows what's right or wrong. Just to make it clear though I'm not saying an 8 year old should play GTA, I'm talking about more of just light shooting games or mildly violent games given high ratings.

I understood what you meant from your first comment and agree. My Mother let me buy the first GTA when it came out and I was only about 13 I think, was a young teenager anyways but she warned me first and she made sure I knew it was just a game and blaa blaa blaa...

The right parenting and balance is key. I never turned into a crazy car robbbing gun crazed maniac and I was under age when playing those games. The majority of kids know these are games and not real. Parents job is to make sure and see if they think their kid can handle it. If not then stop them playing. My sister does the same with her son and hes turning out great.

Again, it depends on the person and we can not put all children into one … Again, it depends on the person and we can not put all children into one category. I've been almost the same my entire life, I see your points on many things and in todays world it is easy to get wrapped up in everything.Though to be honest, probably no different than it was for us. It's just a new generation, Playstation to this gen is PS3 and PS4, to me, and probably you and a lot reading it was probably PS1 and PS2.Anyways must dash to bed!

Christ, now you've made me feel really old hell I go back to SNES days, let alone running a PS1 upside down to get the discs to read

I'm not saying its all evil but I really do think at 5 years old, sitting in front of a games console for hours on end is bad.

I kinda see what you're saying but I'd bet my salary on the fact that if … I kinda see what you're saying but I'd bet my salary on the fact that if you had lost a child in a school shooting, you'd have a very different opinion on it. Don't get me wrong, as liltman said, we're all to quick to put blame on "something" these days but imho, the less exposure you have to these things until your mind can handle it the better. For COD PEGI decided that was 18, whether they were or right or wrong isn't for me to say but I think they do a pretty good job and I think parents have to trust those ratings and abide by them.

See I think opposite to that, the more exposure the better in my opinion, assuming you have good parents who teach you right from wrong and that it is just a game. Greater exposure = knowing right from wrong on a much higher level. Same with horror movies, greater exposure = less fearful upon getting older.

The 18 age rating is just there to be part of the "system" if you ask me. It's never as bad as they say and that's why often you will see people much younger saying "that was a 15, 18...why? It wasn't even that bad".
